This signing probably means we have to take United a bit more serious now, but I do remember a similar situation in Spain where Mourinho bought star after star and still fell short to a guy named Pep. Where does "rags" even come from? Doesn't even seem t relate to us at all unless it's a play on the word "reds", in which case it's an awful attempt.

I only know a few City fans, but most of them talk considerably more about United and the team they supposedly support. Pretty bizarre how football can be the cause of so much geniune hatred.

It's to do with United wearing cheap kits or second hand kits due to financial issues back in the 1920's/30's I believe.

Debt never came into FFP, everyone knows it was all a farce drawn up by The Rags Confederation of Europe (Trafford Rags, Bavarian Rags, Madrid Rags etc.) to stave off new money. It was all about "not spending beyond your means" which is farcical in itself as it completely fails to acknowledge debt. Their income vs. expenditure allows them to spend that much under the rules of FFP, but I'm not even sure EUFA care for FFP now as they completely failed in their aims. City loaned us some spare kits about a million years ago when we were broke. "Their old rags" being the joke, if you can even call it that.
