He's clearly talented . But he is overrated. His play doesn't justify the price tag and i doubt you will ever recoup that money in terms of one the pitch performance.
You're looking at it from the perspective of an accountant, not a fan of football. I can't understand this way of thinking. If you thought he was a bad player then fine, I could understand you not wanting him. But to acknowledge he has bags of talent but then really hope we don't sign him because he's £50m over your valuation is ridiculous.

If you get a decade out of him you probably will. If he leaves in 5 years we'll recoup most of that.
Depends on how you are looking at it. He's 23 years old. In around 4-5 years time he'll be in his prime. Even if he doesn't work out too well we can still probably sell him for a decent amount to PSG or other sugar daddy club.

That's a lot of money to be wasting on a player. Which has been our policy the last couple of years and we have seen where that has taken us.

Im looking at from a value for money, influence, principle standpoint. Not to mention he will probably start angling for a Barca/Real move in the next few years.

Pogba's play doesn't match his hype or price tag. I watch him quite often. Goes missing for long periods of games, plays in moments, sloppy, inconsistent but he is a highlight grabber. From a midfielder that's not what I like to see and doesn't fit the profile of the great midfielders i've watched who make the game revolve around them. He can definitely improve and Jose is probably the man to do it. But at that price?
I would want a combination of those players I listed who would cost around 40 million less and leave our whole midfield (after spending a lot of money on players who aren't up to the task) in much better shape. We will see how it goes nonetheless but i'm not a fan of the move.

Value for money and principles don't win trophies. It's thank to that nonsense that we replaced Ronaldo with mediocre players and lost out on Hazard. And now some of you would be happy to see us buy 2-3 average players instead of buying one player who is regarded as one of the best players in the world by his peers.

They were beyond our reach because they were already playing for top clubs - in the case of Ramos and Muller in their home country. That doesn't mean that players of that class are beyond our reach.
Our recent failures in the market are more a result of Woodward's naivety in pursuing ill chosen targets than United's lack of attraction for world class players.
Fair enough to those who think we shouldn't go for him because he's too expensive, but why is there so much concern over not buying a player because he might end up moving to Spain after a few seasons? Do we only want to buy players that will never be good enough to attract the attention of other top clubs then?

I don't really get the money argument to be honest. We should be signing the best player we can to improve us which I believe Mourinho has identified as Pogba and I agree since he has a lot of the attributes our midfield is missing.
Getting a combination of players isn't the alternative either, nothing stops us signing further midfield reinforcements but the fact of the matter is we can only play 11 players. We should therefore be trying to sign quality not quantity.
To be fair i have only been on this forum for a month or so and most of the posts in the transfer section have been about getting cocks and knocking one out so i don't think it's a stretch to think that was my thinking.

Vitaly from Real Galacticos had it spot on in his FullTimeDevils video he did. He said as a Real fan he's learned you dont pay for players based on their quality. You're paying for the brand, not just what he does on the pitch. He's a superstar in the making, if he isnt already. There's so many factors in a signing like this. Not just whether he gets it done on the pitch.

Signing Pogba and the like makes it easier to sign other players in the future. Getting it started is the hardest aspect in all of this.
The chance to play with great players is a massive selling point for transfer targets, signing Pogba is exciting enough but United being willing to spend money to build upon this excites me even more. It would be from next summer in that we would see the benifits.

Out of all the names he listed you chose Carvalho to pick on. Anytime I see the boy he's class, not spectacular but still class in his position
Pogba is potentially a winner too, he's just unlucky he's got 2 of the greatest players of the modern era in his way. I am not doubting 100m is a little over what he's "worth", but generally transfer fee's aren't what a player is worth, it's how much Juve are willing to lose him for.
