I am yet to see him have a stand out game that I would think wow this guy is amazing. He is certainly not worth anywhere near 100m. For that amount of money I would be expecting to sign someone who was going to decide games and provide a major influence on games.

Results are what matters to me as a fan on the football pitch not whether someone has a marketable profile. I am not saying I wouldnt want him at OT he would be an instant upgrade on the midfielders we have. A more respectable price based on what I have seen would be half the quoted fees

Currently he's not even the best player in his position, let alone could considered to be the top player overall so he's a hell of a lot to prove in the coming years. If you compare him to Ronaldo, which was the original point, at the same age, he'd won the Ballon D'or on merit.

It's not as if Pogba would likely win even if Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi weren't around. Suarez/Neymar/Bale/Ibrahimovic could just be winning it instead. I don't think he'll ever win it, but anyway the original point was that there's valid reason for people to have reservations about that in comparison to Cristiano.

I've stopped caring about the price too much myself (I doubt the transfer will even happen) but I don't think Pogba would be coming into our midfield at the right time.

It's ironic that there has been so much criticism of Woodward for being useless and embarrassing our club since he's joined us, and yet the man is showing far more ambition to get our club back to the top of the pile than many of our fans do. Pogba wouldn't only improve our team, he would improve us commercially and he would send out a big statement of intent by us that every player in the world will take notice of. It'll help us sign other big names in the coming seasons. We're not paying £100m for just the footballer he is today, we're paying £100m for the footballer he can become and the whole package he brings to our club off the pitch too.

The thing is that if we don't pay it then the pitchforks will be out. There was uproar when we let Hazard slip for an extra £6 million, which in hindsight was an outstanding deal (despite his dip in form).

In essence that's what it is all about. Probably all the reports having him choosing Barca and Real before us are true but we're the only one ready to pay his asking price - regardless of how ridiculous it is at the time.

Depends if €100m was acceptable to them or not. If Pogba won't go to us then our €120m isn't a valid offer in the sense it's not really relevant. Same thing happened when City outbid us for Berbatov.

I always assume its a lot. I mean, at a certain level a player is earning so much money that an extra £20k or £50k a week starts to be a little meaningless. OK not meaningless, but there is a law of diminishing returns in play. The difference between 300K a week and 350K a week is not going to feel as significant as the difference between 100k a week and 150k a week, let alone 0 and 50k a week. Once you get into the realms of "more money than I am ever actually going to spend", other factors will become increasingly important, relatively speaking, meaning things like playing for the most prestigious clubs and climate.

We're dealing with hearsay and peoples imagination 9/10. We also heard how he wanted to come back to United in his career. So if he went so Spain, he would eventually want to leave. If we become successful again, then people settle down. I don't think the desire to go to Spain is as big as people imagine. Naturally his preference would be Madrid, they've just won the CL 2 times in 3 years (though they were lucky to face a neighbour in the final twice). It's natural, certainly since LVG let us down but he has friends and family in the UK so I don't think he'll have too much of a problem with it.

That was more to do with the fact that Madrid/Barce and the Italian clubs at the time were far stronger financially.

Nowadays English clubs are by far the strongest financially.
