I'm sorry for you, mate. Winning tournaments doesn't boil down to starring in the finals. He scored 16 goals in the CL, 51 goals in all compets for Real, helped Portugal to win the Euros. That will be enough, you can quote me.
It was still his worst season in years. His goals were mostly stat padding this season along with failing to deliver against the best teams all season. On paper it all looks good though but it definitely wasn't a great season from him.

I think the verdict is: Messi is the better player, but Ronaldo has had a better career

His Sir Alex Ferguson impression from the sidelines was hysterical. Tapping his watch. Pushing Fonte back onto the field.

About 60 goals in official games and two big big tropheys. It was a great season for him, actually.

Why Is it cringe, you obviously have no place in this thread.

Ronaldo's goals got Portugal to the final, he was really unlucky to get injured in the final he was devastated to come off but his passion on the sidelines at the end showed how much he wanted the win. So if I want to be happy for him winning a trophy with his country then I will be.

He's better than Becks as a player/personality/helpless captain on the sidelines too. What a leader!

Shouting, pushing your manager, and screaming things when you have a mnager, and making a right prat of yourself , does not constitute being a leader. Alot of people here, have a weird idea of what a leader is supposed to do. The manager is not looking happy with his antics is he

UCL top scorer and the UCL win too.

I think Suarez has been the best player, but his rep will probably prevent him from winning.

Don't know if you have, but if you didn't next time pay more attention to Griezmann, player of the year for me this time around

That's enough because he's Cristiano Ronaldo, if he was Karim Benzema it wouldn't. Just being in the trophy photo that will be published all over the world tomorrow will win him a lot of votes even with only 20 minutes played tonight

Ronaldo is the only player that gets credit for playing cheerleader in a game that he couldn't even play in. Ridiculous.

Really pissed me off with the camera panning to him at th final whistle and viewers having to constantly look at him instead of the team celebrating. He's been peripheral all tournament, had zero contribution tonight and yet it's the Ronaldo show. Show the team celebrate, not Ronaldo and his tears.

its cringe people saying 'i am so happy for him' blah blah blah. The love affair with Ronado when he doesn't even play for us is so weird.

This its so cringe.
He went off like after 20 mins. He played no part in the final yet everybody is going on like he scored the winning goal.

Pretty sure Messi's won more titles though.
Never won anything with Argentina. Will always be a stain on his career imo. Compare the Argentina teams Messi has played in compared to the Portugal ones Ronaldo has played in. Messi should've won at least a Copa America with Argentina in his career.

Pretty sure Messi's won more titles though.
Plus more Balon d Or's....

How's Ronaldo had the better career? I can take people saying Ronaldo is the better player but how the hell has he had a better career?

Don't watch then you should have known it'll be the Ronaldo show whenever he's on the pitch.

I have paid attention to Griezmann. He's incredible and had a fantastic year. Was the best player at the Euros as well.

I just think Suarez has been better.

Well, has Benzema ever scored 35 + goals? Ronaldo scored 51 overall for Real and 16 in the CL alone, second best tally ever, 1 short of his record. It is not like he won the tropheys without contributing much.

I know, but I'd still say he's had the better career.

Won more titles. More Ballon D'Or's. Was the best player in Europe's greatest club side ever arguably(Barcelona 2011).

So, now the key to have the "better career" is getting injured in a final and your team winning it with you cheering from the sidelines? To hell with guiding your team into 3 consecutive finals

Ronaldo = One of the best goalscorers of all time.

I don't think he's been impressive this Euros though, bar probably one game where he looked like he was playing, the others were lacklustre not just be him but the entire Portuguese team.

Good for him, but he doesnt deserve individual honours after his year, footballing Legacy wise he's up there with Cruyff no doubt from a footballing perspective (player perspective). Influence wise slightly less than him.

Sometimes you need a little bit of luck Argentina haven't had it for 3 years, with lets say certain players playing better in ALL tournaments, yet Portugal had a large slice of luck this year, the "strongest 3rd team rule" of the group really helped this tournament.

The teams they played, scraping through, lots of luck, same goes for the CL final this year, Atletico were better.

Wonder what you'll say about people wanking to Messi when he hasn't played for us at all..
Huh...what's Messi got to do with this? I would say the same thing as well if Argentina won and Messi played no part in the final yet the camera and everybody focused on him.

If someone is more deserving than another but loses out to that person, isn't "undeserved" an accurate description?

Unless of course you disagree and think Ronaldo's been the best in the world this year? For me Suarez has and if he wasn't a horrible cnut he'd be a certainty to win the Ballon d'Or, imo.

Well he's one of my favourite players. He gave United great service during his time here he's up there with some of the best we've had and he has never had a bad word to say about the club when brought up in various interviews.

You probably shouldn't be in this thread if he annoys you so much considering its a ronaldo thread.

He's on 10s of millions a year. Yet he's still in tears over this game he loves so much. Got to feel for him. There's a lot of love for the sport in Ronaldo. That often gets forgotten.

George Best (after Portugal lost the Euros)
- "We saw that he plays with his heart too. He obviously loves the game so much and was distraught to lose in the final. Seeing him cry nearly got me going too."

You're telling me Ronaldo did nothing throughout the tournament and Portugal would have got to the final anyway without Ronaldo. He can't help going off injured in a final ffs

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Happy for our boy!

Every trophy with United.
Every trophy with Madrid.
International trophy with Portugal!
4 Balons.

He's shown himself to be an incredible leader throughout this tournament too.

Whether people like it or not, he will be spoken about as potentially being the GOAT.

Your post implied that posters celebrating a player who doesn't play for United is cringe worthy. Many of us do the same for Messi and you haven't been pulling up posters who do the same.
