Cant remember the last time I had no idea who would start, what formation we will play and if we will challenge.

Terry will be captain so you'd think he'll start but in a back 3?

Will we play 2 upfront?

Will Conte flop?

Will a youth product start more than 10 premier league games (that's the target I have decided upon)?

I have no fecking clue.

Edit - In and out

Players in:
Michy Batshuayi

Players out:
Stipe Perica - Udinese
Amelia (third choice goalie released)
Ake - Bournemouth (loan)
Kalas - Fulham (loan)
Boga - Grenada (loan)
There will obviously be a shitload more loans.

I think Conte is a smart manager and should do well if he can adapt to the Prem and get the likes of Hazard on side.

Who was the Spurs manager who won the World cup and didn't do well and they fired him and brought Terry Venables instead? But Conte seems to be a bit special to be fair.

Thought you could have used Ake and Christensen, if you are going to play 3 at the back.

Expect them to make leaps and bounds after last year, perhaps push for 7th or 8th.

Think we'll win the League. Rest of the League is piss poor & we have no CL to distract us.

But didn't our Tottenham fellows here say, Chelsea is no longer a CL team and on the decline trend? You should Tottenham fans, they have idea for your team.

Literally impossible to predict how we'll do at this point.

I think they'll get back in the top 4 for sure.

Conte is a very good league manager.

It'll be interesting if he'll use his preferred 5atb system at Chelsea.

Christensen is only halfway through his 2 year loan and Ake has gone to Bournemouth for the season.

I'm surprised Ake didn't stay as a squad player, given his flexibility.

I think Chalobah might be in with a shout of being a squad player.

Don't think Nat will stay here this season. Unless we sell multiple midfielders.

i don't think its going to be plain sailing for them. He strengths seem to be tied to the Italian game, so he has to be flexible enough to blend it with the PL. I think he is smart enough to do it in the long run, but Im not sure how its going to work in the first 6 months.

I hope Chalobah leaves Chelsea......I'm a big fan of him because he must now play every week......another loan makes no sense for him and Chelsea.

Who have Chelsea bought and sold so far in this window? A list would help discussion of their squad strength.

How good is Conte's English by the way?

Depends who you buy IMHO.

Are you going to go with Costa as the main man up front?
Persist with Matic and Fabregas despite their terrible previous seasons?
Will the Kante transfer happen?
Will Hazard be reinvigorated by Conte or will he be invisible again?

Is Zouma playing again? (Don't know the extent of his injury)

Loads of problems for Conte to address. Fortunately for you he seems pretty strong and probably knows what he wants from his team

Think he'll be pragmatic and work with to strengths of the squad, at least in the short term, so a 4321? Your recruitment and outgoings this summer will be interesting, haven't seen Chelsea mentioned much in terms of rumours yet.

It's hard to imagine you not qualifying for the CL two seasons in a row, especially not having the extra fixtures other contenders have. But then the league is mental now and there might not be enough goals in the team, as it stands.

One thing we can predict, is if he plays John Terry in a back three, he won't be winning any games.

That's not too far off. If Terry plays in a back three I'm honestly not sure they would win a single game at all.

I'm gonna make a bold prediction here and say that Conte will fail to get consistent results and he will be sacked by December.

This. And you'll have done it by early February.
Really? United and City will be considerably better than last season, not to mention the signings to come and the world class managers. I'm pretty certain Chelsea will be top 4, but I can't say I agree with the above predictions.

are you thinking of Ardiles? who won the world cup as a player, was sacked after not doing very well and replaced with Gerry Francis

No, maybe it's not Spurs. Some Euro/WC winning coach came to england with a lot of fanfare and got fired after 6 months. :wenger: Or it happened while I was playing Football manager, one of which.

Chelsea are my favourites to win the league. Under-performed by a mile last season thanks to Mourinho. it was obvious Hiddinck got them slightly back on track and with new players, a new highly rated manager and returning confidence they will be tough to beat to the title, no Euro football only enhances that. When other contenders are playing 2-3 games a week Chelsea will, for most of the season, have a week between games to field fresh and confident teams week in week out.

Yeah, and we are playing in 5 CL competitions simultaneously. Of course the rest of the league is piss poor, you walked all over them last season.
