Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Looks like Raiola and Juventus want him to go to United but Pogba wants to play for Madrid. I am half expecting a deadline announcement that United have been gazumped by Morata and James Rodriguez going to Juventus in exchange plus cash and us signing someone we've never heard of for 50m instead.

Well it widely accepted as being the case, don't get the hate for Balague. Player prefers Madrid. Shock.
He is barely reliable nowadays. Plus he made the whole dig at United last week when we outbid Madrid and about how Pogba doesnt actually want to move to Manchester and play in the Europa League. He couldnt get over, and by the looks of it still hasnt gotten over, the fact that we outbid Madrid.

£50m Unknown signing on deadline day? Worked out well last time.

It really irritates me when people have a pop at Woodward. He's tried each season to deliver a big signing so hardly his fault when they don't come off for whatever reason.

How anyone knows who is dilly dallying or whatever else is beyond me. If we end up getting Pogba on deadline day so what.
I actually considered buying the new home kit with his name on it. So many people give him a hard time but I actually like his desire to only buy worldclass players. He did bring dimaria and falcao regardless of how that turned out. Now look at us this window. Yet you will have muppets a month from now complaining if we don't sign pogba.

Ya balague is coming off like a cnut throwing his toys out the pram on this one. This was suppose to be the transfer of the summer and it involved balague's beloved La Liga. I'm sure he was getting ready to be all over Sky to talk Pogba to Madrid.

Also anyone believing him on the "Pogba definitely prefers Madrid" stuff, balague was the guy that sat there adamantly for months saying Van Gaal was staying. Hell I think he even said it again the day of the FA Cup

Let's believe the guy who said
One thing, I have been told, is certain. Van Gaal, as it stands in this volatile world of football, will continue as manager, fully supported by the MU Board

I think you need to take this matter a bit more seriously. This is the internet after all.

Google image is full of meme's that suggest the internet is in fact, serious business. Of course I shall not post any here, as the rules are against that sort of thing.

Back on the subject of Pogba, sounds like we can expect a quiet week (at least in terms of actual activity) followed by an explosion of new rumors and discussion one he returns from this holiday he is on.

Not saying it's untrue but its largely on the say so of Ballague. If Pogba wanted to engineer a move to Real, it would be in motion by now, even if Real couldn't match our transfer fee.

I'm of the opinion that he wouldn't mind joining United but he is also content with staying at Juve.

It's been reported by more people than Ballague, I just don't get why people dislike him, he isn't being anti Utd, just stating that Pogba prefers Madrid but they don't want to pay up.

Big deal.

I think pogba actually preferred Barcelona. There were reported meetings between representatives of Pogba and Barca (not completely sure but I think juve representatives too). But his price was not low enough for Barca to buy him. He was linked to Madrid too but Madrid immediately released a statement denying the links.

Makes you wonder how connected he really is with Jorge Mendes.

I agree. I like Woodward. Its interesting how he no longer appears in the contract signing videos and photographs.

I don't think it's so much what he says it's the smug way the cockroach weasel says it.

IIRC, it's based on the fact that Pogba said that Zidane was his idol and that Madrid was a great club. Journos are adding 2 and 2 together, they know nothing about Pogba's preferences. They did the same thing with Griezmann who said that Beckham was his idol, he became a United fan after that.

I agree with the majority of your post - but not the part where you hint that a top defender and a top midfielder can't be aquired for £105 million. That is of course a strange thing to say considering what Leicester paid for a couple of decent players last year. I am however all for signing Pogba
Leicester was an anomaly IMO. To challenge consistently for the league and Champions League, we need world class players in both positions; both CB and midfield are too crucial to make-do. Especially in a market where players like Sterling are going for £50 million and Stones is being quoted at a similar price, I believe it's nearly impossible to sign the quality we need for both positions with just £105 million.

At the same time, Umtiti and Douglas Costa went for 60m€. Sterling and Stones are outliers, they are not the norm.

Starting to get that horrible feeling that we're being used again. Our best hope is that Madrid don't find a buyer at £50+£60m+ for Morata, and rather than spend another year in Serie A Pogba might come back to us.

We should absolutely set a deadline though and if he's only using our money to force Madrid into making a move then we should move onto our other targets Matuidi, Drinkwater, Allen, Sissoko whoever they may be.

If he wanted to come, we'd have signed him by now.

I think Mourinho said the deadline was the start of the season in his press conference.

Pogba is on holiday right now anyway so doubt anything is going to happen til he's back

Why? Did Bale and Berbatov joined Madrid and United early?
nah mate, Bale didn't want to go to Madrid that's why it took an entire summer ... David De Gea never wanted to go to Madrid so much he plugged out the fax machine himself. everyone does transfers by may 31st and Manchester United does everything wrong:boring:
posters are really annoying sometimes :(

It's funny the number of people who seem to think the schedules of major transfers are ran based on their own short attention span

"Shit, some muppet on an Internet forum is bored this isn't done yet despite not having a clue whats actually going on, better give up and sign joe Allen instead"

Sterling and Stones aren't outliers anymore, especially in this market where Watford are rejecting £30 mil for Deeney and average players are selling for a minimum of 15 million (see Townsend, Ibe). If anything, I'd say smart deals like Costa would be nigh impossible for Premier League clubs in particular due to their incredible wealth. Clubs will try to milk every last penny out of Prem clubs, even more so than usual for United.

They are definitely outliers, when you have 3 examples and I have dozens. You will also notice that you are talking about players that moved within the PL which isn't an obligation, with 105m you can sign two very good players in the current market. 50m transfers aren't the norm yet.

Firstly there arent the norms YET. But they soon will be and there is a good reason for it - the money involved in the TV revenue for the premier league clubs. We stand to make 140m pounds in just TV rights IF we make the top four. Let that just sink in - 140m. Thats why I keep arguing paying 100m for Pogba isnt a big deal anymore, especially if he helps us get back into the top four. We kill two birds with one stone - get TV revenue (140m) and keep our adidas deal (75m) as it is. If we sign Pogba then we make up all that money in less than a year or if we dont sign him, which is highly unlikely, then we stand to get back half of what we have spent over the las three years in ONE shot.

Fair enough, though in my opinion, while you're definitely right in saying that most of the ridiculously expensive transfers have involved PL clubs, I don't necessarily think that these ridiculous transfers are exclusive to just transfers within the Prem. For example: Mangala, Otamendi, Xhaka. They're just three names off the top of my head who's recently transferred to a PL team from a foreign league. None of them are world class, yet they all went for around the £30-35 mil mark I believe. The bigger you are, especially if you flaunt your money like we do, naturally the more you'll have to pay.

Saying all that, I still can't think of any top class midfielder who would significantly improve us at around the level Pogba potentially could, for around the £50 million mark. I also do think that we're heading slightly off-topic, so let's just agree to disagree?

That's fair enough I suppose. I'm a big fan of equality and can't help but see holes in logic. But like they say in the states, it is what it is. Whether people wum or not or get banned or not doesn't really bother me in any way whatsoever. Poor arguments and arrogant use of authority does bother me. If this forum is set up to embrace old timers' power trips I will bow out graciously. Nothing worse than a person with a little power and a big ego.

Well cant see much happening today considering all Juves officials are wasting their time trying to negotiate with Napoli.

Cant expect anything anyway because he is still on holiday. So probably the end of this week or early next week is when it will truly kick off again.
