The bottom line is Pogba is worth whatever we're willing to pay for him. That's how business works across the globe. I don't even know how people on here come up with their valuations, there is never a breakdown of how they arrive at that figure. I've seen people say Pogba is worth £70m. Okay fine, why? Why not £60m? Why not £75m? I don't understand any of it, and I'm bored to death with it all really. I just want to see great players wearing a United shirt and banging in the goals each week, that's why I love football and why I fell in love with United back in the early 90's; because of the entertainment, not because of the clubs accounts. So yeah, if we pay £100m and sign Pogba then brilliant, I'll be happy. If we buy him for £120m then brilliant, I'll be happy. If we bought him for £10m then brilliant, I'd be happy, but not because we spent £10m, but because we'd have bought a great player.

I really dont think there will be much negotiating, or bidding at all. Earliest sources reported the deal as being 'done' two weeks ago. I just dont think you would walk into a meeting to discuss a world record transfer without the knowledge that the the bid is going to be accepted. The only thing that could change or delay the deal is if the player changed his mind. Otherwise, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Pogba is coming home.

Usually, these kind of numbers are reserved for proven world class signings; almost sure things. We are paying a heavy premium here for a player who is far from world class. Also, a major portion of the fee is upfront with only 20% max as add-ons. I hope Jose and Woodward know what they are doing here.

He wouldn't. For whatever reasons, right or wrong, Pogba has become the most sell-able player in Europe (other than the Barca / Real untouchables). But equally, he'd be more than £60m.

If it fails, we won't even break a sweat over it. It's nothing to us. We can afford to spend like this every summer for the foreseeable future.

Yes I am embarrassed to be perfectly honest. It has nothing to do with how good a player is. I don't people who don't want to be here, out of respect to both parties. I have the same attitude to my businesses and life. Life is too short to regret big decisions like this.
DDG is only here by some sort of administrative cock up between United and Madrid, He wanted to leave so It's different to having to settle for a less preferred club. it's not his fault and would be playing for them right now had it not been for that debacle.
I understand wha't your saying about your preference. I worked/lived in Madrid for 6 years and did not like the city, much preferred other parts of the country but in any case I think allot of people go to where the opportunity is and this financial opportunity doesn't come much bigger than this I guess.

Things have definitely changed. I remember when I was young, when we broke the transfer record it was a cause for excitement / celebration / pride / gloating. These days we seem nervous / ashamed when these amounts start getting thrown around. And for those of you too young to remember, £7m for Andy Cole or £1.5m for Robbo seemed just as outrageous sums of money to pay for a footballer back then.
I guess maybe it's out lack of recent success, and the big name flops we've had recently that make us cautious about all this now.
The chances of United signing Pogba increased from 60% to 75% in my books. Clearly if we are going with an official bid along with Riola, then Pogba is on board! Now whether United and Juve come to an agreement and whether our official bid forces Real to also bid are the two remaining questions.

We were able to get even that for him because his quality was already proven; he failed here because he couldn't adjust here under Van Gaal. Pogba is still a 'potential', not a finished product. However, the fee and wages being talked about are for a finished product. There are still questions about his world class consistency and quality.
I am neutral towards this deal; so, I am leaving this on Jose and Woodward without bothering too much. But all this talk about "we'll get our money back in 3 years" is far from a surety.
No we didnt sell him for 25% less. We got him for around 50-52m upfront and the rest were add ons. We sold him for around 46-48m upfront.

Exactly my POV too. Far too many people care about price. What matters is seeing him in our shirt, scoring goals and lifting trophies come next May. If that happens it'll be worth every penny.
