Since when is "squawka" a source?
I think its more down to relationship between Jose and RaiolaI think if we pull this one off, we might have to give Woody some credit on the football side of the job for once.

Since when is "squawka" a source?
no idea, it's quite bizarre. Most of their "news" has been player analysis after the transfer has happened. Yet they are running this as an exclusive. Are Squawka supposed to be ITK?
A transfer of a player is nothing like any other deal. Between the clubs the only thing that needs to be agreed is the Transfer Fee, payment terms and any sell-on terms. The other terms that you mentioned would have to be agreed with the player himself and would not form part of any discussion with the selling club. This isn't football manager. The entire process is mostly legal, everything has to be written out, checked, confirmed, agreed to, processed, evaluated then signed.
The Law firm i'm at when it comes to any new deals it's a long & strenuous process of raising paperwork and having it checked and confirmed can take months depending on the size of the deal. Then it needs to be sent other to the other party, that can take 1 day, 1 week, 1 month maybe longer.
Then we need to countersign, from there it's a process of evaluating all the terms and conditions involved and many more steps.
With football you'll need to consider all the personal terms that need to be included, terms from both clubs, sponsorship and image rights of both the club and the player, add-on bonuses & wages, clauses in contract. Agent terms and conditions.
Honestly the fact that it gets turned around as quickly as it does is quite remarkable.
Unless they are using that "reliable" goal italy journo as their source and just over-hyping their article, as he's reporting the same thing. They don't source their information. "Sources close to the deal". Whose sources ? Squakas ? A complete joke.
That's only a tiny fraction of it. Internet hits, poster views, sponsor adds etc. The list is endless/as long as the imagination of our commercial department which by all accounts is bloody good!Sure, I'm fine with that definition. But that is pretty much the problem, marketability is probably measured by how many Pogba shirts we could sell, but that is correlated to the "illusion", "love" for Pogba, not his ability to get us winning, or playing good football. I didn't feel we needed to be more marketable as much as I believe we need to perform better.
That said what if Pogba comes in and does a Fellaini, does that throw his marketability out the window?
I don't think we want be reminded of that one.
Why not for the other good signings of this window?
I think its more down to relationship between Jose and Raiola

In Pogba's case, it seems we have an in-principle agreement with Pogba/his agent regarding the terms of his contract. The only thing remaining is agreeing a fee with Juventus for transferring his registration to us. It really is a matter of agreeing on a fee Juventus and any sell on clauses.

Forgot about that, we're gunna be class on FIFA 17 with or without Pogba.I'll actually enjoy using Utd on FIFA head-to-head seasons again if Poggy joins!
That's the most important thing about all of this.
It's surreal really. From having Rooney in midfield supported by Lindgard/Mata/Depay and brilliant but young duo of Martial and Rashford. We will lineup with Zlatan fu.cking Ibrahimovic, Paul fu.cking Pogba and Henrik fu.cking Mkhitaryan and Anthony Fu.cking Martial![]()
Of course I know what he's accomplished. He is still the best manager ever for me. But even the most adoring fan, has to admit SAF dropped the ball with Pogba. You have to be wumming or have no real clue about what SAF accomplished.
Any relation of Eddie?http://www.squawka.com/news/manches...juventus-star-confirms-he-wants-return/728731

Is there a difference between an official 100m bid and an unofficial 100m?http://www.squawka.com/news/manches...juventus-star-confirms-he-wants-return/728731

SAF did drop the ball with Pogba, BUT without SAF we wouldn't even be in the position to spend 100mil on him or any player. The club wouldn't be what it is today without SAF.Of course I know what he's accomplished. He is still the best manager ever for me. But even the most adoring fan, has to admit SAF dropped the ball with Pogba.
Never did I say that this negates SAF's work. Just it is a blot on his work.
I can understand a lot of poster's opinions regarding the worth of Pogba. I disagree however with those claiming it's 'stupid to argue what he's worth as it's whatever a club is willing to pay etc'... I think a lot of the concerns are that he's not worth it in relation to the ability of other players available in his position for less money.
I don't personally think he's good enough relative to other players to justify the premium, but I think he's got the potential to be the greatest midfielder of his generation. More importantly I think this puts us back 'on top' as a club. He's a player who generates massive interest, and most clubs would love to have him, they simply can't afford the fee. We'll be the club that broke the transfer record, not Madrid for once.
Also a yer ago I wouldn't have wanted Jose anywhere near our club, but if we're honest we would likely have not got Zlatan, maybe not Henrik, and certainly not Pogba with any other available manager. Between Jose, and what we're willing to pay for Pogba it feels like we're sitting at the top table again in terms of attracting talent and fans to our club.
90% Pogability. On a scale from 'Sanchester United' to 'Done Dealio' how certain is this to happen now?
I was talking about the overall pipeline of a deal from being generated to being completed.
We don't know what stage United are at with Juventus, we don't know if any of these other steps have already been agreed because nothing factual has come out, everybody is speculating and relying on other sources.
The original poster I quoted said this fee can be settled within a 30 second conversation. All i'm saying is that's an unrealistic expectation because each figure quoted will have implications for the selling club, buying club, player, agent, plus any other representatives working on the deal for each party.
Like Zlatan he will bring a large fan base with him. He's young, flashy, has all the talent in the world and seems like a nice guy, lots of young kids will look up to him. I wouldn't be surprised if the club held a meeting with our sponsors and they all gave the green light for this deal.United will make a lot of money from Pogba's marketing. After he becomes the world's most expensive player playing in the EPL he will attract lots of sponsors for United and himself and of course United will have about 50% of his image rights.
He's worth about £50 million as a footballer right now but with his potential and marketability it will be a good move for United in the long term.
Of course I know what he's accomplished. He is still the best manager ever for me. But even the most adoring fan, has to admit SAF dropped the ball with Pogba.

What the hellUnfortunately our Woody isn't as hot shot a CEO as you clearly are.
To be fair you initially said that it shouldn't take more than an hour, which is pretty ridiculous. What the hell
It was a bit tounge-in-cheek. I get that all the paperwork etc takes time, but the meeting itself between the clubs to negotiate the price shouldn't take more than a couple of days.
Hope I didn't ruin your day with my post.

I don't know if you realised, but he'll pay for his transfer fee simply in shirt sales. If it doesn't actually happen now it's going to be a let-down of titanic proportions...
No player is worth £100M but if he signs, stays for a good few years, helps put United back at the top of the pile, it will be money well spent.
Many of you keep talking up Pogba's immense marketability, which makes him way more valuable than he otherwise would have been. But what is this based on? What makes him so marketable? I'm not the best judge, but I don't think he's all that great looking...
