Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

someones butthurt

I know it's been tough for you guys these last few years, so it's kind of pathetic and understandable at the same time for you to jump on this so quickly. If you ask me, a thank you letter to Florentino Perez would be much more appropriate from your side. ;)

I think you need a reality check. United is a team with so much to prove, to it's fans, investors, sponsors. Real Madrid and Manchester United live in two completely different galaxies at this point in time. Different set of targets, different set of problems, different set of everything.

You should just enjoy what seems to be a great summer for you guys for a change, but if you want to enjoy it by trolling Real Madrid fans, then you have serious problem with your perspective.

If you didn't understand all of this, I'll try to explain by saying that Pogba is worth 100 maybe even 200 mil € for Man United. You need him, you need him more then he needs you, but for Real Madrid, he's not a 100 mil € player, because we simply don't need him.

This.

I think Pogba would be hugely marketable here in the States even though soccer/football isn't marketed here.

And yes...there aren't enough superstar black footballers in the world. The fact that three players with so much potential may all play for the Reds (Martial, Rashford and Pogba) is simply amazing.
The publicity of the fee alone would vault his name recognition way up in the states, probably only behind Ronaldo, Messi, and Neymar in terms of international soccer/football stars. There's already the connection with Drake, and I think you'll soon start seeing/hearing about him hanging out with some of the biggest young stars in the NFL and NBA, kind of like Neymar who was seen with a lot of US athletes and celebs when he was here watching the Copa America this summer. Especially any of those young stars that are sponsored by Adidas. Nike and Adidas love to get their stars from the US and overseas at events together, and hopefully have them build friendships. In the world of social media, those friendships become semi-public, and the tweeting and instagraming back and forth would raise Pogba's profile in the states, and would raise the profile of those NFL/NBA players overseas. He's young, he's hip, he's got swag. He could become the first football player to really capture the urban youth market in the US.

Why do people keep repeating these type of arguments?

If you're going to make such arguments then list out players who are reasonably attainable, and play in Pogba's position.

Not just random players who are good and cost less, therefore we could theoretically spend the money elsewhere.

What the hell you talking about, the point is spreading the cost on other players, not another similar player that would cost 100m..

I thought Valencia was better than Darmian when he played personally. He's limited of course but has incredible raw pace and power. Darmian barely gets forward but slightly better in defence.

I think neither should be starters, and each is stronger where the other is weak.

Right backs should defend 1st imo.

Enjoy 60m Andre Gomes

Alexis? Why would Arsenal sell them to us when we will clearly be a title threat, and why would he leave CL football to come here? Kante is great, but doesn't solve our midfield issue, merely improves upon destroyers like Fellaini. Once Pogba starts banging in those long range volleys like Scholesy, I'd imagine quite a few will start changing their tune here.

No meant sanches..

Wow!! This is really happening!! Italian, English, Spanish papers all reporting it.

I don't agree with the price. But who can say "NO" to this:

--------------------- Big Dave ----------------------
Darmian ------ Bailly ---------- Smalling ---- Shaw
---------------- Schneiderlin -------- Pogba --------------
MKhitaryan ----------- Rooney ---------------- Martial
------------------------ Zlatan -------------------------

Bench:
Romero
CBJ
Fosu-Mensah
Carrick

Herrera
Rashford

That is a champions league winning team, and we are not even in the champions league.

PS

Please DO NOT say Carrick shouldn't be in there. Carrick is one of our midfield general. Look at the amount of games we lost over the years without Carrick in midfield. I'm sure Mourinho would agree.
Fixed that for you. If we'd leave out Rooney for Rashford or an in-form Memphis, we'd probably have a team capable of competing in Europe.

What the hell you talking about, the point is spreading the cost on other players, not another similar player that would cost 100m..

I understand your point I'm asking you to list other players who play in his position that we can obtain.
Sanchez and Kante are both gone.

No doubt about that.
The issue in all this "100 mil £ mistake by SAF" is that there's absolutely no guarantee that he would have developed here the same way he has at Juventus especially considering the last two managers we have had. He might also have not even stayed here until now.
And even if we just assume he would have developed in the same way here plus we would still be successful, even then we would now be facing the challenge losing him to Madrid in his prime / just before his prime and then we would never hear the end of it.

So while SAF could have done more to keep him (basically played him more) we now at least are (hopefully) getting his best years instead of Juventus or RM.

Holding MF
Schneiderlin Pogba

I think that is our best bet. Schneiderlin and Pogba being given a box to box role, with the former handed more defensive minded instructions and the latter more attacking.

Not totally convinced by an ageing Carrick starting at DM but might work with 2 physical, athletic players in front of him.

Would like to see TFM and Blind being given chances at holding position. Can also switch Herrera with Schneiderlin, and Mata with Pogba.
Fully agree with everything you said, I think Basti could rotate with Carrick as well. A team with Basti and Zlatan in managed by Mourinho certainly would lack balls.

I wonder who we will play as Pogbas midfield partner? or will he play #10 and relegate rooney to the bench

It wouldn't though.

Mkhi Carrick Pogba Martial
Rooney
Zlatan

Carrick Pogba
Mkhi Rooney Martial
Zlatan

Carrick Pogba
Rooney
Mkhi Zlatan Martial
The bottom line is that Carrick and Pogba would be a disaster as a pairing no matter what the formation. Then you have the added fact that having Rooney in front of them, will blunt our attacking threat and he gives the ball away alot which would place our weak midfield under even greater threat. It is a recipe for disaster.

Anderson and Cleverly might have been shit, but when on form.. they were young, had some energy about them and it was balanced. Their problem was that Anderson can't handle more than 5 games and that they were both at the end of the day, rather shit.

Pogba is young and energetic by the way

Do we? Yes you won the champions league last year which is awesome and I am very jealous. But 12 months ago Madrid were managed by Rafa and unless I have missed something you haven't won the league in years either?

I do not look to Spain and see an all conquering Real side.

and where exactly does Rooney play?

hopefully this is true and he plays on merit

J.Mourinho has told Rooney that he is club captain, but that does not necessarily mean that he is guaranteed a starting place. [Times] #MUFC

It was easy for Madrid and Barca when they negotiated their own TV deals, funny how you're not spunking money on every player and his dog now that that cash cow has dried up.As for not needing Pogba well:lol:,pull the other one mate.If Madrid had the money they would be in like a shot.

No worries though, we'll have him.

They won the league last in 2012, we in 2013. However they have won 2 CLs in the last three years whereas we have actually even failed qualifying for this competition 2 times in the last three years.
Surely no one can deny we are miles off them on the pitch currently.
Yes signings should help to close this gap but that we can only see once next season is over

Yes but we have done that these past three seasons. We have brought an average of 5 players per season and where do we stand now?

Wait what? Mahrez, the PFA player of the year is average? Kante, many believe was the most vital player to Leicester winning the league
And Sanches, who Bayern, renowned for their astuteness in the transfer market saw fit to buy a player, who if lives up to his potential will break their transfer record. These players are all average...?

Finally a midfielder who can drive forward with the ball. We've missed that physical presence.

Think that's probably our strongest front 6 on paper. Expecting Morgan to step it up this season.

I believe fellaini was that player. Too bad he wasn't a professional footballer.

Sanchez and Kante are both gone.

Both were months apart from obtaining, i am sure Woodward didn't wake up a few weeks ago and said he wants Pogba out of the blue.

Sanches was in our grasp and was let to slip away. Kante i see no reason not to have nicked him from Chelsea.

I'd go with that.

I would love this but all of jose's formation seem to be 4231

Real Madrid live on another galaxy to everyone pretty much. It takes a special kind of club to wait all summer to sign the best keeper on the planet for a mere 30m, only to feck up in the last minute, because you expected United to bend over. Then you release a comical statement blaming us because you were butt hurt, just as you are now. Now it seems we've beaten you to Pogba and ''Real Madrid always get their man'' is becoming more of a myth by the day.
We'll be back in the CL the season after next, see you then hopefully.

We have been shite on the pitch and have been miles behind dozens of the teams over the past 3 years.

However as a club I do not accept accept that we are "in a different galaxy" than any team.

I said it in another thread that I could see Mourinho keeping Rooney happy and at the club without necessarily playing him every week

THIS!!

grinds my gears how everyone fawns over madrid like they get things done all the time when they fecked up signing the best GK in the world by squabbling over a few million quid. They dont always get their man and every transfer window we are flexing our muscles and showing them who is boss. Its like a rocky movie where we were getting pulverized only to get a pep talk in the 8th round and we are starting to punch back!

Sanches was in our grasp and was let to slip away. Kante i see no reason not to have nicked him from Chelsea.

But there's no point talking about what could've been.

We were rumoured to have almost gotten players like Ronaldinho, Robben, Essien, Hazard etc. Doesn't mean anything because we didn't get them. Same thing for Sanches.

Kante we simply didn't want, there weren't any substantial rumours linking us to him.

So back to your original point, who are these other players we could sign?

Sure if commercial success is more important for you, but not if football aka success on the pitch is more important.

Rooney would be a right dick head to think hes entitled to play every week at 30 + now. I think he can be a fantastic choice off the bench or when played if hes in form. If Pogba is better at #10 than him then sop be it.

Sure if commercial success is more important for you, but not if football aka success on the pitch is more important.

The stature of a club is not something that changes on a monthly basis.

If it did, Barcelona would be the unquestioned footballing superpower.

No idea what you are on. It was clear the RM fan was referring to actual results on the pitch and not the overall value of the club or anything.
