Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Oh, so there's no 3rd party ownership involved? (as in, the third party would be obviously Raiola himself)

No, it's a problem between Juventus and Raiola-Pogba. Juventus want 100m, United offered 110m but since 20% of the 110m go to Raiola-Pogba, Juventus won't have 100m, that's why they want 120m from United, that way they get 100m.

That explains why they Raiola-Pogba to take a smaller cut because United probably told them that it wasn't their problem, now Lequipe think that United are going to pay the 120m at the end.

Oh right, cheers for clearing it up.

Yeah, I don't get it either. If I had the opportunity to make 20 million off this, I'd be doing everything I can to get it. He doesn't owe anything to anyone.

Not to mention that it seems he's making this whole thing happen on his own. Deserves to get paid.

Exactly. It's business. There is a ton of money in the football business. If someone thinks it's undair then get involved and become an agent yourself!

Jose Mourinho tight-lipped on Paul Pogba deal

"I don't confirm and I don't deny," Mourinho told reporters at a press conference this morning. "I cannot tell you.

"I don't think it is correct to speak about players of other clubs. My directors did a fantastic work to do 75% of the job I ask them to do. I gave them a few options. We have just 25% to do until 31 August.

"We are in great conditions to have a great market. We are calm. We have three faces to fill the profile. I am confident Mr Woodward will get the player we need to get a good balance."

1. What does the part I highlighted mean!? That there are 2 other possibilities if the Pogba deal falls through.

2. He also talks about the deadline day of 31st August but clearly he won't wait that long for Pogba to make up his mind?

I've been so confident about this signing of late, but i'm just so wary of making myself as vulnerable to this only to be gutted like we have been with all the guys already mention (Vidal, Thiago etc) I would love it to be announced tomorrow, but something tells me if it is going to happen it would be next week sometime, but I don't care as long as its announced and we are not left hanging out to dry again!

Contrary to most opinions on this thread, I think Mourinho is saying that we have 1 more position(central midfielder) to fill and we have identified 3 players to fill that. I would guess the options would be Pogba, Matuidi and Gomes(???).

Seems likely, we've been linked quite a bit to the other 2 aswell.

Sorry if this has been posted before.
Just thought it was relevant, especially to those questioning the fee.

Isnt that opinion most people in here have, because quite clearly thats what Mourinho meant. That being said i'm certain that Pogba is the number 1 choice for that position so if we can get him then that will be even better.

Come on Utd, just get this done, i hate the stench of Madrid hanging over this!.

Screw Juventus. The guy brought him on a platter to them. They're acting like pricks.
this is the part I don't get, especially with the fans. they are all oh Riaola is a cnut and pogba is this and that. they got him for nothing after we developed him at man utd. Riaola pissed all over us and shipped him off to Juve even when pogba was thinking of staying. if it wasn't for Riaola pogba would have been a Manchester United player to this day. he's got then a few scuddettos without them having to bribe for it... and they are getting 100 million euros aswel. move on!! Christ

I read other opinions on here.

Means we've signed 3 players of the 4 we wanted. Not that complicated.
He means we already have 3 of the players he wants in already, Pogba is the last major piece of the puzzle.

Real Madrid  This isn't what they're used to.

Its more then just pride.

Imagine there's a luxurious restaurant in town that serve food on premium prices that only top VIPs can afford. Suddenly they start serving wine in cheap glasses, the food isn't that great anymore and when someone complained about the steak being too cooked a 21 year old chef fresh from culinary school shows up. Meanwhile a restaurant close by been renovated gracefully and they had hired the chef which previously worked in the luxurious restaurant. We all know what would happen then don't we?

Real has built a reputation of being the top dogs. Most of the top players end up there and once they are not fashionable anymore they are sold. Sponsors pay premium because they know that the most marketable players tend to play with Real. However what happens when someone manage to outgun them not once but three times? We took ADM from them (they didn't want to pay his salary), they went on skint mode for DDG and now they must go begging around the world asking ridiculous money for James and Morata to buy Pogba. Thats not the type of attitude sponsors spend premium for.

Bringing Jose was the biggest statement for me, It showed finally that the board is determined to get the club back to where we belong. Who doesn't want to play for Jose Mourinho :smirk: except Varane

Interesting question. Some of the players who've previously played for him at Chelsea and Madrid, if rumour is to be believed.

they are fuming and it's glorious, transfer ban after this.... Ahh all is right with the world

Looks like their only signing will be Gomes for 50M.

They're stuck with this squad until Jan transfer window 2018! It's also hard to do deals in Jan so essentially, this is their squad for the next two full seasons!

Jeez how I would like to be able to answer to that

Puts it into perspective when people say "Keano only cost £3.75m".

I've never seen so many opposition team fans trying to downplay Utd as a small team. Maybe if they say it enough it will become true? We are a global superpower and 3 rough years doesn't change that.

I think that could be the problem. I don't think the Glazers even care about how shite the last 3 years have been, once the finances keep growing they care little for the trophy cabinet growing. They will prob just add another £105m onto their valuation of United when Pogba arrives.

We need to start acting like a global superpower though, our European record is a disgrace quite frankly when you look at teams like Atletico getting right up there with the best on a fraction of our budget.

True, it was a disgraceful transfer.

Haha, you know what I mean though! I've heard it numerous times, as if he was some sort of bargain bin purchase when in reality he was comparatively more expensive to us than Di Maria.

The 75% means we have got 3 out of the 4 players he wanted. What is not clear is whether his "3 to fit the profile" refers to those three or that we have three options for the final player. Either way he is looking for one last player. Hopefully it will be Pogba

This has officially overtaken the Berbatov thread for the second place. Now we just need approx 6500 post/162 pages to overtake the Vidal thread as the number one. With the way this is dragging out/how long we often take before announcing the deals could we actually do it?

Well done lads, proud moment. We'll easily beat Vidal if this drags on into August!

That's what I meant. Older fans consider it like a "Galactico" transfer, he wasn't cheap at all.

It's a business and they know we're wealthy and desperately want him.

Not us. Well, technically, si, but they're trying to screw the agent over. They knew about the 20% and were perfectly happy with it back when they got him. They're getting much more than they imagined from this.

No honour.

Agreed. As much as I don't like Railoa types in football, once he took Pogba to Juve and that he had a deal in place with them he'd get 20% of whatever fee they get in the future for him - if Juve are now trying to renege on it by essentially getting the buying club to cover that - that's just a dick move - smart business but, still a dick move. That said - I don't think Railoa envisioned the amount being talked about now, so hopefully he'll bend a little and am sure in his mind he is already contemplating how to get yet one more big fee in about 4 or 5 years - so it's not like he is going to be hurting.

how many titles can they buy though?..We can't really expect them to bend over. They are talking the piss but they wouldn't like it if we tapped up their up and coming talent.....I'm sure it'll be resolved soon enough.

That's not a smart move at all. Severing ties like that over 20 million will come back to haunt you.

Ah sorry, as you were, I thought you were joking about it being a poor value transfer.

I'm pretty sure he meant that we have 3 targets for the remaining position, which makes sense because we weouldn't be pursuing Pogba without a backup plan, no matter how confident we are.
