Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Are there any beings in existence greedier than football agents?

I hate agents as much as the next guy but its Juve being greedy here, and are totally out of order.
They agreed to a 20% agent cut if/when Pogba was ever sold, now he's being sold and they want to go back on that and have us pay the 20%.
Juve are fecking twats and i have a major headache now over all this shite.
I'm off.

Who says Real have been priced out of the Gomes deal ?

Gomes may just like the prospect of playing for Barca more than for Madrid, wouldn't be the first one either.

Real may have first backed out of Pogba because they tought €120m for him was excessive and €50m for Gomes seemed a better deal for them. Now that Gomes has decided to go to Barca, they may come back for Pogba, even if he cost more, it might suddenly be acceptable for them because the alternative is gone and they don't want to end up empty handed. Real phoned Raiola to say they were interested again and made an improved contract offer for Pogba, Raiola took off to Miami to discuss it with Pogba who is there now on Holiday.

Other scenario is, Real wanted Pogba but unsure about the price they would have to pay, Gomes was considered as an option but eventually Perez changed his mind and decided he wanted Pogba more than Gomes, making the decision easy for Gomes to go to Barca. Real asked to Raiola to hold off any deal between United and Juve because they were undecided and promised him they would come to a decision soon, which they now have and Raiola flew to Miami to discuss it with Pogba.

It actually makes more sense them him flying to Miami to finalize a United deal, because according to Di Marzio we had already agreed all the details with Pogba and it was just a matter between finding an agreement with Juve, ironing out the details between United, Juve and Raiola wouldn't require him to go to Miami, to discuss a new option with Pogba, that would. Would also explain why there has been such a hold up on the deal because first and foremost Raiola wants to give Pogba the deal that he wants, has always been my feeling that United were only second choice because Real weren't interested enough and doubting over move but if that has changed it could throw off the deal.

Won't be surprised if this suddenly takes a big U turn and ends with Pogba to Madrid

Got 0 faith in these big transfer sagas, especially if we are up against the likes of Madrid, Barca or Bayern.

Lets hope Real will want to sell us James if they land Pogba

As mentioned several times, he could discuss Real's offer (if they even presented one, which I doubt as Marca, their mouth piece says the complete opposite) over the phone. If the reports are true and he is on his way to Miami it's to finalise something, not to discuss.

To be fair, i imagine he could probably e-mail the document to him and Pogba could sign it on a tablet/ipad and send it back without meeting face to face, but you could say with the money involved they want to be ultra secure?

I don't think that kind of signature would be valid.

I really don't know though. But I believe it is the most plausible suggestion.

So your assuming that Raiola is flying to Miami to meet with Pogba about Madrid. Calm the feck down for Christ sake no one knows why he's going there.

I've said it a hundred times already but this pessimism really grates on me.

Where is Pogba's hair for confirmation on his next club? Any new pics after the hairdresser sent out the photos?

What I have read about him so far is that he bothers for only 2 games per year and that against Arsenal.
Yeah that's the real problem with him. He's very inconsistent. Saying that Newcastle as a team were dreadful last season. In a bigger team, in a different set up, he may well impress.

He would only fly there to get a signature. Everything else could and would be sorted over phone or similar.

IF Raiola has flown to Miami it probably means that Pogba will have to sign something. Which clubs are in the game I don't know.

What would Pogba have to sign ?

Player putting his signature under everything is the last step of a transfer. That happens when everything is agreed and the player has passed his medical tests. I don't see why Raiola would need to fly to Miami for that, if it is for signing something, I'd say it is Pogba who would be flying to a United medical center to do his test and to meet up with United officials to sign everything.

No this feels like something new came up which Raiola had to discuss with Pogba in person instead of over the phone. A new offer from Madrid, all the financial details, promises the club made, housing and accomodation options, weighing it off to everything that was already agreed with United, that is something Raiola would want to do in person and not over the phone.

It seems unlikely that Real would reenter the bidding at the eleventh hour. They've had ample time to think about the deal in the last month and clearly decided that Juves asking price was too high. United's interest won't bring the price down. If they wouldn't pay the going rate two weeks ago why would they cough up even more now?

It's about 2012.

I know the agreement was made in 2012. But if United, Juve and Raiola/Pogba make an agreement now on who is paying this cut to Raiola then you can be fecking sure he will want it in writing from either or both clubs to ensure payment.

Raiola is flying to Miami to meet Pogba to tell him that Real Madrid are interested.

Brilliant theory

Need to take a break from this thread. Hopefully see more news Friday regarding this.

And that's what they are discussing and what I was talking about.

Why? What has he done to deserve a 10-20% cut (if reports are to be believed) of the transfer fee?

I actually think Raiola has done a lot. He has put together a very challenging deal to extract every bit of value from the buying club. He is helping Juventus, first by bringing them the player for almost nothing, and then by selling the player. They got years of his service plus a massive payoff and lots of media exposure. He earned his money.

And that's what they are discussing and what I was talking about.

Yeah and so my original point still stands they wont care who pays them or how long it takes as long as they get their money.

United paying Juve in lump sum or installments won't affect that.

Juventus will pay them, the question is how they are going to proceed, that was my point. United have nothing to do with that.

People should man up and stop underrate their club so much. we're Man United ffs!

That would make sense in 2008, alot less in 2016.

We are Man United alright, and we are miles behind Real, Barca and Bayern aswell, that is a fact, I don't like it anymore than you do but I'am not in denial of reality.

Name me 1 player we tussled with over Madrid, Barca or Bayern and actually won ? DDG doesn't count, Madrid dithered till the last second and Dave was already on the plane if the fax machine didn't break.

It is a fecking reality top players like Pogba prefer Bayern, Real and Barca over us now. That will continue until we actually get back to winning the league and playing CL finals again instead of celebrating the second coming of Jesus because we beat Palace in an Fa-cup final.

Yea, we are Man United, we are also not in the CL for the 2nd year in 3 years and gone from finishing 7th to 4th to 5th. I want to forget the last 3 years because Mou said so, I really do, but I don't think the rest of the world will forget just as easy as that.

The panic that has set in is incredible. We're man utd, we do what we want. It's an indictment of the state of the fan base, people throwing blame around, revisionism, it's crazy. This is a probable world record deal, it's not going to be done on any of our timelines, everything has to be right for each party. People need to chill and wait for updates, whatever happens, happens. Jose has backup plans and we should trust him and the club. This is what ed has craved for years, the chance to stick it to Perez and flash his cock about, so let's chill and stop the faux outrage. Seems people are more worried about being embarrassed by what other clubs fans will say if it doesn't happen rather than actually upset about not signing the player. The ambition is there, just need to get the deal over the line, simples.

I agree with you .... but many of us have been in this exact space many times over the years.... Ronaldinio, Robben, Essien, Benzema, Hazard, Vidal to name a few .... transfers that were fully 100% expected only to be stolen in the last days or even hours!

Many big transfer negotiations have involved brinkmanship down to the last days of the transfer window: Berbatov, Torres/Carrol and Bale & DDG being good recent examples. Likewise, its within the realms of possibility that Madrid will somehow find a way to finance this deal in the last hours, and if they can, they would be Pogba's ideal preference.

I promised myself never to do it again after Hazard so am not as emotionally invested on Pogba, but of we lose out, its going to be a gutting pain! In this transfer market, you don't know until you know!!!!

you think he's travelling 8 hrs from Turin to tell pogba "hey papi, Madrid may want you, what should I tell em, Lemmi know quick, the planes ready to fly back"
Why would he have to fly over there for Pogba to sign a contract? :wenger: That's just as ridiculous as saying he would fly over there to inform him of an offer.
Things such as scanners, printers, tablets, cameras and even faxes do exist. And even if witnesses were to be legally required for the contract to be binding, why would it have to be Raiola who witnessed it?

And how do we even know that he's on his way to Miami? From Di Marzio's "gospel"? He proved just a few hours ago that he's capable of spewing BS when he was complete wrong about the André Gomes story.

Could swear nobody has reported any interest from Real Madrid?

The fact that some people have actually practically accepted he is going there - based completely on a stew of anxiety that has come out of the Andre Gomes deal? This place is baffling.

This is all getting abit to dramatic for my liking. Im starting to wonder how reliable this Di Marizo cnut is and all these other so called good sources.

Di Marzio is accurate with Italian transfers not Spanish, he said that Gomes was a target. Not that he was in line. He doesn't know Valencia and what goes on there but Juventus or a Serie A club he's the most accurate.

- He could be flying to get a signature to sort out the 20 % fee or Raiola owning him or whatever the clause currently is

- He could be flying to discuss our offer as we have negotiated with Raiola, that doesn't necessarily mean that Pogba is aware of the details

- Maybe Pogba has changed his mind

- RM have made an offer

- Raiola is just flying for holiday

- He is not flying at all

What I however don't believe is that he is flying to get our contract signed as this is always the last step and done in Manchester or London.

Why fly to Miami when he can simply have a FaceTime chat; seems enough to fend of a military coup nowadays?!

More likely is the Madrid scenario as that has been off the table for a long time, but if there is renewed Madrid interest, that would require a 3 way face2face meeting to properly articulate and close the deal.

Added to that Mourinho's point that even though he wants Pogba, he's has 'options' and won't be held hostage.

Honestly, I think this is far from over and can envisage Madrid somehow financing record deal too.

I'll name you two Valencia and Bebe boom!

Two superstars of the world game.

I don't understand why but Madrid seems to be the 'Mecca' for football players. They took Ronaldo off us, were minutes away from taking De Gea from us, they have done it to other clubs. Whoever Madrid want they get, that almsot a meme at this point.
You can't be surprised that some people are worried about them, and pretending to be above all that doesn't make you look intelligent or something, it makes you look nieve imo.

doesn't need face2face meeting!

Highly likely and would require a 3 way face2face meeting.

Agreed! :(

One way or another, this is going to end in a few days. i hate modern transfer windows. it should be like a week long bloodbath of muppet orgies, rather than this ramadan of self-flagellation.

Exactly it has happend time and time again and it usually ends in tears for us

The thing is I didn't particulary want Pogba at the start of the summer. I thought, don't waste your time chasing such an overpriced player that clearly wants to go Madrid and will likley end up there anyway. I had already long ago accepted that Pogba to United would not happen and that after Juve he was going to Madrid or maybay Barca. But then we do go for him and we want to pay a world record fee and for some reason that has never been explained Real or Barca don't want to pay the fee nor do any other clubs, so we are free to get him, so you believe and get invested and now it just has to happen or I'll lose my fecking shit. Yea Mou can say we have alternatives, name me 1 fecking player in the world that is realistically available and can offer the same quality as Pogba, there aren't any, any alternative to Pogba will end up being a let down.

It is fecking natural people freak out and panic at the first sign of trouble, given how unlikley this transfer was at the beginning and how heavily invested people are right now because of all the links and Madrid losing out Gomes and suddently Raiola has flying off to Pogba, for anyone with half a brain that is an indication of possible trouble.

Who is worried?

You seemed a bit concerned in this post (which started this conversation) that the payment terms might scupper the deal.

The problem is that if we pay in installment, Juventus will pay Pogba and Raiola in installments too. I highly doubt that they are going to just sign a 20m cheque to them and that's problematic because Raiola and Pogba want their money as soon as possible, I suppose that they don't intend to wait 4 years to have all their money.

Im sorry, but this is a seriously embarrassing post. Wind it in mate, it's only a transfer, there's back up plans.
