I don't think Richard Keys really knows anything. His information will be based on what's been reported and probably a day or two out of date at that.

I think you're right. But there are certainly going to be a lot of journos and ITKs looking really foolish if this one is not going through. Richard Keys probably the worst of the lot.

Great news, but I have a negative vibe about footballitalia. Did they say something negative about us? Was it the Marotta "no contact between clubs" tweet.
 
Can't wait to see him in the opening line-up against Bournemouth. I think along with Zlatan, he'll really be an inspiration to the rest of the team.

So, the news is very slow right now.
I was just watching this video and thought I'd post it.



Where previously he stated that business would be concluded long before 31/08.
Now he seems to be saying that "the market is open until 31/08/2016".
I guess things are going slower than he originally anticipated.

Goes by profiles of players rather than individuals. Love this attitude. If Pogba didn't come, no problem - just buy the next player on Jose's list who fits his positional profile.

That sounds great, but the 'positional profile' Pogba fits is certainly different than anyone else we've been linked to (Matuidi, Matic etc.) There's very few - if any - central midfielders like Pogba, so the idea that we can just move to target two with the same game plan we have if Pogba was signed seems odd.

Not so sure its necessarily a positional profile - probably a certain set of characteristics Jose wants out of certain players in certain positions. That said, I hope the Pogba deal is wrapped up this weekend so the narrative can change back to the squad.

Aye, that probably makes more sense. I also think Mourinho is yet to completely deploy the tactic he will adopt with this side and is still using preseason to pick out the weeds. He actually said in his post-match conference today something along the lines of 'building individual form' rather than building up the team because so many players are still out.

This is why I've always wanted Jose. He knows what he needs and will have 2/3 players lined up. Whereas our last two managers seemed more concerned with landing their number 1 target and not considering other players.

I think we will sign Pogba but if the worst was to happen I've no doubt an adequate alternative will be lined up, in this instance, Matuidi.
 
CdS also reporting that Napoli are interested in Bacca as Higuain edges closer to a Juve deal.
 
You can smell Madrid coming a mile off. I'm giving this thread a miss for a couple of days i think, i don't want my weekend being spoiled.

If Higuain is really off to Juventus, I would presume a deal is near completion for Pogba to United.
 
Spanish media now picking up Madrid making a move on Pogba. Not that anyone should panic. There is no reason to since we are so close to finalizing talks and we are only a matter of days from signing him.

Candena Ser reported that Pogba isn't a priority for them.

I believe they're reliable for Real Madrid news.

It all adds up and seems on the cards. Doesn't stop the anxiety in this thread though where there isn't much news flying around.
 
The moral of all this, is that no one knows anything, yet it's possible to be a professional knower of nothing, and presumably get paid a fair whack to write about what you don't know.
