For balance, we must also remember that Di Marzio got Gomes spectacularly wrong. Let's not hang onto his every word.

and also not to forget that he actually tweeted regret for his gomes story and said openly he got it wrong. Which really shows his commitment to getting things as accurate as possible compared to outlets like Sun/DM etc etc etc

I'd bet my ballsack on us not offering anywhere close to £120million. Juventus would be fecking mental to even consider rejecting a figure that high.

Anything over £80 million is a phenomenal figure for a player that is not close to being the finished article yet.

I just hope this gets sorted (one way or the other) in the next week or so.

No, he didn't really get it 'spectacularly wrong'. He said Juve would be looking at him as Pogba's replacement but nobody had an idea, literally nobody, about Barcelona's interest who have done the deal swiftly.

I think everyone got it wrong. Everyone thought he was going to Madrid until the 11th hour. As a journalist you cant possibly know that. If you look at the stuff he gets right vs the stuff he gets wrong he still comes out way way ahead.

Including wages it will be close to a billion by the time he finishes his career here.

Three billion actually.

One billion for Pog.
One billion for the agent.
One billion for the hairdresser.

Listen everyone is entitled to their opinion but the club goes out of it's ways to become bigger and the best way to use that reality, is to give the supporters what they want - entertainment. In this case a real good player who will improve the team greatly.

The money aspect is the nature of the beast but it's not like United will spiral out of control. As pointed out...If Madrid or Barcelona didn't show ambition and pay the money...they wouldn't have the likes of Neymar or Bale. Pogbas level is difficult to access but he has top potential. United are very intelligent about money creation. So the drama about the price from people is not needed. We know agents are parasites - but the reality is unless we remove them all we have to deal with them. Ultimately, if we are smart we'll be fine.

Signing Pogba will be a massive coup for the club considering what we've done the last 3 years down to poor management decisions. Let's continue a trend of hopefully making a correct decision. And that will also strengthen the mood of our sponsors.
That's fine. However, we shouldn't be talking about 'top poteniall' for that price. Must be a finished and deadly article. I think it's reasonable that some of us thinks it's crazy taking a huge risk at 145M Euros on someone with potential. I don't think there should be any criticism if some posters feel this way. It's totally reasonable.

Gonzalo Higuain has already signed contracts with Juventus, yesterday after medical examinations carried out in Madrid. Now, Juve will pay clause

That just confirms Pogba is a done deal by this weekend because there is no way they could afford him without the £100m they are getting from us.

How can you be so sensitive how a business spends its money to further your entertainment? Can't make peace with the conditions involved? Talk about dramatic.
How about you stop calling everyone dramatic who is not fine with us willing to meet every single demand of a selling club?

It's difficult to gauge as I said, where he is. He's played enough games for Juventus for them to consider him regular. The fans loved him. The club would only accept nuts money. He is worth the 'risk'. I think the risk is minimal.

Wasn't there an article that they can afford his clause without selling Pogba? It's hard to believe Pogba wouldn't give this team another year, because it is immense.

Sounds like things are getting close to completion now. Presumably Juventus will want to get Higuain announced before Pogba to United is confirmed.

Depends on how you look at it. In 2009 Madrid paid €94m for Ronaldo. So you could also spin Higuain as being the second most expensive player.

I seriously hope the Pogba deal is already signed off! Imagine them keeping Pogba too, incredible team!

Fantastic news, it basically confirms the Pogba deal. They're obviously paying Higuain's clause with the Pogba fee.

There's is no way Juve can afford a straight cash transfer for Higuain with the players they've already signed.
The only way Juve can do this without selling Pogba is if they included some players, which Napoli has refused.

I don't believe he's had a medical tbh. Every transfer that Juve have completed this window, they have made a fuss over medicals and plastered pictures all over twitter. I call bollocks.

Competing with average players will get you exactly what we got for the last 3 years.

Barca, Madrid and other top clubs are constantly breaking transfer records and are winning all the major honours both at home and abroad.

Perhaps there is a correlation there somewhere...
