What was he expected to say? confirm rumours and say 'yep, he's off lads, lets rejoice!'. It's called sticking up for your manager, something some of our own fans could learn from. the journo was out of order for pressing the issue less than 24 hrs after we'd won the cup.
Probably not act like a complete loony and put the phone down. If that's what you call sticking up for the manager, I hope he doesnt go into the field of public relations. A simple "I've never heard anything" or "those are just rumours to the best of my knowledge" would have done. Not going mental about something factual and ending up with egg on his face. Paddy always wants to be the big voice in the room, so you cant have it both ways. Either be a United spin doctor or always be factual. You cant have it both ways and retain any credibility.

Paddy is a bigger muppet than half the people in here.

Probably shouldnt act like a complete loony and put the phone down. Nobody forced him to go on a radio show when the rumours are rife our manager had just been asked. We.can.do.it. :)

See jokes are always a valuable contributor!

So, no pestering for updates?

To be honest I'm not trying to dictate but I feel (answering your question specifically) any updates should be fairly obvious within the last couple of pages or so whether they be credible or not. Certainly if it's something deemed significant enough you'll see a thread title change.

Maybe clarifying the details of these updates is preferable , ie are they reliable, what can we take from them etc?

Hopefully none of this will matter as we'll for sure soon anyway.

Hopefully this can be announced asap. Are we travelling back to Manchester after the game (and before we play in Sweden)? Gathered from what Jose said we are, I'm which case surely needs to be done next week.

Why would Napoli, who've been very vocal about not selling to Juve, agree to make the payment easier for them?

The post is about release clauses in theory. And it's unadvised for a club to reject a release clause, when you offer 4*25m, you offer 100m and if the release is 100m you matched it. A player would be right to go to court if the club reject it.

We all know this is overpriced, which is mainly down to our stubbornness not wanting to sell. At this point you could offer less for Kroos or Vidal and get a better player.

Wouldn't say better. I think what United have lacked for a long time is a player in midfield who can drive with the ball.

Mourinho mentioned that he knows the profile of player he wants. That means, if we don't get Pogba, we won't get Kroos or Vidal, because they simply aren't the same types of players. We'd move on to targets who have similar playing styles.

Having said all of that, if you lot get Higuain for 85M - a soon to 29 year old, who is known to flop in big games, then 100M for Pogba is justified, in my opinion.

Comparing it to Higuian then it's totally justified. Higuain fees is mind boggling.

Were there any new rumors of Juve rejecting a 92mn bid? At what point do you guys say feck it and move on to new targets?
Some say the deal is done and it's all rehashed news because the journos have nothing new to report.

We will all know more by 10pm I reckon.

I reckon you are just reackoning that 10pm thing right out of your arse

Previously discussed...

Should make a RULE if anyone starts a post with "I THINK" they should be banned from posting,
I think...

Sssoooo annoying.

'I reckon' is actually worse... inevitably followed with vacuous nonsense.

Yes that also

How are people able to do this? I scroll away from the Cafe and all I think after 5 mins is, quick, check if anything has happened.

2 days? My god.
Yeah just come back and nothing's changed

Anyway, Juve are wanting us to pay the agents percentage? Why? It's not us who wrote that Into the contact, We should tell them to feck off now. Had enough of being pissed about.

One way or the other, we will know this week coming. If it's not done by end of the week then I suspect it won't happen at all.

You can't activate a release clause in instalments, though, has to be a lump sum.

A complete nobody account (and his picture ) sharing a nobody account. Shouldn't be posted.

I may have to create a new twitter account. Stick my photo on it. Then tweet, "Pogba deal done! Announcement tonight."
I think that should get me a few thousand followers and several thousand retweets.
;)

Followed by some threats of violence!

You can't activate a release clause.

Edit:
When he triggers a buyout clause, the player cancels his contract and registration.

When a club meets the fee in the release clause, he can officially talk with the player, at no point it is said that he has to bring the money, he just have to make an offer that matches the clause.

For anyone worrying- the deal is done, do not worry. It will happen soon. Madrid are not in it. Sleep well and enjoy your lives.

I think it's been off. If Pogba wanted to leave the deal would be concluded by now. This has all the same hallmarks of Thiago and Vidal and I'm done being roped in. I wish it would happen, but I think it's been called off.

I feel exactly the same.

We'll reach 24k tomorrow lads! A few more pushes to go!

Tomorrow? When Di Marzio says it's all been agreed tonight and all that's left is the mega presentation Woody has in store, it will hit 25K tonight.

Why do people suddenly think it's off? Because theres been no real news for a couple of days?
This isn't an ordinary transfer, we're talking huge numbers, a big agents fee that needs sorting, and most probably an installment plan that needs sorting too. Then theres the other little bits that may take a little while
Patience is key, no muppet needs to give up just yet
