Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Serious question. Do people here think he's 'clean'? I mean he comes from Serie A, after all. And he's only 23 y.o. with body like a tank

Watch a documentary on youtube called I want to look like that guy. It shows what can be achieved in 6 months with dedication and no performance enhancing drugs, plus its a pretty good watch.

The bromancing has started:lol:

Would it be a bad time to say I hope we don't give in to Juve's demand for an extra €10m? Feel's like they're just trying to push us around too much now, they can keep an unhappy player if they want, we'll see come the end of the transfer window how many extra million they want then..

If we pull out of signing Pogba over 10M euros (£8M), this will be one very unhappy muppet.

Extremely bad..

This will be done this week. Quote me on that. Sources = my inner Muppet, more reliable than IndyKalia and the Sun.

I'm not advocating a pull out, just a delay. They will feel financial pressure if they spend that much in Higuain, despite their claims to the contrary. The more he pushes for it the weaker their position becomes, we know well he has the best agent for causing a fuss for an unhappy client and this time it's worth a whole lot to him too.

In don't think Madrid are in the running this Summer, once it's dine before next Summer we should be OK.

Most people don't get this. They would rather spend the money on a Vidal, a Kroos or a Kante when in fact all these players don't fit the Pogba profile that Mourinho is looking for. Pogba is first on the list and anything but him will be 2nd or 3rd on this list. A downgrade basically. I would rather get the best regardless of the price.

I agree.

Who do you think are the 2nd and 3rd targets?

The papers are suggesting it's Matic and Matuidi, which really doesn't make sense. Again, they are nothing like Pogba.

Personally, I think Andre Gomes was a genuine target, but he's gone to Barca.

Not sure who the 3rd one is.

Maybe Ross Barkley, who shares very similar attributes to Pogba - ball carrying being the biggest. I believe Mourinho was interested in him at Chelsea, but he wouldn't go cheap.

People in here will have actually been holding out some hope that pictures would emerge of Pogba with a full head of bright red hair. Give me strength.

Problem with having these second and third targets is that if we don't get Pogba, any other club we go to will know how much we were willing to pay for him, and they'd make sure to ask for absolute top money for them.
I know we pay over the odds for most players, but we'd get wiped out for any other targets i can imagine.

Definitely.

There doesn't seem to be any main headlines on the back pages of the English tabloids about Pogba for tomorrow just Froome.
The English press are nowhere on this. News will break in France / Italy and the English will write their catch up articles as 'exclusives'

That's because the English media know nothing. They'll start reporting on it once it's all done.

I would say it's the opposite actually. If we cave in to every demand from Juventus for more money then in the future the prices we are asked to pay will naturally be higher. Walking away now would have the opposite effect.

Everybody knows we are loaded. They won't give us players for peanuts.

Juventus have demanded €120m from the very beginning, if the Italian journalists are to be believed. We've offered that but with add ons as part of it, and that's where negotiations are at last we heard. It's not Juventus asking for more and more.

Doesn't really matter if we cave in to their demands or not. We valued Pogba at over £100m and were prepared to pay it, so knowing that, PSG might value Matuidi at £70m knowing we have the money to pay it. If Barkley is one of our targets, Everton might value him at £65m, knowing we have the money to pay that. They wouldn't have to budge either. We could knock them down, yes, but it'd be difficult, especially if they have no reason to sell

If we walk away from Pogba because Juventus wanted too much money then we can walk away from other clubs who we feel are overvaluing their players too. That's the point. However if we spend ages trying to negotiate a better deal only to end up paying Juventus whatever they want then clubs are naturally going to follow their lead and try and take us to the cleaners every time.

Personally I don't really care how much we pay for players (provided they are good players!).

I'm not jumping the gun, but once we get this over the line, we will all be camped out in the Griezmann thread this time next year!

Also why is everyone talking about the hairdresser thing again? Any new reports on that front, didn't that happen like a week ago?

Whatever it takes to keep the muppet juices flowing, I guess.

I agree with you, but when Jose has said we'll close one, if we leave Pogba, we're definitely get one of the other two targets, and the selling club will make sure we pay way over the odds for them. As i say, we always tend to over-pay but with the crazy money we're willing to pay for Pogba because thats what Juve value him at, other clubs could, and probably would, follow suit knowing the have the money. So what do we do? Just walk away from all deals because the selling club is overvaluing their players? I'm the same as you, i don't care what we pay, we have experts in the finance department who know what they're doing, so it's all good
