Hmm...not sure that Ronaldo is the best example of our being able to rival the pulling power of Real Madrid given where he's currently plying his trade, and with all respect to Rafael I don't recall him having that choice to make.
Our ability to attract relatively unproven rough diamonds like Ronaldo, and dare I say Martial, is not the same as being able to say that we can compete with the lure of Real or Barca for an elite player that either of them genuinely want.

I don't think you did, or at least you replied as if you didn't. There legit isn't much to go on to suggest there were real advances for Ronaldo from Real or Barca at the same time as us, especially since one had just signed the player he was bought to replaced and the other beat United to the first choice that summer(I hint at this in the post you mostly ignore btw). The same for Ruud, very little suggests they were in for him in either 2000 or 2001, at least they seemingly scouted Ronaldo along with others.

I'm not all negative on United being a bit lower in the dream club order, it's simply how it is for continental players. They've grown to be 3rd quite easily though, which is why players are joining now thanks to a good manager also with no CL for a year.
 
If Pogba doesn't want to come to United then good riddance. If we are bending over for this guy then we should be ashamed. When Fergie was at United, no player was bigger than the club. Now guys like Di Maria, Pogba are taking the club for a ride. Here the guys are like"Hey, we a big club, let's show Madrid.Let's spend money"

If we are a big club, we need to prove on the field. Not by wasting at least 60-70 million GBP (he might be worth some 30-40 odd) on some showboating prima donna. Everyday i hope we reach some conclusion and this nonsense in the media is over, but it keeps going on and on.

He can wait all he wants, but he's not coming here as long as pizza guy is his manager. United is offering twice the salary of Modric and Kroos and world record transfer fee. If Perez agrees to that for a player we don't need, there goes team chemistry out the window in a second.

He might be worth £30-40 million? You clearly have been living under the rock for the past 5 years. Now any decent player costs £30 million.

Or the silence + delay could be that United and Juve as still negotiating and Pogba has been told to keep quiet until everything is done?
There has never been one report of the delay being on Pogba's end. It's always been on the side of Juve and United negotiating according to people like Di Marzio, GdS etc... Now due to the few tweets and reports about Real wanting Pogba and not willing to pay for him, people are speculating that Pogba is holding things up to see if Real can come to an agreement.
Seems like this transfer is becoming dull, so people are looking for anything and saying anything to give it a bit more excitement
 
If this deal isn't done this week then it will never happen. I don't subscribe to this notion that in this day and age, where everyone owns a smart phone and is constantly connected to the Internet, it takes 5 days to negotiate an agents fee.

Still, I'm staying optimistic. Unveiled on Wednesday. :D

This is Nerozzi who works for La Tampa a Turin based paper and very close to Juve and a known to be a solid source. I thought he should be here instead of having a random guy quote him.

It's just speculation. The entire team comes back tomorrow, so it's not as if Woodward's rushing back for some secret transfer dealings.
 
How is saying he could close a deal for Pogba ITK atall? Or even informative for that matter. He could or he couldn't, everyone on this forum knows that. Howe easy is football journalism?

Agree but we both know that Florentino loves this fights. If he was thinking in chemistry and the squad the club would have already bought Kanté/Krychowyak or a similar player to subtitute Casemiro. I wonder what Zidane thinks about the price and wages of Pogba. I also wonder what other midfielders he has in the list.

Maybe, perhaps the club want to send the message that the player is trapped by his agent to justify the disinterest / failure

The silence doesn't worry me. It seams United only announce a deal once the player is in Manchester. Micky T was announced in that salty BVB tweet, yet we said nothing until a few days later.

If Madrid were in the tweets would be full of it instead of ambiguous 'Madrid could still... ' type efforts.

We live in an age of people wanting constant updates and journo's want to be seen to be in the thick of the action. We get what we created.

... And whichever Glazer is behind Woody in that pic looks like he is 40 years late to the awkward teen into metal phase of life. Either that or he is auditioning for the Wayne World reboot
 
This is so frustrating. This isn't happening I feel, would be delighted if it did either way we will be signing a top quality midfielder.

To be fair it is very itk. You don't know if he could because you are not on the inside and don't know Woodward's skillset for concluding deals. I think the knowledge that Woodward can conclude deals is very itk even if he sometimes cannot conclude the deal due to facing an equally, if not more, talented concluder of deals.
We might all be able to say what he says but that would be baseless opinion from us, he is itk only because he knows and therefore it is not just opinion.
 
I really wish we kept our transfers more discrete. At this point if Mourinho wants to pull out of this deal, he really can't do it without sending some fan forums into complete meltdown.
