I could be wrong, but this thread reminds me of the Mourinho thread in that it was completely obvious he was going to be our manager from January onwards, yet the same people would bleat on about the same shite to convince others otherwise.

I thought the same.

No there won't. Joses didn't just pick his name out of a hat. We'll have talked to him over a long period. You could say at the time of contact, we were talking CL football - but you can reason that by saying...well he's willing to leave Juventus for the Europa league. Just wait and see. This isn't like those other situations - worst case scenario, we're still in negotiations. Just takes time.

Fergie didn't pick his names out of a hat either yet we still missed out on targets, every manager does. You can point to a hundred reasons why he wouldn't come. Worst case scenario we don't get him, best we do, neither have happened yet, end.

LOL I can't believe how scared some of you get by the name Madrid.

Those Marca quotes are nothing at all to worry about. Zidane is basically saying the window is open and anything can happen, neither confirming or denying their interest. When he signs for us he will say oh I have faith in our squad etc. Not worried in the slightest.
I've been bullish on Real in this thread. Writing them off wrt this deal. However for the first time since this saga started I am a bit worried. And it is not the name Madrid that scares but Zidane himself getting involved. He's French and Pogbas idol and happens to be manager of Madrid. That's what worries me slightly. Though I am still confident we will see this through.

Zidane is irrelevant. He doesn't control transfers. And if Real Madrid wanted Pogba they'd still get him even without Zidane as manager.

I think there's no doubt Madrid (or at least Zidane) is interested in Pogba. He's a very good young player who can get even better. Am pretty sure some other big clubs do too, in varying degrees.

But 100+mil is a huge investment, and from the looks of it, Real (or at least Perez) aren't willing to stretch that far. The truth is, they don't need him as much as we do right now.

Zidane has wanted him from the start. Perez doesn't. Zidane isn't in control of the money, so who cares? They clearly don't either have the money, or want to spend that much on him. Their midfield is already pretty good.

It's really in our hands. From what we've all seen Pogba is happy to return to us, if we can agree the right fee with Juve the transfer is done. Madrid can talk all they like. Unless it get's confirmed they are in negotiations by the Italians I don't believe anything they say.

So what is your point? Just avoid the thread. End.

Probably a coincidence, but anybody else notice the paper style in that Adidas GIF looks like Marca?

Almost like Adidas are saying "don't believe Marca, they talk shite"

This is what I think

Real Madrid are interested in Pogba and he would rather join them then us. However for the deal to happen they need loads of money, something they currently do not have. They tried to sell James and Morata but no one is willing to spend 70m on the former and Morata's sale wont cover the costs.

Juventus are being Juventus. They are trying to pinch every penny out of the deal and that include binning Mino's monstrous fee on us. However they will have to sell a- because its crazy not to sell Pogba for 120m. Secondly because they just bought Higuian for crazy money

Manchester United are closing on the deal but they don't want to pay Mino's monstrous fee by themselves. Mino won't allow the deal to happen unless he's paid.

If Real find the money he's off in signing with them. That's a big IF. Having said that the more time passes, the more time we're giving Real to work a way back to the deal

And history is about to repeat itself ;)
Hope so mate.

Barca relaunched themselves in 2003 by signing Ronaldinho; Real did it in 2009 by signing Ronaldo, Kaka and Benzema. United were stronger than both clubs at the time.

Hopefully the Pogba signing will have a similarly transformative effect.

And Zidane said those things publicly to put pressure on Pogba to hold out. Plausible.

Zidane : "is there a chance? I don't know"

Doesn't sound very convincing to me. Doubt they are even negotiating, just saving face.

Zidane has two aims

a- to put pressure on Pogba to hold out
b- to inflate the price even further. We're the financial top dogs now. They want us to throw as much money on this deal as that will leave us little money on other deals

Zidane knows much better than any journo the situation because, surely, he talks with Pogba about what's happening and his plans. If Zidane thinks that Madrid stand a chance to get him, then it isn't a done deal between us and Juve by any means. And Zidane wouldn't show any interest if he thought that there were no chance or it was already too late to get involved.

Aye, both options make sense.

And Perez as the newspaper vendor?

Very similar to my recent post, to wit:

"So, what's new? We've always known that Real Madrid would probably be Pogba's preferred destination but they haven't been able to match the fee / wages we are prepared to pay, unless they can sell players or raise finance. Of course, the glacial pace at which we conduct our transfer business gives them every chance of doing this. Need to tie things up ASAP."

I have a different take on the Madrid thing.

I think if Madrid were genuinely in this, we would have signed Pogba by now. We'd have just outbid Madrid. What Pogba does or doesn't want isn't the issue. If we were offering more money than Madrid to juve, we'd get him.

Because Madrid aren't in this, we haven't got round to signing him yet because there's no massive time pressure on us to do so.

I've said it once, and i'll say it again.

The day I see James Rodriguez off to another team, or Kroos in Turin for a Juve medical, THEN i'll worry about Madrid coming in to get pogba.

All these concerns about Zidane, when the closest Di Marzio has said to Madrid coming in was that they were sniffing around and watching how MUFC talks unfolded.

People stressing over some baldy's quotes

Remember when people would lose their shit when PSG apparently wanted Mou as their manager. Too many weak bowel movements around here.

Well if Raiola really does take care of his clients, he would have meant these words :

http://www.caughtoffside.com/2015/0...ld-snub-real-madrid-claims-agent-mino-raiola/

Here even when new mentions Pogba liking Zidane, He mentions other clubs including it us:

Why is that Rubbish? Bale went up a notch to his current level, since playing for a better team, why can't Pogba do the same?

Key words here, we don't know how this Manchester will be and if

I think you're going OTT here. I'd understand it if Pogba was our first attempt of signing player this summer.

You have succesfully restored this muppet's spirit and drive. PogbON

I saw Andy Mittens live facebook stream.

Says theres still a difference in fees between United & Juve. Real Madrid want Pogba but will likely need to sell first to match United's offer. Thinks the saga will continue to drag on

Thankfully that cretin knows nothing. The trustworthy Italian journalists say the deal is close and that's all anyone should take notice of.
