Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

You can think what you want but the fact is that players always want to play with the best players. You talk of someone else but name no one and I can't think of anyone with similar potential. How people look at the club is very important. Just like how we view the club and so in time we don't become a selling club because theres' better 'value' out there.

We can sign Pogba and still do business. The problem isn't just the money we spend but the fact we are useless at shifting players...That's partly because 9/10 they don't want to go. IF we want to keep our talents, then we have to be seen to be able to compete so it's psychological as much as anything.

Your route and we're more likely to lose players and be talking of value in the market - while other clubs price us out.

Ehm...you cant sign someone if he chooses to sign for someone else and what on fecking earth you mean under "your route"?! I didnt say: Hey guys here is an idea,we should pull out of Pogba deal and spend that money somewhere else.

If Real start showing real intent, I reckon Woody will pay whatever. I have a feeling he has made it a personal mission getting one over them, what with him making counter random bids when they wanted DDG.

I'm surprised I have not seen this mentioned yet.

Anyone else get the vibe that even if we do sign Pogba, he'll want off to Madrid in a few years? I'd rather not have a player who doesn't seem too keen to play for us.

My first post in ages so mention me or whatever if you reply, not sure how the system works.

I totally get that vibe @S.A.N.F. We'd be signing a total mercenary with little to no commitment to the club.

In essence I agree, it starts a bad domino effect, say we pay that much for one player, what does that say with other big players we sign they will want the price we payed for pogba. I feel these crazy transfer prices would motivate clubs to work harder on their academy, bring players from within, seems like a pipe dream, but why not? it is possible. Or? the clubs work harder by scouting the best players, much like finding hiding treasures on anything, it can happen with players if your scouts are good enough.

Yes but the club is rich and will get richer and we have to see the market. More and more sugar daddy clubs. You have to make other teams worry. But what you don't do is take chances. You don't sell an established player that's happy. You don't don't bring in another body for the sake of it. Every situation has to be planned and managed. Very few players would have the potential or would be considered at such a price. Though that may change.

I'm not Madrid's biggest fan by any means, but this notion of Real Madrid as this 'big bad team' will take any of our players and transfer targets at will is a bit silly.

I do agree.
But you need to remember that fans of MUFC, dislike other big clubs like Madrid or LFC and also MCFC (due to them being local rivals).
So, when referring to these clubs in particular, a lot of our fans will be irrational, fearful and hateful.

The deal will allegedly add up to €115m, with €15m of that going to the agent and the remaining €100m ending up in Juventus’ bank account.

The Italian newspaper add that the Serie A club will call Ed Woodward either on Wednesday or Thursday to sort out the final details and formalise the deal.

As La Stampa put it, getting Pogba on a free and selling him for €100m is the deal of the century.

You can’t really argue with that, can you?

For those that were asking earlier, the La Stampa article was in euros, obviously. If Nerrozi is right, I think all sides have found a compromise. Juve get 100m euros straight. Raiola gets his fee, at a reduced price, MUFC pays the fee and Juve has no liability to pay him anything.

Thats how i'm reading this.

This is ridiculous. Who the feck is trolling your brains folks?

Look at it from United and Raiola's perspective.

We have a deal with the player and his agent. This could be Raiola's third client who signs for us, he will probably receive a huge bonus if he manage to secure all three players coming to us. Why would he jeopardize this by playing us and secretly hold talks behind our back with Real Madrid? Doesn't make sense. Secondly. He stil have his other two clients Zlatan and Mhkitaryan playing for us. Talk about conflict of interest. Even if he's greedy he's not stupid.

Paul Pogba will probably get one of the best deals in the world. A salary that not even Real can match. His agreement with United is done long time ago. You don't just brake such a agreement in the last minutes. It doesn't work like that. It's not only the fee that Madrid have to negotiate, it's salary and agent fee. Simple, isn't it.

At this stage it's only a miracle who can stop us from getting Pogba. Whatever you think or read, Juventus needs to sell, all other options is bullshit. Read about cash flow if you're nervous. United will never let this slip away, no way. It's prestige, goodwill and reputation. It would be crazy to back off at this time.

And finally. Paul Pogba. Don't you think he would start to make noises if he wanted to go to Real Madrid. The deal is just hours away and the boy is calm as a cucumber. So am I.

If we keep getting in to such deals, it obviously means that our scouting is currently at it's lowest. It might happen, that there is a positive outcome where clubs start to invest in the academy and more players come in through the ranks but such deals will also continue for quick fix outcomes and United as it is keep paying over the odds. If the Pogba deal is succesful, every team in the world will keep over charging United knowing that eventually we will bend over.

We currently have a good team capable of mounting a good challenge this season. With a good manager. Let's see how that goes before investing so much money.

Wait, what?

This is exactly why I don't understand why everyone is fear-mongering. Madrid aren't going to sign Pogba unless they sell one of Kroos or Modric, both of whom could improve us extremely. Just because he said he likes Pogba in a presser don't mean nowt.

La Stampa are based in Turin, am I right? Also hearing the article was written by their most reliable journalist. It's done.

(still Mr doom and gloom here)

I'm convinced Madrid feigned not being interested in him to the media earlier to make it look like United had this one in the bag only to be negotiating with him the entire time regardless. Zidane's little "talks" make him look good to their fans and Perez gets the view from fans as "wow he finally listened to the manager on a player and put it all on the line!". I think he's going to them, Madrid wanted to get us back for De Gea.

I dunno why I'm so negative about this but it just makes too much sense to me

It would probably be too late at that stage. But then Real aren't going to make a serious move, especially whilst Beppe wants north of €100m.

So you are just speculating? Gee the world needed your speculation...

Hang on this is it.
This is the news.
Am I the only one getting excited about this?
was posted pages ago, but everyone is acting like the sky is falling over Zidane quotes which were posted even pages before that

We have not yet heard directly from Pogba, of what he thinks of MUFC and how badly he wants to play for us.
And I do find this strange.

Before Ronaldo left us, he gave speeches about his love for Madrid. Same with Bale.
But what about Pogba's love for MUFC?

This all broke last night; which makes all the people panicking about stupid Zidane quotes ridiculous

I am yet to see one convincing argument for why Madrid would sign Pogba this summer and still, every other post in here is someone worrying about some meaningless quotes from Zidane or some crap being spouted by the Madrid based papers.

Now, if we read between the lines it clearly states that we will announce this deal tomorrow.
Add all the letters in tomorrow (each letter as placed in the alphabet). The total is 137.
Now add the universal prediction constant of the letter O (15) and you get 28/7.
28 July.

It's ON!
But if you add 137 and 15 you get 152 :nervous:

Wait...how many people are freaking out of Zidanes comments, yet have not read the La Stampa article?:lol:

The meltdown on here is hilarious. Your all acting like 5 year olds. Give your head a wobble.

Not about the possible transfer but he made that comment on some ESPN program when given the United shirt that United are his first family and Juve are his current family and that he likes Madrid too.

Yup it's on.... For about ten minutes until Zidane says, Yeazzzz but Iz like Pogba veraaay much and you never kneeeuw in footboaal. Bring him home Ed.

The only Twitter accounts worth even remotely believing in any transfer saga are always the player, the agent and the 2 clubs. 99.9% of others are just inventing stories for attention. There's no way of knowing the legitimate 0.1%.

Not to add, I couldn't give a flying feck if he "loved" United. As long as he performs on the pitch he could hate everything to do with the club for all I care. These romantic scenarios are all in the past, you'd be hard done trying to find a player who isn't swayed by money rather than passion.

It's making for some fantastic reading. I don't read this thread for Pogba news, just to witness the breakdown of overemotional posters.

Precisely. Pogba has already shown his love for MUFC when he left four years ago.

He did say he wanted to stop the best players going to Spain a couple of years ago. This is probably his best chance.
