Rather see Pogba in an advanced position, need an actual dribbler and creator in that position. Maybe the plan is to get an established ball winner.

Bailly is a good buy (impressing me).
 
I'm sorry but why oh why does Rooney still play in a united shirt. The guy has totally lost it and plays on his name alone. The last 2 managers stuck by him and they both been sacked. I thought Mourhino was good enough to see Rooney should no longer be a 1st team player looks like I was wrong. He stinks up this team.

Shaw is just off the pace but you'd expect that. Still flashes from him. Rooney has no excuse.
 
The most positive thing I've taken from pre season so far is Bailley has looked a class act.
 
Young would be the first one I'd get shot of. His versatility isn't enough to keep him around anymore. He simply doesn't have any quality.

If you're talking about his philosophy in general, i don't believe that's entirely true. His Real Madrid side used to press relatively high and the team fell back to form two lines of defense only when the opponent had managed to get the ball near the final third. So, it's not a tactic he completely dismisses. The Pogba transfer indicates that he will go for a holding player/b2b partnership in the midfield which is closer to Alonso-Khedira than to Matic-Fabregas at Chelsea where he had set his team to defend very deep most of the time. We'll see, maybe the players aren't sharp enough yet, after all the heavy training, to play like that.
