Mob Psycho 100 episode 1 is out. From the creator of One Punch Man

Kageyama Shigeo, a.k.a. "Mob," is a boy who has trouble expressing himself, but who happens to be a powerful esper. Mob is determined to live a normal life and keeps his ESP suppressed, but when his emotions surge to a level of 100%, something terrible happens to him! As he's surrounded by false espers, evil spirits, and mysterious organizations, what will Mob think? What choices will he make?

The anime based on the original story by ONE, the idol of the webcomic world and creator of One-Punch Man, is coming your way with animation by leading animation studio Bones!

Comedic anime tend to tire me out quickly and I didn't much like One Punch Man so I think I'll wait a bit on Mob Psycho 100.

Nice.

Watched Serial Experiments Lain over the weekend. I enjoyed the first few episodes the most, a bit too plodding afterwards but overall I'd say I liked it.

Also watched another episode of new Berserk:

I'm about to watch Sword Art Online for the first time. I remember when I was watching HunterXHunter, I'd browse through the rankings on a new tab whilst the intro was playing, and I always saw Sword Ar Online in 1st place.

First 14~ episodes are brilliant. I was warned to quit after that. It apparently gets very, very bad.

Now watching the third episode. I vaguely remember at the time, there was a feeling that the last 5 episodes or so were bad or something, and that SAO 2 was even worse. I take it you stopped watching after the 14 episodes, then?

Yeah I never risked it. It's a shame too, because it is really well done at the start. Definitely handles the RPG elements the best out of those style anime I think.

3 mins in watching episode 4, I've decided I'm not going to continue. I only liked the 2nd episode.

It's been a while since I watched it, so I don't think I could convince you to give it a chance. What didn't you like about it?
I like that there is no plot armour, just like Akame Ga Kill. However, the action I was craving for left me feeling a tad underwhelmed. Granted, its only been 3 episodes, but usually I get a feeling of Euphoria quite quickly.

I don't know about no plot armour. There are certain characters you can tell are never going to be offed.

There is more action later on, but if you weren't hooked early on it probably won't be worth continuing.

That's true, but for the two main characters at least they're protected from death because they're basically the best players in the game.

I like that we have a safe haven for virgins on the caf.

hehe. I wanna get into an anime soon. been a long time sinec I saw code geass.
So you're not new to anime then and have you watched a lot already? Are you looking for some recommendations as well?
Lucky you
I found that I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop more on the rewatch than my initial viewing. When I first watched it I thought it was going to be a serial as in one continuing story throughout each episode rather than the style of an episodic series, so I was surprised and also a bit put off by that. By the time I had finished it I realised what a true masterpiece it was, though. Well, not the end; more like the final few episodes. Ironically, that's when it started turning into a serial series rather than an episodic one, but I digress :p

I did enjoy the series throughout regardless, and the episodic nature of the show wasn't so much off-putting/disappointing than surprising, but it was only when I had finished that I saw why it was so highly rated amongst anime fans. So, when rewatching it, I can just appreciate it a whole lot more and enjoy rather than being somewhat surprised and disappointed by the shows episodic nature.

You should definitely check out the manga if you have some time to spare. It's really, really long; and has been on an irregular schedule for the past decade (started way back in the '80s), but once you get past the initial chapters (which are kinda labored) to the Golden Age arc - it's one of the finest works of fiction across all mediums. Miura's masterpiece - great story, vivid details, deliciously brutal (moreso than the anime), and emotionally impactful.

PS: You might have to wait for closure as far as the manga and Guts are concerned. Still ongoing. :)
On chapter 181 now, reading it whilst listening to the soundtrack, especially Behelit on a loop is just perfect.

Yeah, I think the show's withholding nature is one it's biggest strength.

Ooh, you've probably started Falcon of the Millenium Empire arc, in terms of the broader storyline, IIRC? Probably my favorite bit after Golden Age. Without spoiling too much: this is when Guts takes the next step in his character development, so that's something to look forward to; plus - a lot of pop fantasy elements are introduced (not suited to everyone's tastes, mind - but I liked 'em).

IDK, the guild, the girl, the beta tester all dying certainly gave me that impression there was no plot armour in the first 3/4 episodes.

One Piece is just too epic. I'm on 475 and I'm finding it hard to restrain myself from just watching 475-480 (the latest episode dubbed.)

Yeah, I think something about millennium popped up somewhere. It seems like the new anime skipped the whole fairy children chapter all together which is a shame as I thought it was really good but I can understand why they did it.

Whenever I go into a massive One Piece period it always ends up with me reading the manga one night and then having to wait about a year for the anime to catch up, it's happened two times so far I think.

Just managed to get thru the boring Fishman Island Arc and now at Punk Hazard which is good imo.

The worst thing about Sabaody Reunion + Fishman saga is the new, funky character design(s). Takes a little bit of getting used to, but I like the old (void of fan service) Straw Hats more. Ooh, the pace is kinda slow (the plaza seemed like it lasted years) and the litany of canon fodders that are introduced add very little to the storyline. One Piece is at its best when the antagonists have a bit of personality and plot device fodders are at a minimalistic level, instead of a whole army being CoC Haki'd in an instant. Hody Jones is the most forgettable antagonist since Foxy and Krieg. Though I guess it does serve the purpose of establishing their post-timeskip power boost. Big decline from Thriller Bark-Sabaody-Marinford IMO, but it picks up the slack with Dressrosa and Yonkou saga.

PS: Planning on rewatching Monster. Hello Johan, my old friend. :nervous:

Until the Noah bit I was quite enjoying the Fishman arc, now I'm struggling to get on with it. I mean Hody has spent like two or three episodes talking about how judgement is coming. It's really boring.

 been going through the same problem here man. It's awesome isn't it.
Honestly, I'm seriously beginning to think it's on par with Naruto as my favorite anime, instead of my 2nd fave anime.

The fishman arc is what turned me off watching One Piece. Before then I was watching every week as the episodes came out but then that acr just kept dragging on and on and was so boring. Been meaning to get back into it but just never bothered. Struggled to warm to the new character designs as well.

Episode 49 gets me everytime!

Just started Shirobako. It's an anime about creating anime, and it's very good.

Have you seen Bakuman? Has a similar premise (except the protagonist are mangaka):
