I'm hoping the new deal is one of the ceremonial titles as club ambassador...effective immediately and replacing all other contracts between him and the club.

I don't know you know... He's probably, to many, the face of Manchester United. Not to us of course, but to the general public, they'll associate Manchester United with Wayne Rooney and Wayne Rooney with Manchester United.
Sad to say there's probably quite a bit of marketing left in him, even if his football is a bit naff. I see him retiring at United in all fairness.

James Ducker saying United hope to announce the deal has been agreed (subject to medical etc) before Sunday, but because of the drawn out saga the club are reluctant to put a time frame on it
