Also, that last third of the video shows his tackles. I was thinking that a lot of those tackles would be blown up by the ref's in the BPL. It's a pity because most look legit but the BPL ref's do seem to blow the whistle for pretty much anything worse than a shoulder charge, and even then.

You can "understand" the general idea but at the end, there are some differences. You need to have a creative mind to guess that this word means this...
For example, when you take the Squadra Azzura in Italian, the first word for the team is closer to the English squad, but Azzura is closer to anything azur (blue) in French, though it's just a color not often used in its adjective form in French.
As a French, I can often read Italian newspapers, especially sports news
It's harder for Spanish newspapers and definitely not possible for Portuguese.
I know people say Spanish should be easy for me but for some reason, I don't really get what they're saying.
As a "lose" German speaker I can follow a bit Dutch and when I read Swedish, I recognize some words. But still hard.
I am also Korean by ethnicity and there, it's really not useful cause I can't really understand any of the Japanese or Chinese "natively".
When you write in Chinese characters, you can "understand" based on the meaning but not pronounce it.
When I "hear" some of the Japanese words, they make sense to me based on the Korean (and the Japanese colonization era which introduced some of their words in the language).
It's a complicated world but I suppose knowing a lot of language should be a fantastic way to get to know people, and discuss!
The french word for squadra is escouade and it comes from the italian. And squad probably comes from the french "escouade".

A great time to be a united fan. After all the downs we've had post Fergie retirement this was needed badly. Pogba is an incredible player. I still can't get my head round how good he is yet we let him go for peanuts. I honestly never thought he would be as good as he is when he was previously with us. The way he dribbles so smoothly and eases past players yet he is so tall is frightening. I can just imagine him skipping past your average prem midfielder week in week out. Then his shooting range is amazing as well - volleys, free kicks, side foots etc he has it all.
Nothing but positivity about this signing. Forget what bitter pundits or rival fans say, this is a massive statement of intent from the club. I hope United fans enjoy the following season. We deserve it!

French however is really different. There really might but a word you catch that is similar but I would say 99% boggles my mind. Learning French from English was easier. As I said I speak Afrikaans too so I understand a bit of Dutch and even less of German and can sometime make out what my German friends on The Division are talking about, although I do know a few German words that I learnt via different media.
I generally try to learn how to say a few basic things in various languages to help in my travels. Things like Hello, Food, Thank you, how much, do you speak English etc. and have learnt those few words for Thai, Dutch, German, French, Italian and Spanish.
