Chelsea under Conte | Let's sign the next Hazard, literally.

Its €40m by most accounts (not £40m). Still too money much for his footballing ability.

That said, his off field pull is likely quite substantial. Same reason we are reluctant to get rid of the likes of Oscar and Mikel.

Around €35m

They have no chance with a midfield of Kante and Matic. Neither are creative. Their fullback's are average going forward. They basically attack with 4 players.

The top teams like Barca, Madrid, City, Utd, will attack with 7

How was he in France?

He was good with PSG on the whole BUT sometimes he makes stupid errors.

Generally disappointing in the most important games (Barcelona, City).

In Brazil, the new & former NT coach consider Marquinhos as a superior defender and we already have Thiago Silva so everyone is happy

Hazard's quite creative though. He looks a different player this season. I wouldn't underestimate a title challenge from them this season.

Eden Hazard has heaped praise on one of Chelsea's biggest summer signings N'Golo Kante, saying he is "like a rat - he goes everywhere".

The Blues signed France midfielder Kante in a £30m deal from champions Leicester and he has hit the ground running, ever-present in the Premier League so far.

Kante has eight successful tackles and five interceptions and a 95% pass-completion rate in the wins over West Ham, Watford and Burnley.

And Hazard, who is currently training with Belgium ahead of their friendly against Spain this weekend, said "He gives us confidence.

"We want to try to dribble and to pass the opponent because we know, even if we try but don't pass the opponent, and if we lose the ball, then he is there behind us and he can take the ball."

Hazard has also had a fine start to the season, scoring twice from Chelsea's three season-opening victories.

Funny to see Hazard calling someone a rat

Cesc, Hazard, and Willian are creative enough. Plus there's the option of playing two up top with Batshuayi like we've done a bunch already to great effect.

a) Teams attacking with 7 players are more likely to lose. I would love for City and United to attack Conte's Chelsea with 7 players. They will get ripped apart.

b) The day a Jose team attacks with 7 players. I will pull my hair out and eat them with my hat. I love Jose but his teams dont attack let alone with 7 players.

c) You are no where near the same bracket as Barca and Madrid (footballing ability wise).

Batshuayi and Costa is still attacking with 4 players.

They needed a creative CM. Cesc is good but not great. Matic and Kante = 0 goals, 0 assists, 0 creativity. You need players to feed and play around Hazard, Willian etc.

If I was manager, I would play Oscar in CM and bench Matic.

Can't see 3 at the back working in the Premier League, we've seen people try and fail. Even though Conte is a master of that formation I can only sense disaster and Hazard won't be able to pull magic off to win the a game all the time.

Very good signing for Chelsea would have liked him at OT for defensive midfield. Him and Kante are good signings for them.

Wow, wish I had your sources on an undisclosed transfer which has not even happened yet.

How about your sources for the £110m + agent fee you used for our Pogba transfer? They dried out?

Yeah, our mercato is strange.
Tbh, you already have an excellent squad so it would be very hard to improve on what you already have but it's been a strange summer.

I was convinced you'd go all out for a marquee signing (Hazard or Pogba) now that Ibra's left and sign another striker but you've been pretty quiet.

Two questions though.

1. Will Areola be a starter this season? Trapp is a shambolic GK imo while Areola showed a lot of promise last season
2. Are you certain Krychowiak will be a success? You're a possession team that builds from back to front yet you signed a pure destroyer with limited ability. Thought Rabiot would be Motta's successor.

1. The club did want a marquee signing (Neymar, Griezmann, Aubam, Busquets, Lewandoski...) but they didn't want a boring league imho or the club is not a seller.

2. Trapp has played the 2 first games in the French league. On the other hand, the coach wants a big competition between them. I think the GK number 2 is likely to play 25 games against 35 for the GK number 1.

3. I think Motta will disappear. Rabiot could do the job but I think he is better as a box-to-box. In fact, the coach wants to alternate between 2 tactical systems: 4-3-3 & 4-2-3-1.
I don't know if Krichowiak will be a success but I know that Motta - 34 years old - is finished.

4. The coach is (maybe overly) creative so he will make a lot of tests/experiments.

A lot of talk PSG still owed some payments from the previous deal, and that the actual net spend for Chelsea on Luiz, will be £10m

Anyone thinking they have no chance at a title challenge, is foolish.

They need to move Azpi to RB, Alonso to LB. or have them as wingbacks. Immediate improvement

With Atsu to Newcastle, 37 players out on loan now. Waiting for Miazga to be announced.

Has Van Ginkel gone anywhere yet? Solanke as well maybe (his contract issue might mean he stays). Surely we can get to 40.
Van Ginkel is injured else would have gone to PSV ages ago. I am assuming Solanke stays as 3rd choice.

We could have made 40 if Van Ginkel and Kane wernt injured. Has to be a record of some sort.

Why is Conte not giving all those fantastic youth players a chance that Chelsea have?

The ones that evil Jose rejected and wouldn't play. Isn't that right @Damien? I'm sure you were telling me about the fantastic youth system Chelsea have. Looks like not many are going to get promoted under a new manager too.

They do. New manager, same old shit. Only thing different is the results. Chelsea doing well at the moment.

So if Chelsea play with a back 3 (they probably will sometimes even if its not their default formation) what do we think the team would be?

Courtois
Terry - David Luiz - Cahil/Zouma
Alonso--------------------------------Azpilicueta
Kante - Matic
Willian ----------------- Hazard
Costa
Having looked at that again, you could actually play David Luiz as a defensive midfielder (which would probably make more sense as he is probably better there) and go to a back 4. Maybe you could swap out Matic with Fabregas or Oscar (who I don't rate)

Probably not the time or place for this, but I've always felt like Chelsea made great youth teams, but not great individual talents.

Going back to topic, Luiz might not be a Conte player but Bonucci (albeit at a younger age) got his act together under Conte at Juve before exploding even further under Allegri. I'll keep an eye on how he develops this year.

They will be definitely be in the top three come the end of season. Like has been said earlier, it'll probably be a three horse race between them, us and City.

Hazard is unplayable on his day, the best player in the league, even over a fit Aguero. He'll make sure they get the goals, while Conte and Kante will take care of defence the way they do.

Or possibly

---------------Cahill-----Terry-------Luiz
Azpilicueta--------------------------------Alonso

-------------Oscar-----Kante---Matic------

-------------------Costa---Hazard--------

Yeah that's what I think too. It makes sense too. Conte/the board probably thought the squad could do with another versatile player/defender but who and for how much at this late of the transfer season? Then there's question of, could this player perform and fit into the squad?

So for Chelsea because of the money they are owed, it's basically a low 'fee' taking back Luiz, who's knows the league, the team and is able to come in so late with no real issues/drama.

For Luiz, he picks up a signing on fee of some sort of or he just does whatever his agent (who's getting another commision) says probably because that's how he's got to where he is (being super financially succuessful).

With that logic, sure why not?

So a City and Chelsea hybrid would win the league.

Would be utterly pointless to buy Kante AND play 3 at the back THEN play Matic as well. It's got to be

------------------Courtois
----------Cahill----Luiz-----Terry
Alonso-----------------------------Azpilicueta
--------------Kante---Fabregas------
------Willian------Costa---Hazard--------

Maybe Oscar for Fabregas... but anything else is just far too negative.

If money was to be spent then better on someone else than him.

For me he is better than Morgan Rojo and Jones. We could have hypothetically offloaded those 3 and brought him in. I would have happily seen Pogba pushed up into the 10 role and exit Rooney and Luiz and Fellaini in behind. That would have been such a physical team and Luiz has more football in him than Fellaini also. Plus he could have covered at CB if needed. For me he would have been a good signing.

All these changes you're mentioning are just unrealistic in one summer.
