Carrick is the best DM we have. He doesn't have great mobility but he reads the game ridiculously well and breaks up play by always being in the right place at the right time. His passing is also far better than any of our other Dm's. Carrick behind Herrera and Pogba has to be worth a try and no this isn't a knee jerk reaction. If anyone has seen my ideal line ups posted previously it is Carrick behind Herrera and Pogba in a 4-3-3.

When Carrick plays well, we play well, it's a fact at this point, get him in there.
Over the last few seasons, he's barely played well.
I think he was very decent in about a dozen games in 14/15, otherwise he's been shite since we won the league.

We've had plenty of games like today with Carrick in the team. He isn't the answer.

Combined with current players, especially Pogba it could be.
One person won't be the answer, just as just dropping Rooney isn't the answer, but Carrick would certainly improve us when in possession of the ball.
Well it could be but based on his age, performance levels over the last two years and his injury record it's highly unlikely.

Too true. Changing this or that player for this and that player will not change the root of our problems as a team. We lack proper coaching in terms of movements, creativity, movement off the ball and so many other things...
I'd presume the posters who rated him back then, defending him against the "passenger" nonsense comments are still those who want him put back in now.

Putting everything else aside his injury record alone means he's not a viable choice for the remainder of the season.
Agree that its just not working in midfield. The reality is we don't have a midfielder capable of doing that lone DM role. So why try and force it.
Just play Blind and Hererra as a midfield two with Pogba having a free role in front of them. If we have a game that needs some height just pull one of them out for Fellaini.

Why not we slot Rooney to wide areas and get in Carrick,our right wing is invisible and available for Rooney.
