No one, not even someone like Sir Alex, could be right about everything. It's just how the world is, not just football. It doesn't mean anything.Just another friendly reminder that the kneejerk couch potato masses know feck all about football.

Anyways, on a day when we've had the best win and performance of the season, someone was sad enough to bump an old thread and to trawl through pages to quote posters who thought 2 players would be offloaded by Mourinho for various reasons. Stupidity like this should be discouraged instead of classified as friendly reminders.
It's a forum, people state their opinions on an article, shocking. Then perhaps its not a good idea to jump to conclusions about certain players.

It isnot an outlandish conclusion to say these 2 players could have been offloaded in the summer, they haven't played this well consistently over the last few years so even on the other hand we should wait and let them perform over the whole season before singing their praises. If anything the over reaction of praising over one good game is knee jerk more than saying they are candidates for being sold based on 2 years of football. Then perhaps its not a good idea to jump to conclusions about certain players.

Kneejerk opinions no less. If anything this and other threads expose the short sighted amateurishness of our resident instant-gratification posters.
But in this scenario Blind and Mata being sold was not a bad or kneejerk opinion to have at the time. Even now when all our players are fit and firing these two will most likely be bench players. It certainly wasn't outlandish to think they would be sold, but the angry kneejerking about player x or y is uselesss is a problem around here.
Are you expecting some kind of amnesty for bad opinions?
I'm pretty sure saying "let's wait and watch" is an opinion about being patient and not rushing to judgement. It only shows people can be wrong about things. Unless ofcourse, someone wants to push further for more deeper conclusions which is always an option seeing as some tend to use their time for the weirdest of purposes as seen by scholesy's effort and timing of the bump.
I'm not even sure what your point is tbh, a thread was created quoting an article saying blind and Mata would be axed by Mourinho. Do you expect people to say, "let's wait and watch" and go off without giving their opinion? That'd make caf a brilliant forum seeing as you'd expect people to do the same in other threads too. Not give their opinions because some idiot would wait months and trawl through threads quoting them if they're wrong.
Absolutely is. I'm saying that'd be an unrealistic expectation on a football forum and if done so in every thread, worsen the forum experience anyways.I'm pretty sure saying "let's wait and watch" is an opinion about being patient and not rushing to judgement.
Yall will turn on Mata and Blind again next bad result. The game is the game.

Not the possibility of them being sold - that was a realistic opinion (I had it as well). That isn't the criticism here - it's various muppets describing them as useless and other similar terms in other threads when they are clearly fantastic players that any good manager would consider including as they build a top quality side. In Blind's case, he's apparently so good that Jose has backtracked on his "I prefer specialists" comment before the season started. The broader issue of course is that it's always best to be a bit aspirational and give players a proper chance than be an angry post-match kneejerker who can't see the forest from the trees.
I don't believe they are useless and agree that would be a kneejerk opinion. I just think we have better players in their positions and if they were to be sold its not that big of an issue. They don't have the same status of a De Gea or Rashford in our squad. I don't believe that's a bad opinion to have so was puzzled when I was quoted in the the original bump.
I'd argue that both are two of our more important players, as was illustrated today.
Blind was easily a top 5 player for us last season. Of course, wanting him to be sold was a kneejerk option. But in this scenario Blind and Mata being sold was not a bad or kneejerk opinion to have at the time. What has Mihktaryen done to be ahead of Mata, in your opinion. I'm genuinely curious. If they are willing to stay backup I don't mid them playing for us at all, they have their uses. Martial, Rashford and Micki are ahead of Mata for me and Shaw and Bailey are ahead of Blind imo.
Yes and we had a terrible season, Blind as CB is a disaster against certain players/teams see Swansea and West Ham away last year. Mata was hugely inconsistent, but agree we should see how he does as no. 10.Blind was easily a top 5 player for us last season. Of course, wanting him to be sold was a kneejerk option.
Mata hasn't been played in his best position for most of his time here, but he still contributed a lot, scored goals and made assists.
Hasn't really had a chance yet, we paid a lot of money for him and was the best player in the bundesliga. He deserves a run, at the same time Mata doesn't deserve to be dropped after today, but I don't think he can perform like he did today consistently so will get dropped eventually. What has Mihktaryen done to be ahead of Mata, in your opinion. But he isn't, he just had some bad games in a space of a year. Smalling had a few terrible games too (including last match against Watford) or last year against Wolfsburg and Newcastle, is he a disaster at CB too?Yes and we had a terrible season, Blind as CB is a disaster against certain players/teams see Swansea and West Ham away last year. You think he should start over Smalling and Bailey? But he isn't, he just had some bad games in a space of a year. Smalling had a few terrible games too (including last match against Watford) or last year against Wolfsburg and Newcastle, is he a disaster at CB too?
Both are solid players, who for the vast majority of matches are good, in some matches are very good (both of them today, for example) and in some matches are bad.
Saying that he is a disaster is definitely kneejerk. Blind started 7 matches this season and was in all of them from good to great, bar the City match when he was awful in the first half, but very good in the second one.
Good job experts. They are arguably our best players.
Giving opinions isn't in question here. It's the negativity with which they are given that is the problem. A bit of constructive criticism would go a long way in improving these discussions.
You think he should start over Smalling and Bailey?
Edit: I didn't say he's a total disaster, only in certain circumstances.
We paid a lot of money for Mata and at one point he was arguably the best player in the EPL with Chelsea. It's win-win for us if Miki reaches the same level here, but it's far from certain.Hasn't really had a chance yet, we paid a lot of money for him and was the best player in the bundesliga. We shall wait and see, will be interesting now Smalling is fully fit and when Shaw comes back. Blind is a good squad player for us imo , if he's content with that then all is good.Blind will certainly start almost 80-85% of the games that he is fit for. Mourinho clearly rates him very very highly.
