Premier League Gameweek 7

We need a player like Son - an energizer bunny hassling and chasing down lost causes.
You very well know that if we'd bought Son, people would be talking about how we're shopping for second rate players, players who wouldn't get in the best teams. Spurs, like Dortmund are fluid and coherent because they have managers who are very good at building that type of football. They believe in a system, work on it obsessively and try to play it all the time. It's a bit like Barcelona without the stars. No amount of Sons or whoever will make us play like that without the work on the training ground and the patience it takes to see it develop.

Even though the focus today is on dapper technical fannies it is still pace, power and pressing abillity that wins you games in the PL, as demonstrated by Spuds today.

Aiy I really am impressed by this spurs side. Written off by everyone.

So far proving last year wasnt a fluke. In fact they seem improved.

No longer even that reliant on harry kane's goals.

We just need the time to build a similar team. Getting rid of the slow plodding dross would be a start.

Agree that names really mean nothing. Would much rather sign a Bailly than a Di Maria.

I think we need a lot more than time really. We need a fundamental overhaul of our structure, strategy and vision. I thought we had a vision with van Gaal but it turns out they just picked the best man available - and possibly they didn't even pick that right. They've done the same again this summer. That's a really short-sighted way of working.

satisfying to see that guardiolas possession game has been completely fecked off today. No dodgy penalties given in the first 15 minutes and surprise surprise, his team capitulates under pressure. Especially his defence.

Id just be happy signing younger players we can develop. Especially in central midfield. Sanches would have been a great partner for Pogba. At least in the long term.

Go back to our roots of scouting for talented youngsters and molding them into a team.

Safe to say spurs have the best defence in the league? Two years running now. Vertonghen and alderweild so underrated. Both were rejects too. Vertonghen practically had to beg to play in central defence. Alderweild was a loanee at soton

We didn't turn away from signing Sanches (all account agreed). It's the delay from sacking LVG (who didn't sanction the transfer) that ruined the deal. We have Rashford, Martial, Shaw, Bailly (even Pogba is young) who are young and potential great we can be busy enough to look after. We just need some stability and work on that.

Danny Rose throwing himself around trying to get someone sent off, silly. Spurs are far better side all round today.

Quite a few posters look silly for saying Spurs would fade away this season.

What a week if they see this through.

Seriously, how do Spurs and Liverpool do this? Is that sustainable over a whole season?
For Liverpool, probably, considering they have no European commitments. I reckon Spurs can also keep it up well, considering they're squad is relatively large.

7 games into the season. City was looking good at the start of last season. Us under LVG was top of the league for a week... And both fought for 4 place in the end.

After an international break the momentum can be turned easily in this early stage of the season.

Spurs still pressing City high up. Good to see, considering how hard they've worked all game.

I remember nearly everyone saying we'd be top at Christmas because of our easy December fixtures. That turned out well

Spurs are beating city comfortably we are still celebrating Rooney not starting as victory. Need to sort the lineup and raise our game by 50-75% to have any hopes of top 4.

 Remember that quite well, and Leicester with their tough fixture.

Edit: we were top of the table 7 into the season last year under LVG. Tottenham was bout the same amount of point from us to top now last year.

They actually look a better side with Son upfront instead of Kane to be honest.

Was going to say that but I think son is in good form right now. kane's goals have really been vital for them in the middle/latter part of the season.

They cant possibly play with this intensity for EVERY game right? Can they?
