Fellaini and Young... 3 managers and still the same. Expecting us to be down early. Spending the second half one dimensional crossing into Ibra and Fellaini. Then Rooney comes on..really disappointing line up. Mata has been one of best players lately, had to have started. Still gotta have faith though..

I don't understand Fellaini starting this one. They're not exactly a physical side and he is liable to be slow in possession which is dangerous with their high press.

Not surprised Mata was dropped. Young is the only genuine surprise, but even that sort of makes sense to me now the initial shock has worn off.

Young and Fellani better justify their selection. Where the hell is Martial?!

    Why the hate for young?

good move by Jose, he's got bags of energy and we need all the energy we can in this because we know Liverpool will play high tempo, I think bringing in young is a very shrewd tactical move by Jose.

Why on earth are people crying because Memphis isn't picked, he is complete dogshit, offers about 1% of the effort young will show.

Liverpool are vulnerable from setpieces. He's gone for a tall side with decent crossers in.

I agree. When Depay is the alternative then suddenly Young doesn't look so bad.

Yep, Depay will come on when we're 2-0 down and blast a few over the bar or put a few crosses behind the goal

Don't get the cries for Depay by some. Totally agree he shouldn't be near our line up least of all today. We must acknowledge we need work rate and quality in midfield. Whilst he may have potential to produce the latter, he doesn't offer the first.

Quite clear why Young is starting over Lingard.

With Fellaini playing as an 8, we're going to cross a lot. Young is a better crosser than Lingard or Depay, so he makes the cut.

    Where's Micky T?

That line up. Guaranteed shit on a stick football. All built on keeping things very tight at the back. Concede an early goal, and there are huge problems.

Underwhelmed with the line up. Mata is always one of our better players vs Pool. They will run us off the park when we have so little ball players in the team.

Brutal honesty by Neville on Rooney: "Been issue over the last two or three years as to when Rooney will be dropped"

He's bloody changed his tune, hasn't he painstakingly backed him,for England as well?

And now, when there's seemingly a consensus he needed dropping, he's making out he knew It for years?

Don't think he has much of a choice. When City came out guns blazing in the first half, Lingard retreated back into his shell and gave a pathetic performance. Depay has been crap, so I'm not sure which manager would give him the chance under such difficult circumstances. I wouldn't trust either of them in a game like this.

Young is the better choice for now because he's experienced and works hard for the team.

But on the other hand, Mata would have no answer to their quick play and pressing.

The thing is Fellaini is atrocious at attacking set pieces, he's very good defending them. Pogba, Smalling and Zlatan are all better at attacking the ball from set pieces. I think it's sad to be honest, that we've got to the point where we're picking a basic non footballer for the purpose of "causing disruption from set pieces".

This will be a miserable night I'm sure of it.

Agree on bouth accounts. Lets hope we can keep it tight and suckerpunch them. Otherwise this will be a long and tired night. I just dont see any positivity from that lineup.

Anyway, I've got a pot of tea and a full pack of fags so I'm ready! C'mon United!

    Bloody nervous here:(

Neville's no longer involved with England now so he will be a bit less biased towards English players now as there's not that conflict of interests.

Hang on, didn't Young and Blind look great at combining a few games on the left under LvG?
