How many of the players starting today were here when Ferguson was?

Ridiculous post.

5. De Gea, Rashford, Lingard, Rooney and Pogba. A fair chunk of them!

The rest? Rojo, Depay, Darmian, Ibrahimovic etc haven't the mentality
What are you talking about?

I've no idea how that has anything to do with what I said

Oh do you not? Isn't that believable?!

If blaming Fergie, 3 years on, is pathetic, then so is blaming Busby for the lack of success throughout all those years.

The two go hand in hand, Randall

Ridiculous post. Do you happen to know the numbers for the coming national lottery?

Seriously, I am worried just like everyone else that we struggle in the league, but it's been 10 games into the season.

Ridiculous how exactly? We are drifting further and further away from the chasing pack as each week passes. When you look at it: City, Arsenal, Liverpool , Spurs and arguably Chelsea are quite ahead of us so finishing 6th is not unrealistic at all. We cannot afford to keep dropping points but we keep doing it. If you think we are going to challenge for the league you are deluded .

Completely agree. But how do you fix this club? What's the solution? There's very little we haven't tried.

Do we simply believe in Mourinho, say he's the right man and give him another season even without top 4? Do we go the 'patience' way, leaving ourselves exposed to the abilities and decisions of a manager that has many, many question marks over him?

Or do we not get top 4, have the Adidas deal's value slashed in half then be somewhat forced to get a new manager, since that's been the standard for the last two sackings?

If Mourinho thinks this squad needs a clear out, then he needs quality players to replace them. But will those quality players come, when our financial strength will be weakened and they see that even a world-class manager can't make this team successful again?

How long before our best players start to look elsewhere? Will De Gea and Martial put up with more 5th/6th/7th place league finishes?

It's doomsday material but if you really think about it, it's the reality and the future looks terribly bleak. I don't care how well we play when we don't win matches. This team has a genuinely serious problem with winning games consistently and that's what leads to all the other consequences. I don't care how well we play if we can't make it count.

Relax, only 11 games of the season gone.

Appreciate some attacking football! remember Klopp came in last year, produce some good performances but they puldnt string wins together. Jose needs 6 months, and if we hang around 5th place then we have 18 games to get into the top 4.

Very good interview from Rui Faria. Looking very level-headed and professional.

He was very poor in the first half

Not for the first time he clearly needs a kick up the arse at half time

Played some absolutely brilliant passes and created at least a few chances throughout the game. That one cross straight to Ibra's feet was amazing. Only for Ibra to completely miskick it 5 yards from goal.

Drove us forwards and took on players.

Sometimes I dont know what people are watching. Its been a long time since we had a player of his calibre.

Two matches in a row at home which this happened. Its not coincidence anymore. Its bad finishing. Lack of cutting edge.

Changes need to be made.

It's the first, not the second. You don't create chances to miss if you lack cutting edge. It's why I much happier with this season so far than last season.

Defence didnt have much defending to do but made easy work of what they did have to do.

Midfield dominated, created and ran the show. Mata great, Herrera good and Pogba's best game yet.

Zlatan well involved in the play but cost us again with his terrible finishing.

Fellaini and Rooney lost us our cutting edge with their elephant touches.

One of those days. One of those fecking days. Anyone who uses this excuse should feck right off. You make your own luck. We can't have "these days" every week, not every referee has a bad game when we play and not every keeper has a "game of their lifetime" against United.

100% agree , a lot of heads stuck in the sand among Utd fans who cannot face up to the reality that we are actually in a bit of trouble here and need to look at ourselves.

For the last few years we have put everything down to bad luck , bad decisions, bad selections etc etc , a lot of would of's could of's ifs etc after every match

But the reality is that we have just not been good enough and at the moment we are still not good enough to compete at or even near the top.

They had enough to be rated by the board software, and seriously tell me that Rooney and Fellaini did much of anything? They just came in, were slow to release the ball and took our general play down a peg.

The people voting Zlatan below Rooney and Fellaini are fecking idiots.
I certainly won't - just trying to justify how people are voting (I don't vote myself, because I hate the concept of it). I think those three were about equally appalling.

Don't see what the subs have to do with it being unlucky, on a different day we could have been well ahead before the sending off. I agree they were poor substitutions though. Not sure who we'd have swapped Ibra for though, not like Rooney is a bigger goal threat, indeed he wasted a great opportunity, not even hitting the target from inside the box.
That Ibra chance is one chance you want to fall to a guy in form, he has misssed crucial opportunities at critical stages in matches yet he continues to play 90 minutes of every match and you call it luck that we have failed to score in the last three matches. Fwiw Rooney is not the striker I had in mind to replace Ibra, Rashford could have led the line and we could have done with a better dribbler and creator on the left - after paying £30m for one in the summer its hard not to blame the msnager that's freezing him out without giving him an opportunity.

Neither challenges on Darmian were penalties. We would have been pissed if someone like Shaw had a penalty against them for a good tackle. Not really sure why Clattenberg is getting so much bashing. We didn't win because we didn't take many open chances. A very unfair result, from a pretty good performance.

All 3 challenges could quite easily have resulted in a penalty, the first and third were stonewall in my opinion. I don't think we should be blaming the ref for todays game, but that does not detract from the fact that his performance from a refereeing point of view was questionable at best.

A more "understanding" ref would have have accepted Herrera's challenge as purely accidental and unavoidable as he clearly slipped, no malice was intended whatsoever. Plus sending Jose to the stands for showing some over exuberated passion was harsh as well.

We could've scored, how many times we say that. It's been that for the past three years and it seems to continue to be the problem.

It's the same thing almost everytime now. No consistency whatsoever. Good performance, play some good football but couldn't score, hmm. Just one of them days. Too many of them though.

It's just like Jose said, I think, not enough winning mentality within the team. I want some of those sore losers that frustrate, confronting, aggressive, and not be there at the end of the game smiling and shaking hands and walk off.

Think this is modern football with almost every players are play acting and just there to collect pay check at the end of the day.

But we did break them down, repeatedly. It was the finishing that was at fault and at the end of the day you have to look at that as just 'one of those days' - a real statistical anomaly.

But again it doesn't matter if it happens on a regular basis. Look at Stoke for example, it's happened twice already this season so we cannot keep using it as an excuse. We have to be better.

Are you drunk?

Yes I am aware people used busby as an excuse. It's not a good excuse though. And certainly not one I ever agreed with

I hope Zlatan isn't the new Rooney. Ageing superstar undroppable no matter how badly he plays. Everything is slowing down when it gets to him.

Didn't see the game, so can't criticise anything, but it sounds like we played very well.

We are definitely making it difficult for us regarding the top four position, but still a lot of points to player for obviously. The problem for me, is that if we don't make the top four....I certainly don't want to be playing Europa League next season either!

Anyone find it annoying that Rojo insists on shooting from 40 yards twice in the game. once on the 93rd min when we need a chance.

What a shite player.

This is what's worrying me.... the club can't afford this.

We can win EL though and get to the CL directly. :D
This year I mean.

You're asking me am I drunk, while accepting that blaming Busby for the lack of success was a reason/excuse?

As someone who is sober, I'd suggest thinking before you post

For those disparing, here's a thought:
Today, in 1 game we had 37 attempts at goal. Last season, we'd have needed about 5-7 games to get that many shots off.
So, in terms of attack, we are definitely moving in the right direction.

We just need to hope that in future we don't come up against a God-like GK.

that didn't happen today at all. He was involved in a lot of our best moves today with quick, short, sharp passing at the edge of the box.

Happens too much this though. Basically we have become that Liverpool type side that could never break down these type of sides and that's why we will finish around 6th this season. People won't want to admit it but that's the truth.

yep. That's what we used to slate Liverpool for and why they belonged in 6th/7th. Awful.

I certainly won't - just trying to justify how people are voting (I don't vote myself, because I hate the concept of it). I think those three were about equally appalling.

Ibra didn't just fluff a bunch of chances, you know. He set up chances for others to fluff. To make him out to be our worst player... he did far more for United's cause today than Lingard, Rooney, Fellaini and Rashford, and yet he's getting panned as if he should shoulder most of the blame. It's ludicrous.

Hard to feel good about that match when we couldn't get the win, but the signs are obviously there that we're improving. The attack bar Lingard looked good and but for Ibras poor finishing we'd have won by a few goals. I would argue it was Pogbas best match as well, he dominated Burnley and always looked dangerous.
Mata was brilliant yet again and but for the post he'd have got himself a goal. We just have to regroup and look to take three points from Swansea in the next match. All in all I'd say we're looking alright though, still all to play for in the league, although we really need to start putting chances away, looking good in the league cup and the Europa as well.
My only worry is Ibra really isn't cutting it at the minute, but given that we have Martial and Mkhy not fit our only option is to keep him there whilst Rashford is shunted out wide. Although he's still getting chances and hes still making them for others as well. That said it was criminal not to put that chance away in the last few minutes. I'm sure sooner or later it will all come together and we'll start picking up points, we're dying for a long run of wins right now.
Mourinho is slowly changing the side for the better and I have a lot of faith in him to sort us out, keep around the top four by Christmas and get one or two players in January (a winger definitely and perhaps a striker depending on ibra) and I think top 3 is by no means out of reach, though I think we're starting too slowly for a title push.

Summed it up mate.

Pogba second half was different class, Mata as well and I thought even Darmian looked good going forward.

You've lost me

I'm not saying it was good excuse. But I know people used it to blame for our lack of success

People gloating about our performance after a draw against Burnley at home baffle me.

They gave us so much space, so much time on the ball, so many corners, any top team would be expected to perform well against them.

It's pathetic that we couldn't grab a few goals. Their goal-keeper was good today but still he plays for Burnley, he should be beaten.

We have some problems for sure.

What'd he say?

That he is very proud of the players and that basically we played some of our best football this season with 11 men on the on pitch. When asked about Mourinho's sending off he said that he doesn't know what happened and that whoever is interested should look at the referee's report.
