Players aren't up for it. Haven't had a genuine world class attacking player at the club since RVP in Ferguson's last year. Questions being asked about Mourinho as well, which I didn't think would happen this early in his career here.

I hope Zlatan isn't the new Rooney. Ageing superstar undroppable no matter how badly he plays. Everything is slowing down when it gets to him.

It's worse than Rooney because of his stupid PR machine that convinces people he is some God. It's a bit ridiculous how he keeps on playing 90 mins.

People will take it positively, but much like the Stoke game, it just further emphasises we lack the individual ability to break down teams like this. It's probably there in players like Martial and Mkhitaryan, but they don't yet seem to interest our manager for some reason.
Good post

It's the first, not the second. You don't create chances to miss if you lack cutting edge. It's why I much happier with this season so far than last season.

We are fine with creating chances/shots at home. Thats a given since teams sit back and dare us to break them down. Which we fail miserably because we cant finish.

Away from home we are blunt and toothless. Neither have the pace nor the creativity to be a constant threat.

Yes its better football than last year, but please oh please give the young players a chance upfront. Give Mkhi a chance. Lets not play anymore slow players. It just doesnt work.

that didn't happen today at all. He was involved in a lot of our best moves today with quick, short, sharp passing at the edge of the box.

I do wonder if people are actually watching the game.
Ibra's finishing is not up to scratch, but everything else is top notch. The clever flicks are something which Rooney simply isn't capable of doing, even in his prime.
In fact, if it were me, I'd try Ibra in No.10 position with Rashford up front. So, this way, we get to see him create goal scoring chances, while Rashford can use his finishing ability to score goals.
I just don't think Ibra can be our No.9.

That Ibra chance is one chance you want to fall to a guy in form, he has misssed crucial opportunities at critical stages in matches yet he continues to play 90 minutes of every match and you call it luck that we have failed to score in the last three matches. Fwiw Rooney is not the striker I had in mind to replace Ibra, Rashford could have led the line and we could have done with a better dribbler and creator on the left - after paying £30m for one in the summer its hard not to blame the msnager that's freezing him out without giving himp an opportunity.

Yeah but Rashford is hardly in good form either, although I would like to see him or Martial up top for a few games and Mikhi wasn't an option. Ultimately regardless of the layers we used/had available with the team we played we were unlucky not to win.I agree some of the decisions were questionable but there was also a lot of good play in that performance. We'll need to do something about Ibra soon though if he doesn't up his finishing though. Problem is Rashford isn't playing that well, Martial has been injured, Rooney's not exactly the guy you turn to for goals either.

What did you mean by Fergie "planting a seed in 2009?"

After the final in 2009, he sat down to look at how Barcelona's under age academy was set up and how he could replicate it.....

In the years after, we signed Jones, Smalling, Young, Kagawa, Valencia, Owen, Bebe, Obertan etc etc

I'd draw your own conclusions from that tbh

This team is rotten to the core! We just can't expect to win any game when we play Rojo, Darmian, Fellaini, Rooney, Depay, Blind, Lingard in the same fecking match!! I mean come on?? This is a sinking ship and we need a massive clear-out asap!

Neither of them bar Lingard maybe is to blame for this result....

Poor Rui Faria has got to do the post match press conference

I admire anyone who thinks we're going to make top 4 but it just ain't happening.
Starting to get that feeling of being 90% certain we're not even finishing 4th, just like I had last season.

I can't believe I said Clattenburg was a good referee.

How does that relate to us 7 years later, creating 37 chances, Heaton having the performance of his life, Herrera slipping and getting sent off and not scoring any goals?

I'm getting the same feeling I did under LVG where its clear we won't make top 4 but it just needs to be confirmed over time

We are not a very good side. I disagreed with @kouroux when mentioned this earlier this season but he was right

I don't even remember it :nervous: what did we exactly talk about ?

That he is very proud of the players and that basically we played some of our best football this season with 11 men on the on pitch. When asked about Mourinho's sending off he said that he doesn't know what happened and that whoever is interested should look at the referee's report.
Sounds ok, no drama. Hopefully, he can calm down our lads and Jose!:D

Because this isn't the first time we've put in a performance like this. This isn't anything out of the norm.

3 different managers, 3 identical approaches and outcomes. It's not a coincidence

Too many average players - I would only start De Gea, Bailly, Pogba, Herrera, and Martial (and Shaw and Mkitaryan if they prove good enough). We need to pretty much replace the rest of the deadwood; our standards have dropped so much that a few flicks by Zlatan and a few interceptions by Blind are deemed excellent performances.

We've been crying out for a top striker since RVP, and Zlatan is not that man. I can believe the money down the drain on the likes of Memphis, Schneiderlin, BFS, Darmian, Fellaini, not to mention that Lingard keeps starting and Young is still here.

Ridiculous how exactly? We are drifting further and further away from the chasing pack as each week passes. When you look at it: City, Arsenal, Liverpool , Spurs and arguably Chelsea are quite ahead of us so finishing 6th is not unrealistic at all. We cannot afford to keep dropping points but we keep doing it. If you think we are going to challenge for the league you are deluded .

Good God, I never thought about challenging for a league for a split second. It was an unrealistic expectation even when the season started, we are not a cohesive unit, and it will take time for the players to gel. But come on, 10 games into the season and you are already writing off our top4 chances? It will be tough, but the opposition will fall into a patch of such frustrating matches, where the minnows park the bus. liverpool lost against burnley in the same manner we drew today

Did the OT crowd boo the team? The pundits / commentator in Norway said they did, but I'm fairly certain that was towards Clattenburg..

I am disappointed like everyone else that we did not win and win comfortably but I really enjoyed the match. The interplay around the box is among the best I can remember ever seeing us play. The one-twos, flick-ons and through passes were a joy to watch and Zlatan was involved in most of them.
Yes results matter most but football in its essence is a game of skill and we displayed that today.

10 games have been played.

And we've won 4
The future looks bleak at best. Arsenal, City, Liverpool and Chelsea looks 10 times better than us, cant see any of them finishing outside top four.

I was hoping Ibra would get a yellow so he would have to sit out a match. If you play a 35 year old every match you must expect heavy legs. At least 3 of his misses were because his legs just are not reacting quick enough.

Yep. I'd keep Rooney as a squad player like he is now, out of respect for his services to the club in the past but a lot of players just have to go. Fans should not accept being a non top 4 club any longer and letting so many average, non world class players stay at the club.

So something which happened 7 years ago is to blame for this result?
After we had 3 managers who could have changed a team and make us play some good football.

Ridiculous.

If he was a young player he'd be slaughtered jose but for some reason he keeps his place. I'm dumbfounded.

The worst player in our side gets a free pass game after fecking game

Don't even know what to think there. It's all good saying these games happen, but 2 games in a row against teams we should be hammering and made the chances to get like 5 or 6 in each. Ibra overall played pretty well, but the finishing was fecking woeful and for that alone I would drop him. We need Martial's pace and composure against Swansea, play him up top and let Ibra know he isn't undroppable. Far too casual with his finishing this season.
Of course it was unlucky, but I wasn't that impressed either. If the attack plan is to get a lot of bodies forward, you're gonna get a lot of bodies between the ball and the goal too. Than you have to find a way through in the small spaces and allthough there were a few good idea's, it wasn't smart enough to get more than a few clear cut chances. Burnley wasted clear cut chances also, and was very wastefull with the acres of space they got in counter attack. So there was a positive in the link up play, but a lot about the number of not so clear cut chances was in getting bodies forward and that's risky and tends to produce a lot of blocked attempts that aren't very good chances.

But games likes these are not the problem, 8 out of 10 will end with 3 points. The real problem is in the matches against rivals for the title. That's not solved after a very poor league cup match against a team in crisis without it's playmakers that was won, and creating chances by getting forward like this will get punished by those opponents.

Yes, because we are drifting further and further away from the top each week. Games like today, Stoke, Watford you simply have to win when there is that many top teams in the Premier League these days. The odd exception will always happen but after 10 league games we have dropped points against all these type of sides which just isn't good enough.
