Jose: "There are those who want to be here at any cost and those who suffer with a little pain."

Do you agree with Jose criticizing players in public for not being willing/fit to play?

I don't know why people are mentioning Martial, he was in the squad today, I think the likes of Shaw, Mkhitaryan and Memphis are more likely to be who he's talking about.

What's funny is Jose wanted Shaw at Chelsea.

But he didn't want to pay the salary being asked. look it up, it's well documented. Seemed to think an 18 year old on 130K a week'ish was taking the piss.

Sounds like its Shaw who told Mourinho he didn't want to play today. Maybe the first tweet is about Shaw's brother going on Twitter and bitching about stuff?

pretty sure that wasn't Shaw's brother and was a hoax!

I have criticized Mourinho a lot this season but it's about time a manager stand up to some of these players. Shielding them has obviously not worked for Moyes & LVG, so, time to give it to them. I can now see why he played that team, it was a message to certain players & fair play to him. We have clearly talented players, most of them just don't have the right mentality, I've held that view for a while now.

To overcome an injury like that you have to be mentally strong

He's looked unfit, been off the pace and wasn't willing to play today despite the staff thinking he was ready. Sounds to me like he hasn't yet overcome it mentally.

This should be kept behind closed doors. Why be a wimp yourself and moan to the media about players being wimps. Deal with it internally. I'm fully behind Jose but he seems very quick to publicly hang his players out to dry which is something Fergie rarely did as I have said in a previous thread.

I dont see any issue with being pissed at the PSV player
Fine with being pissed at him. But don't make a big deal about it in social media or interviews and stuff like that. Just move on. It makes him look weak. Also, yeah of course it's not easy to come back from injuries like that, but it happens and you just have to work at it and stick with it. Maybe Mourinho feels he isn't fully up for it yet in his head, and still has to work on that bit to get everything right. Get his bravery back, and some confidence. That's one of the biggest things when recovering after a big injury, is getting back to the same level in your head where you go into everything with the same confidence as before and not worry about injuries.

Took him all of four months to pick up fights with the players. Predictable Jose.

It's exactly what we need. A number of our players aren't hungry enough or up for the fight. You can't have that in successful team.

It's taken 4 months to for him to start to see who is a winner and who is not, which is quicker than a lot managers to be fair. He gave them all a fair chance and now he's starting to find them out.

Maybe that is the case

Then surely it would be an idea to get him some help rather than having a go at him

Good stuff by Jose, I've had it with these nancies. The absolute collapse against WH last season when we could have gotten CL with a win, the travesty of a performance against Fenerbahce, and the fact that we often crumble under pressure when going under a goal is all very telling.

Not picking fights, he is 100% right.

Stop fecking whining to the press about Mourinho "being aloof" and go out and prove yourselves! If not then feck off.

This is not a holiday club and if you don't wanna commit to the cause then do one.

Don't think it's Martial, he was on the bench today and Mourinho namechecked him after Fenerbahce as one of the players that Mkhitaryan has to get ahead of to play.

If it's Shaw, I'd much rather keep him than Mourinho. I expect him to last more than 3 years in a best case scenario

I'm not a fan of these types of remarks. Dressing room affairs should remain private.

I'm starting to think there's some truth about that article of Mourinho wanting a summer clear out.

Whoever it is Mourinho should be keeping his comments and thoughts in house. Deal with it behind closed doors.

I don't like that either. Should be kept inside the club these things.

Though I don't mind players getting the hair-dryer treatment behind closed doors, I am not too sure about calling them out in public like this. Shaw is still a young player who had a serious leg-break last season. It won't be really surprising if he is a bit worried about some niggle if it affects the same leg. Wish Jose would sort it out behind closed doors.

Yeah I guess it depends on what you think will work best on him. That's two managers now that have decided to have a go at him in public. Maybe he does just need a kick up the backside and they feel he can handle it. Or he's shown a terrible attitude behind the scenes and they lost patience.

Normally i would agree, but with the media 'leaks' that appear to be coming out from one (or two) players i think Joses comments are valid.

I'm fully behind Jose, need a change of culture in the club and he can start by showing the door to some of the wimps we currently have in the squad.
I agree with this basic principle.

We hired Mourinho because we believed he'd do the business. So let him do it his way, get his players and do his thing. If it means we lose a couple of talented players then so be it. So long as we get the results after.

We definitely have a lot of weak players in our squad. I predict that many players will leave over the next two transfer windows. But I trust Jose because of his brilliant recent record. Let him build his own squad.

And it is why we are in this mess, keeping players who don't wanna give it their all.

Move the manager on and keep the dross.

Here's the interview, makes it clear he is also concerned about the leeches that surround the players. Noticeable that he namechecks the meat and potatoes Ingurlish lads.

It seems that he wants to teach them a lesson, more than getting rid of them. Change their mentality and way of thinking. Hope it's this anyway, because the players you mentioned are very good players.

Heard Mikhi had a meltdown after the City game. No idea how true that is...

But yeah, team Jose all the way here. I back him 100%
Where did you hear that? Because something must have happened after that game with Mkhi.

I don't know what to think. On the one hand the players probably do need a public take down - LVG took it all on himself and they still shat on him. Maybe they should have thought about listening and/or reading his instructions instead of ignoring his emails? Now they have a manager that if he's going down, he's taking every last one of them with him.
Players need out of their comfort zone for sure.

Shaw though does need a different approach, especially after his leg break. You need to be tough, but also a bit sensitive in dealing with him at times. Jose is under pressure and has no patience for that. It really is not an ideal situation at United for young, vulnerable lads. You really need to toughen up. Unless Shaw can find a way to push himself mentally, then sadly I don't think he'll last under Mourinho.
