Delighted that Jose is getting stuck into these players. It's pretty clear that some, maybe many, are just not up for a battle. The lack of commitment and fight on Thursday is evidence of such. What I would love to see is Mourinho getting rid of at least 2-3 players in January Transfer Window and make a real statement plus a shut up call from the Board/CEO to the players. In any case, this needs to be sorted out quickly (making it clear that the Manager is the man in charge). Well...yeah, it absolutely should. Teams are picked with the game involved in mind. That's pretty much a given. While Shaw's place isn't guaranteed, most would agree he's a good young player with a lot of potential, and it makes no sense to throw him into one of our easiest games of the season if he's nursing an injury. I'd argue it's a completely sensible thing for a player to do...especially someone who's off the back of a massive amount of time out.

Mourinho and Zlatan both said today Pogba wasn't 100% but I don't think a 100% Schneiderlin would have put in a performance like that. Like Mourinho said, in top level sport, it's very common for players to play despite not being 100% or feeling a bit of pain. We just aren't aware of it half the time because it's so common.

But, then there is cases like Diego Costa who tried to play through the pain during the CL final. Needed to be substituted after 8 minutes. Which forced them to burn a sub early. A sub that could have really helped them late in the match when the whole team was knackered. That is why Khedira did not try to force it during the World Cup final.

Who's they? And do we actually have concrete evidence that this is the case? It was well-known that several players were unhappy with Moyes...but many of them (Rio and Welbeck off the top of my head) are gone now. Rooney, Fellaini and Carrick are among our remaining players from that era. Rooney got a big new deal, Fellaini would've been delighted at Moyes bringing him here, and Carrick's regarded as one of our most likable and level-headed figures for the most part.

And LVG's reign, for all its shite averageness, didn't seem to have mutiny's. In fact, for all our dull play and 0-0 draws, the players often turned up on big occasions...he had a great record against Liverpool, a good record in big games in general, and won an FA Cup. Our problem under him had nothing to do with mentality; again, it was just shite tactical management.

I'm glad Mourinho has conviction and control but most of the stuff being touted about players mutinies or a lack of mental strength is either being exaggerated or is outright fantasy.

He was never "phenomenally shit". You've been watching some other player.

No idea whose "excuses" you seem to be treating as the players own. He was our best outfield player last season and Jose is failing with him where LVG succeeded, as bad as the latter was here. At least the old fart put proper faith into our biggest rising star. I'd start him on the left anyway over Rooney or Lingard or whichever other average player we seem to think is better.
