David Moyes | West Ham in talks with him for managerial job

I read the Sunderland board and McNair was played as a number 10 yesterday

He was a midfielder for the academy so it's no great surprise. It was more of a surprise to some that he got games for us at (all) right back and centre back.

I still think they're going down.
To his credit you can see the team starting to play in a Moyesy esque way though.

I think the phrase you're looking for is 'Moyesian'.

As in, "as Sunderland achieved the very minimum they could, still sat in relegation position, the Moyesian mind-trick of the media made me believe that he was somehow doing a passable job"...

What a manager. Single handedly won them those two games. Kind of shows you what David Moyes is capable of, and this sends a message to the whole world.

Well, I for one will be cheering him on in his next game

Anichibe is due a hat-trick, sequentially speaking

I'm going to start incorporating Moyesian into my daily vernacular, it has a great ring to it :D

Very childish post. You are onto your second manager after he left. Give it a rest.

I don't think the bad taste will ever disappear.

And that above is very likely exactly the sort of thing Moyes would say himself too, so I don't see how that is wrong.

Just because it might be something Moyes would say does not mean he would be wrong to say it.

Not sure if serious.

In a hypothetical situation where a manager says he single-handedly won his team a game and beating the worst team in the league at home sends a message to the world of what he could do (neither of which has happened), he would be right.

Erm, okay.

What relevance does the amount of people who have managed Man Utd since Moyes left have to do with taking the piss out of Moyes ridiculous quotes?

Ahh we are getting our wires crossed I think - I thought people were havig a go at me for suggesting Moyes would say what I said - i.e. that people should give it a rest going on about him as it's been ages ago he was manager. I wasnt even thinking about the stuff about him being the best manager of all time or whatever nonsense was said.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but Sunderland's upcoming game against us... is that David Moyes' 50th away game against a top 4/5?

I actually think he will keep them up this season. If Defoe keeps fit then I see no reason why not. He will, of course, claim it was a a managerial masterclass and go on to say he would win the league if he was managing a top 4 side.

It's his 57th away game combined at Old Trafford, Anfield, Emirates and Stamford Bridge in all competitions, and his 51st in the league as far as I can see. Still haven't won at either ground though.

@Lurpak99 , much appreciated that you compiled the list! I can't help but have a bad feel he might actually end up winning against us for his very first away game against a top 4/5.

Fair play to him. He wasn't what we needed here at all but he's a decent manager. I wouldn't dislike him if he stopped whinging about not being given a proper chance here. Sunderland have spent a lot in the last 10 years. Based on previous money spent they should be doing a little better than they have the last few seasons...

I expected this and anyone who knew Moyes could predict he's very valuable for a team like Sunderland. If he can keep this up he will make sunderland a top 10 team in no time (next season).

Turned them around a little. But let's not get too carried away just yet!

At least he will definitely be in charge when we face them at the end of December.

Everybody has been laughing at them.

That's a fair point.

The fact that he was dithering around on deadline day again was insane. There were rumpus they'd sign about ten players at one point. It's a joke how those loyal (dickhead) fans are treated.

Had two big players return from injury today right?

No, the only player that retuned was Djilibodji, who was suspended. The others all started against Liverpool last week.

I don't expect it to happen, but if he can keep this Sunderland side up then he's worked a miracle.
