Post-match discussion

Schweinsteiger man of the match. Rooney remarkably un-shit.

Rojo and Jones were great. They had a bit of a Rio/Vidic thing going on, with Rojo staying tight and Jones breaking the line to win the ball. As a pair, they've been very good the past few weeks.

Please please please Jose, keep Martial and Mhki in the side.

Thoroughly enjoyed that. Please take this into the league.

The difference in how well we are playing compared to under LVG is like night and day.

That's how we're supposed to be doing it.

Reminded me of the team from 06/07 tonight. The football was genuinely amazing and even better our defence didn't give them too much despite how attacking we were.

This team is capable of great things if we can consistently perform like that.

Give it to Faria til the end of the season.

Jose in the stands, watching the game from up on high.
Rui on the touchline.
And a phone-line between the 2.

I think this could work.

I'm happy we're through, but why the hell are we wasting players like Mkhi, Martial, and Carrick in cup competitions? We are clearly much better with them in the side. So frustrating.

First 2 have had their issues, third one I think Mourinho underestimated how influential he still is!

Those 3 have to start the main games. Rooney looked a lot better. Now it becomes tricky to fit Mata and Pogba in!

Although less hard to fit Smalling and Bailly in!

Loads of positives tonight.

Created a lot of chances, four beautiful goals, Martial with a brace which will give him confidence, Rooney ON FIRE, Miki looking amazing, Jones and Rojo solid as feck.

Overall a very good night...now, if we only could transfer this form to the league :nervous:

If Mikhi and Martial start then where does that leave Martial then, another conundrum.

16% on BFS as motm, lol!
Love it :)

Really well played today, Mkhi, Ibra, Herrera, Martial, Rooney all brilliant. Special mention for Tony V though, was just immense. A performance like that without Mata, Pogba in the team, awesome. Saying that, it means nothing unless we carry it on at Everton, and that won't be easy

Everyone was superb. Looks like we got the balance right with this XI plus the subs. We didn't play any better than at the weekend and got the result we should have at the weekend.

Starting to feel like there's a bit of a hex over us in the league...

Some of the attacking play has been sublime at times over the last few weeks, but even tonight we scorned some great chances.

If we can keep the chance creation going, but improve the conversion, as well as plug a few leaks at the back, then we should be in the top 4 mix for sure.

Feel it's a bit late for the title, unfortunately.

Referee was once again, dreadful.
Team played great (aside from DDG's error).
Great result.

After the frustration on Sunday, I knew that we were going to steam-roll past WHU.
We should've scored 3 or 4 goals on Sunday, but failed to do so.
So its nice to see that we got 4 goals today.

If Mikhi and Martial start then where does that leave Martial then, another conundrum.

I take it you mean Rashford or Mata? They should be coming of the bench late when we need a goal.

Great game, but the fecking state of the refs. Never seen a team as hard done by as us this season.

Rooney not available for Sunday makes it easier to pick side, because he was superb today. Hard to pick a MOTM tonight. Zlatan, Mkhi, Martial make football so easy on the eye. I like the Mkhi-Valencia on the right, they seem to be working well together. Herrera and Carrick have been very good also once again.

Mhki, Martial and Carrick to be rested for Everton then. Great cup performance against a poor side though.

Great game, bit patchy towards the end of the 1st half but come out of the blocks in the 2nd as we did in the 1st. For me Ross was MOTM, probably one of the fastest thinking and moving no.10s out there and if we can find a way of utilising that in the prem it could really make a difference to our season, can't defend or tackle for shit though. Martial was brilliant as well.

That was the most enjoyable this season by far. Very good on the ball, not so good off the ball, but very enjoyable to watch.

Pogba for banned Rooney against Everton will be nice.

I could point to the negatives - why was this team stronger than the one on Sunday? Why did Carrick play 90 min when we have a game again on Sunday? How comes we can play brilliantly when the pressure is off?

But I enjoyed that immensely and most of our players were on fire tonight.

If we had a truly clinical game, we could absolutely whop someone!

In fairness we have been scoring 4 goals regularly.
But I get your point. Someone this season is going to get about 8 goals put past them.

Very entertaining, we need to translate this clinical aspect to the PL. The front 4 were like melting chocolate tonight. I also thought the Carrick/Herrera partnership was excellent.
