I need to get back into Hunter x Hunter. I binged watched the first 40 or 50 (whichever episode it was where Gon and Killua open up the box left by Ging) of the 2011 series in a matter of days and, for some reason, I had to stop watching and I haven't, despite loving it, picked it up since. This was a couple of years ago now.

Recently, I've watched a fair bit of the 99 series and, though I only hear bad things about it, I enjoyed it! Not as much as the '11, though. I watched it in both the Japanese and English dub and they are polar opposites. I love the Japanese voice acting like in the '11 series but the 99 dub is so bad that it's hilarious. Gon sounds like a 30 year old woman, Kurapika sounds like an emotionless woman who's been teaching nursery children for ever and has just had all the energy sucked out of her, and Hisoka....I don't even have any words. Killua and Leorio are the only 2 who sound decent.

There was a lot of things about the 99 I enjoyed like it's animation, little things they added in which the '11 series took out, and the tone of the series compared to it's counterpart, but the best thing was this piece of music:

Seriously, it's one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard in any anime ever. I love it. There's many different versions of this (Kaze no Uta) but this one is my absolute favourite. I wish there was an extended version! The saxomophone (

) and violin combo with those bongos(?) in the background is perfection!

No Gantz: O, even if only for the wild animation?
I've never watched it. What did you make of it?

What does everyone think of Rurouni Kenshin? I liked the first season - loved the second - but finding it really hard to get in the 3rd season - does it get any better?

i love Kenshin, but if you're past Makoto and not enjoying it then it's not gonna get better. I don't know what you're up to but after the group defeat Shishio they stop following the manga. I recommend reading the manga though to get the real ending.

Thanks man, had no idea. Yeah the show just didn't feel the same after Shishio - and I'm just not enjoying it. I'll give a short a bit later and see how I feel - but I'll definitely read the manga if that is the case.

Im a little sad to see that a sequel will undermine
Leloucs sacrifice
... but on the other hand.... fecking yeah!
Aye, the climax of R2 was poetic. Guess they could spin it as him having a 2 eye Geass by that stage (Sword of Akasha?) - which essentially renders him immortal, though progressively unable to harness his own powers. Plus, the act of sacrificing himself would certainly fit in with his machiavellian nature, and...maybe he will respawn as a C.C. type being gone renegade.

I'm really enjoying the manga of The Promised Neverland. It's only the second manga I've read. I'm enjoying it so much, that I want to read 6 other ongoing manga's. I'd like some recommendations. But don't recommend One Piece, Hunter X Hunter, Fairy Tail, Attack on Titan, Magi, Bleach, My hero Academia, Seven Deadly Sins, Tokyo Ghoul as I'd like to read a manga of an anime that I've yet to watch/doesn't exist.
@Twigg @okLaptop1 @R.N7 @Invictus @vi1lain @Art

Ooh, also - Great Teacher Onizuka (if you haven't seen the anime) and definitely, Berserk - the Divine Comedy of manga.

Berserk is a must read

How highly do you rate GTO, Invictus ?

Also @Rasendori any of Naoki Urasawa's works is a must read IMO. Many resort to watching Monster because the anime has been released but 20th Century boys is his best work IMO. Highly recommend.

Don't mind me, I'll have my eyes glued to a screen for some hours, days, weeks, months. My brain will grow numb, and I'll return having learnt some Korean!

One of my all-time favorites. Quite conveniently, in the same tier as Gintama for its scattered plot, sub-surface drama, wit and tomfoolery.

I don't read much Manga, but I started reading I Am A Hero today which seems alright.

What's The Promised Neverland like @Rasendori?
The sense of ambiguity is compelling, refreshing depth to the characters outside the protagonist. The incentive to reach an equilibrium is predicated entirely on brains rather than violence. Dramatic irony involved with the closest of knit groups. For a Shounen, its quite dark. I suppose in some ways, the predicament the characters are faced with is similar to Attack on Titan.

Watched both seasons of Ookami to Koushinryou recently after spotting it on my 'to watch' list. Pretty sure I'd seen at least season 1 before so it didn't leave a significant impression then, and it was much the same this time around. Great setting and atmosphere, intriguing themes, and some engaging dialogue (particularly between the two protagonists and others). The melodrama was jading toward the end of both seasons but they were very easy to binge. Holo was great but Lawrence was an awful co-lead imo.

Watching Captain Kuro arc in One Piece. Jaysus, this is mind numbingly slow. The melodrama's killing me.
Is this how the show feels like overall?
Nope. You are really way too early in to get a good view of it IMO. Once it gets going it's fantastic. It was really hard for me to get through the first few arcs, then there was a good one, then another slow one, and then I reached a point where it just becomes incredible (which I'm sure many will agree with).

Maybe @Invictus could give you a better response, I think it was him who encouraged me to keep watching... or maybe it wasn't, I forget.

Syrup Arc is kind of a waste, to be fair, and One Piece is a notorious slow burner for shonen manga/anime (especially in comparison with something like Bleach - which throws up massive conflict by episode 15 with the introduction of Byakuya and Renji). Just about kicks into gear with Baratie, Arlong Park and Loguetown arc (approx. episodes 20-50) - with Sanji, Nami, Zeff, Mihawk (!), the first major foe in Don Krieg, Arlong, Smoker. And once you reach Drum Island and Alabasta (episodes 80+), there's no going back.

Ooh, that reminds me, Baratie has two of the most epic scenes in One Piece:

Really underrated arc.

Erm, that was the list of movies I'm not gonna watch - mostly because they're taking way too many 'creative' liberties with the source material, in typical Hollywood fashion. Reg. the Akira live action film, it's still in the developmental phase, so you didn't really miss much: http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Akira-Live-Action-Remake-Just-Took-Huge-Step-Forward-71915.html
Ahh my bad! Akira is one of my favourite films ever and I got excited about the live action that I didn't read your post properly!

Just saw Kimi no Na wa (Your name).
GO AWAY ONION CUTTERS, GET TEH feck AWAY FROM ME!
10/10, will watch again.
