Premier League Matchweek 25 (Feb 11-13)

Was his first game back. Before he went to the AFCON, Liverpool were on top form.

Wrong. His first game back he came on as a substitute against Chelsea... The Hull game was 5 days after he had returned. Absolutely no excuse for his and their performance against Hull.

Spurs tactics of put out a not very good defence & then tell them to fanny around with it, in & around their own box, isn't working for me

Haven't checked the table but how many points are we behind Spurs after results today?

You could throw the same criticism at Guardiola at Bayern vs. Madrid and Barcelona. The way to beat them is to play like Mourinho's Inter but he played the way he always does. That's a style of management - seems strange to use it as proof of him being found out.

It just shows a degree of tactical naivety and stubbornness in not adjusting your style of play to the opponent, I feel.

You can understand it with the likes of Guardiola as he had world class players that could, on their day beat any level of opposition player-for-player pretty much in any formation.

With these tactics, Spurs were defeated before they even kicked a ball. Even with the players at our disposal, Mourinho wasn't as cavalier as Spurs have been today which is the difference between the two managers.

Anyway, hope Spurs manage to buck their ideas up and score a couple in the second half, though it looks highly unlikely. :(

This just proves Liverpool have only one way of playing. Press the hell out of the opposition. Which is fine but obviously they can only do it with a week's rest in between games and against teams who try to play as opposed to who give them ball and ask them to break down. They also can't keep it up for 90 mins.

Don't mind if Tottenham lose, we'll be just 2 points of second place (4 if City win), which should really be our goal, no matter how much longer we're still 6th. We've been compressing the table for so long, it will be fun if we rapidly jump all four teams.

Still think Liverpool wil capitualte in a hilarious fashion in the second half. Poch will mix it up.

Spurs have been unbelievably shit in 1st half, I thought I had seen them at their worst in 1st half versus City but guess not.

Pochettino needs to make some subs, Davies is being killed down the left. Also, their best player (Eriksen) is seeing little of the ball. If they are to get anything here, need to get him involved.

If we stop with the strings of draws we can definitely get 2nd.

Arsenal and Liverpool are proofs that it is better to be able to beat average teams and bottle the big games (Arsenal) vs be inconsistent against average opposition and then raising your game for the big games. The former gets you top four, the latter just gets you praise from Robbie Savage.

As it stands, if we'd beaten Hull at home 2 games ago, we'd be 3rd in the league.

How awful have Dembele and Wanyama have been today... Spurs have literally no midfield.

A bit naive of Spurs to play this way at Juanfield.

Agreed.
