Champions League Round of 16 (14th Feb - 15th Mar)

Just seen that Mascherano handball. That's a stonewall penalty. Knew it would be that kind of game when Matuidi was booked almost immediately for absolutely nothing.

It's not a penalty, you have to be kidding. PSG had a similar one in their own box before that and it wasn't called either. Both hand balls were from close range and with normal body positioning. Mascherano was doing a sliding tackle, you can't slide with your hands glued to your body.

Barca haven't really done anything this half. PSG actually defended well but for 2 mistakes which has cost them so far.

Messi, Neymar have failed to find penetration through the PSG defence.

Barca have surprisingly too many average players coupled with ageing ones and the side doesn't look that impressive.

Oh please, all he did was gesturing that he barely touched his opposing player. If that is "endless complaining" you would get a nervous breakdown in every La Liga match.

Then he went on and on with the diving gesture.

BVB need to get their shit together. The last 20 minutes were really bad.

That's what I'm saying. PSG are at their best when they're taking the game to someone. Playing in this manner not only stifles their team but gives Barcelona complete control of this game and the tie.
I agree. They're more than good enough to give Barca a game as shown in the first leg and they'd at worst lose 2 or 3-1, but this style doesn't suit them and I can see them going out if they don't buck themselves up.

That's easily a penalty. Stopping a cross with your hand, sliding or otherwise, is always given and rightly so.

I hate Benfica but Dembele should be off (thank goodness he didn´t)

Don´t get me wrong, he is lucky to still be on the pitch as the tackle while being on a yellow was unecessarily hard.

If PSG attacks they will score and go through. But it is not easy to switch the tactics in the middle of the game at 180 degrees. They came to defend, which was a schocking mistake for them. Played into Barca's hands, because they have the firepower to score 4 past anyone.

Almost every player asks for cards when he gets fouled a couple time or when they get hacked in the last third of the field, the difference most of the time is how they complain, Busquets did the same today and he also saw a yellow card like Cavani
Cavanis one was barely a foul. It would be different if Pique had completely mangled him or something but that was uncalled for and I'm glad he was booked.

It's not. The element of intent does not exist. And Mascherano's hand was positioned in a normal position for any player that does a sliding tackle. And as I said, Barca had a hand ball call too.

You're right that's it's from close range and he has to put his hands somewhere, but sliding in with your arm that far behind you does give you a significantly longer reach to block a ball. You could argue it gives him an illegitimate advantage and in this case it prevented a pass across the box. It's by far the strongest of the appeals in this first half.

A goal before 60 mins and Barca will win it in 90 mins, if they go later they get even more desperate.

Pogba only has 41 club goals. Both players are average at best because traditional central midfielders are defined by their goals and assists.

Pogba is 23. Iniesta is in his 15th season for Barca.

You don't expect everyone to pump out Lampard numbers but 55 goals in 15 seasons is very low considering the quality of the team and how good Iniesta is.

What you're saying would be true if he wasn't doing a sliding tackle. His intention was not to block the ball with the hand. And it's not like he stopped an imminent goal scoring chance. Not a penalty for me.

Going into the second half with a large margin is always a banana skin.

Maybe this was Emery's plan all along, throw the first half and play a intense second half

Penalty given. Has one of the officials by the goal actually done something?!

He gained an unfair advantage using his hand/arm. Penalty.
