How do people on here summarise his time at Everton now?
It was always widely accepted at the time that he was doing a good job there. I definitely don't think he did a bad job but always felt he was quite lucky to be there. A team capable of being very good who at the time had low expectations. Out of everything he's done as a manager, I definitely think signing Cahill was and always will be the best thing he does.
I'm not surprised he's struggling now.

Everton were shambles before Moyes went there. He did superb job in making them top 10 team and then failed to take them to next level. Tbf to him Everton didn't spend big when Moyes was their manager.
His signings of Cahill, Fellaini, Jagielka, Coleman, Baines, Distin, Pienaar, Mirallas were all excellent.

I think he was very good at Everton. What's happening now is a consequence of having his dream crumble in front of the world. I have a lot of sympathy for him, except when he goes on about being British.

Complete useless buffon. Unbelievable to think he got United job. And think how many millions he made out of that. If it was 6 year contract he prob got at least 50% of it when sacked. Ridiculous.
It would be wrong to not give him credit for his work at Everton, he did well to get them up the table and make them a solid mid-table outfit. But i do now think it was a bit of a perfect storm of being in the right club at the right time. He never really pushed on with them, sure progress in the league was a big ask, but not one cup win in 26 attempts is a real negative. One that should have seen him not even considered for the United job.
The real test of a managers abilities is if they can replicate past successes at new clubs, Ferguson did it, Mourinho can do it, even the likes of Pulis and Allardyce have did similar jobs at different clubs. So far Moyes hasn't and doesn't look remotely capable of making another club a solid mid-table one. So until he does we will never really know what his true level is.
My home town team is Burton Albion, I hope he stays after relegation just so that I can watch him get beat at the Pirelli if Burton manage to stay up.

He did well at Everton but I think it's often overstated how bad Everton are and how amazing it is if they finish in the top half. The idea if they were not fighting relegation then Moyes was performing miracles always annoyed me.
He did a good job but stayed too long, probably not wanting to step out or his comfort zone and missed his chance to step-up (well, he should have missed his chance but you know...).

its a very strange comment even in jest
I don't think he was literally threatening to slap her, it sounds to me like he was stung having to answer questions about his job security and wanted to lay down the law to the reporter. It may have been because she is a woman that was specifically targeted, which if true is poor, but I'm sure he's spoken in similar terms to male reporters he's had a problem with as have most other managers.

Hopefully this will be the end of him in football... he can now slither off underwhatever rock he came out from and tell anyone who'll listen to him how he 'should have had more time' at Utd.

Normally I'd tear him apart (verbally) if I felt he was being malicious; but I honestly feel he was joking - and so did the reporter -ill-advised as his comments were.
Right club, right owner and perfect timing is what happened at everton for him. He was lucky to have an owner who matched Moyes' lack of ambition.

Moyes is using irony in his exchange with Ms Sparks - the whole point, the very humour of his words being that it's unthinkable to him to strike a woman. It's harmless but ill-advised...so now irony will doubtless bite him on the bum and he'll be in trouble.

He was joking. It isn't a threat. A very stupid thing to say yes, but not a threat. As someone said a few comments back, he's just socially retarded.

The United job he got was arguably the hardest job in world football at the time, he did a lot wrong but it doesn't solidify him as a bad manager. Then with Sociedad, it is obviously very different to managing a team in England so I can see why Sunderland went for it, but he should've been sacked long ago.
