Is Mou still 'The Special One' for you all?

Of all the concerns we had before the season started - that'd he'd been found out tactically, that he has become too cantankerous and disruptive, that he can't work with young players and that he cant provide coherent attacking football - none has been assuaged so far.

As people have said, he gets a free pass this season but if we miss out on cl and/or sell martial and shaw this summer, the fans will be on a knife-edge from the start of next year.

That game is exactly why I believe Mourinho is responsible for our underwhelming performances. Because our players are able to up their game when Mourinho takes the right decisions and put them in a favorable position. And no it's not a dig at Mourinho.

Man marking Hazard is a great decision - to be fair to Mourinho it takes time to fully play to the strengths of the players available - but also the opposite way, players need to fulfill their tasks. They didnt in the first City game for instance.

And few has been able to open up Chelsea compact italian style. I wouldnt conclude Mou's not up for the task tactically.

Agreed, I wouldn't conclude anything from this season other than he was out of form which can happen.

-Outdated manager
- Jose is done
- Other managers are better than him
- Defensive coach
- Can't attack

:lol::lol::lol:

I will go back and name and shame every one of you. Charlatans.

Of course he is the special one, and thats why he is our manager.

We need more threads like this and less of we will get top 4 thread

Now this game was the Jose of old. This was the special one. Up against the odds, no one giving the team a chance. Then he comes with a team no one would have guessed, and we put in our best performance of the season against the best team in the league.

This is what I was talking about, these are the kind of performances that will get the aura of invincibility back for our Special One.

Today he's the special one, next time we drop points he's shit again. Just like how any forum works.

I know this had been posted already but now the official twitter account having it too. Absolute boss and should never be doubted.

Writing Mourinho off because of our league position is stupid. Even though our position in the table doesn't say so, we have greatly improved over last season. We're creating more chances, playing better as a team and also defending much better. Our only problem is not finishing off chances we create and the manager can't be blamed for that.

Anyone who says we haven't greatly improved under Mourinho is just mental.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing, especially when it works in your favour.

Only problem is that it swings both ways. If we lose next week, which is not beyond the realms of possibility, then it will swing back your way.

Only by idiots. Plenty of us wanted him since SAF left and have never doubted his ability at any stage this season.

Nope. Its called having conviction in your beliefs and backing your manager.

Don't get me wrong, I actually share those same beliefs, I'm just stating facts.

I'll always support Jose so long as he remains in charge of the club, as I will any manager currently in charge of the club.

Sure. Great that we agree. :)

Maybe because Im older now but I find this instant gratification era frustrating: some people flip and flop depending where the wind blows and after the tiniest of tremors - see it a lot on here. It demonstrates a lack of understanding on how the world works and creates unnecessary angst for society as well as the individual.

One should take time and do proper due diligence before getting to a point of view. Once you take a view, stick with it and provide encouragement and belief. Invariably, it will work out as you planned.

We should have done whatever it took to get Mourinho signed straight after SAF, just like the club did when recruiting SAF from Aberdeen. By now, he would have turned us into a top team winning PL and CL titles.

Its split milk now, and at least the board finally got the decision right. But he is also just human and not a miracle worker. It takes a little time to transform a misfiring tanker into a lethal submarine. But I'm absolutely convinced Mourinho will do it. He just needs suitable investment, mental support (which he gets from our match going fans) and time.

Within his industry, Mourinho is a truly exceptional talent and very very special at what he does. There are no short cuts to greatness: he is smarter, has more experience, is more motivated and works harder than any other manager. Reminds me of SAF in so many ways.

I hope today is the day that everyone connected with the club can support him without any hesitation.

Totally agree.

He is the special one who is without 'his' special squad yet. This is why his second season is always where he comes into his own historically. He had a poor season with Chelsea last year and came into this season with a United team coming off three seasons playing some dull and demoralising football. But he was a champion the year before and they bossed that season.

He is demanding work from the players that they have been unaccustomed to and we have seen some players rise to the challenge whilst others have been unable to come to terms with as of yet. We are still a club who aren't quite there, and he is still coming to grips with what capabilities the squad possess. But it's evident that with the team selections in the last month or so that he trusts certain players more than others.

If we are going to find out whether Mourinho is still 'The Special One' then it will be next season for me.

He did ok overall this season but despite today's huge performance, he made many many mistakes this season - otherwise, we wouldn't be struggling for 4th place

All it took was to offer him the job instead of Moyes :annoyed:

For me, the official story from SAF, Mourinho and Gill make no sense. I doubt we will ever know the real story on what actually happened and why.

Really good post that.

And yeah I agree with every word, especially on the Mourinho appointment or lack thereof. I don't think there was a football man, women or child alive who didn't raise an eyebrow when David Moyes was appointed ahead of Jose. It was possibly the worst decision in the history of our club and one that we still pay for to this day. But better late than never as they say.

Jose will bring us success, it is simply a matter of time and patience. Of course it's the patience thing that a great many United fans seem unable to grasp. Instant gratification as you say.

Gotta give it to Mourinho, he outwitted Conte today, big time.

He did not see Mourinho changing the formation and keeping Zlatan on the bench for such an important game.

Props to Mourinho.

I will doubt anyone who doesn't achieve the things this club need.

United is bigger than Mourinho or any manager no matter how much of a boss you think he is.

We are still not guaranteed a spot in the CL next season. And getting in the CL is only the very first mini step of what should be our end goal and he thusfar he hasn't even taken that very first mini step.

We need to start scoring goals, killing off matches, winning match after match instead of drawing. I want teams like Chelsea to be scared of us instead of the other way around. If anyone looks at the league table I want them to see United on the first position. If at the start of the season the question is asked who will win the PL this year I want people to say United and if they dare utter a different name I want people to fecking laugh at them for being gullible and naive. I don't want to have to worry about a CL ticket anymore, I want us to be worried about upcoming CL matches against the likes of Real, Barca, Bayern etc and how we are going to beat them to win the fecking CL instead of worrying how we are going to beat Anderlecht in the EL so we can get in the CL.

There is a very long road for us to get back to club we are supposed to be. If Mourinho doesn't manage to reach the required milestones on that road he will rightfully criticised and doubted. He is not the only manager in the world for us and not the only future we could have as a club, never forget that.

With another transfer window to bring in his own quality players he can get us challenging on all fronts. He's not done bad for his first season, if our strikers could finish we'd be challenging for 1st place and above spurs. We've dropped so many points because of this. He's won a trophy already 2 if you include charity shield and we look well on course for the Europa league final too.

I've never doubted him, he is still within the top 3 managers in football if not still the best.
