You're using 9 matches to judge a 16 year career? It's like using Jose's last three months at Chelsea to gauge whether he's any good, isn't it?
Yes.

Not dining out, just making a point about which team has hit greater heights this season. That particular period was extremely strong. That is all. That's a two and a bit month spell from 6 months ago.
I can't believe Liverpool fans are still dining out on this.

So when arguing about Klopp's inability to build a squad one can't reference his previous record, as the parameters (set, apparently, by KM) of this specific thread are exclusively about his time at Liverpool. Makes sense. This thread is about Liverpool, what he did with Mains and Dortmund doesn't hold any significance here. I'm talking in context of Liverpool's squad. That should've been obvious to anyone.
Absolutely. Which I referenced in in my earlier post.Another thing that plays into the narrative about United's poor season, is expectations.
Most pundits expected United, with the acquisitions and José, to challenge for the league.
Very few expected Liverpool to come close to that, so obviously United have been more disappointing.
Great.
So, can you explain why there's a prevailing sense that United's season has been disappointing? Or are you just here to attack?
But it doesn't make sense. We're Carling cup winners, odds on to reach the EL semi on Thursday and have games in hand to draw level on points with your lot in the league. Not dining out, just making a point about which team has hit greater heights this season. Beating Swansea and Watford by a wide margin last September shouldn't even register at this point.
OkBut the season isn't over yet. United still have plenty to play for and a chance to make the season very memorable. It's possible to be excited about what may happen rather than disappointed about what did not. It's obviously a major positive to be going into the business end of the season with another shot at silverware. The empty feeling of pushing solely for a mouldy non-achievement 4th place would certainly grind people down much more.

Ha ha...I think that's a little bit of disillusion there mate.
But you're right, it's "perception". It's pundits' obsession with United not doing anything but winning a title.
PS: I don't think Liverpool play 'scintilating' stuff at all. I think high press is a very boring approach to football. Waiting on the opposition to make a mistake is quite yawn inducing to me...but then again, it's all subjective. I think United approach games quite positively, but will admit a lot of their games have been tough watching, but that's mainly down to the opposition. Also, I don't know how you can say "United haven't hit the heights as many times as Liverpool this season" given the fact that United have won a lot more matches than Liverpool this season.
And as somebody else has said, United have already achieved just as much this season as Liverpool have in the last 10-years.
Ultimately it's another trophyless season for Liverpool to add to the saga of mediocrity that the club has become.
With one trophy in the bag, another to play for, and still a chance at crashing the top 4 party, United are well placed to surpass the achievements of LFC over the last 10 years, but in one season. In fact they've already matched it. Perception.
In my fifteen years on this forum I have never seen the Mickey Mouse Trophy so loftily celebrated than this season. Firstly, good that Utd fans finally acknowledge it as a proper trophy. Secondly, tells you where Utd sit at the table nowadays.![]()

If you want to talk about perception then you have to go back to the start of the season & ask yourself would you have been happy if you could have seen the future & looked at the PL table as it currently stands. 66 points with 5 games still left to play would have made most Liverpool fans happy I imagine. & the pundits obsession with United's lack of a title challenge is no different to that of the average United fan. Be honest, you're up there with Chelsea & City in the spending stakes. You have an infrastructure that's built for success. Therefore it stands to reason that you shouldn't be in a position whereby you're struggling to make the top 4 on a consistent basis. So when you start 'bragging' about having more trophies than Liverpool over recent years, you're on the slippery slope to RAWK land.
Less fixtures, no trophies won, or has the beating West Brom trophy been delivered already? I'd rather a massive fixture list and be fighting for trophies than having an easy ride and winning sweet feck all like Deludedpool. In my fifteen years on this forum I have never seen the Mickey Mouse Trophy so loftily celebrated than this season. I think he saw Loserpool above United and decided the points difference was 20 rather than 6 with 2 games in hand.Have you lot actually looked at the table?
You do know there is very little difference between United, City and Liverpool don't you?

Because as we all know, RAWK have been able to brag about Liverpool winning more trophies than United "in recent years" for the last two decades or so, such was the lack of success at Old Trafford.
I think the point has been well and truly missed there. Despite us being on an apparent downward slope, we've now won two trophies in two seasons. Funnily enough, they happen to be the same two trophies that you last won, except you have to go back five seasons for one of them, and eleven for the other. Additionally, the only two times you've looked like getting Champions League football in the last eight seasons has been when you've had no European football and been dumped out of everything else by February.
I think it's important, especially for our young players, that they become accustomed to success and winning trophies. Those players have a shot at winning 3 trophies in the space of a year, including last season's FA Cup. How you can twist this to anything but a positive for United mystifies me.
But I suppose Liverpool did beat Watford 6-1 back in November.
You do understand the word 'perception' don't you ? You do understand the concept that most, if not all, United fans would have expected their side to be quite a way clear of Liverpool at this stage of the season.
None of us are shouting our mouths off about the fact, more saying that we'd have been very happy to be in our current position at the start of the season. Are you happy to be in your current position ?
Totally agree with you. Winning one trophy is great. Winning 3 is just wow. People who ridicule such an achievement should hang their heads in shame.

My other name for them is Liverscum.feck Liverpool etc but Deludedpool and Loserpool? Really?
Clubs set out the season with different objectives. While one team may try to avoid relegation, another may want to win the league. But if both of those objectives are met by the respective clubs then it's a success for both.
For this reason I personally believe we could have a better season, because of our original aims. We set out for a CL spot and are still competing for that.
You set out to win/compete for the league. You did. United fans couldn't hold in their excitement when the signings of Pogba and Zlatan were announced in their triple figure million Black Friday esque shopping spree. And you got Mourinho too, the quick fix, instant success, always wins the league in the second season manager.
On top of that you had a good start to the season so there was double optimism. Halfway through however things started to falter, and you had to re-evaluate your aims, convincing yourselves that after the debacle of LvG a CL spot always should have been the objective and it was silly to think you could win the league straight away.
Yes you've won a League Cup and may even add a Europa league to that too. But at the end of the day had I told you (if this happens by the way) you'll end up 6th with a League cup and Europa League you'd of been a bit surprised considering the money spent and manager brought in. Although maybe you could of been convinced to accept it because of the Europa league. I don't know you tell me
However, if you told me we'd be knocked out of all the cups but end up 4th. I'd be happy. (Cups would have been a bonus but hey, 4th was always the aim).
"You're more ambitious than us so you've had a poor season, even though you're winning stuff"
"We set out to win the league, but got this poundland cup thing instead. It's all good though. A cup is a cup"
"We set out to win the league, but got this poundland cup thing instead. It's all good though. A cup is a cup"
"We bottled every competition to make a run for the title, but we threw that away as well."
"I feel happy shitting on the only trophy we've won in 10 years because we beat 10 man Hull by 4 goals back in September"
Arsenal? No wait... City? Ah I give up
It was sensible until this. Now it seems like I've ruffled your feathers.![]()
Yes your cutting wit and incredible level of self-awareness has really ruffled the nest here.
I see a bright future for you on RedCafe @LFC-Fans
