Exactly. Not many pens are given anyway these days without the "victim" milking it, but a foul is still a foul.
 
It was a dive by Moses but if Son is going to recklessly dive in, then attackers are going to take advantage.

Whether the foul is a foul has nothing to do with how the player goes down. The foul is there, so of course it's a pen.
 
If Chelsea pass to the final they will win it. Both Pep and Wenger will fall easily for his tactics.
 
They're replaying the penalty and I cannot believe I've seen people suggest it's not a pen :lol: Everyone in the studio says its a blatant penalty at least.
 
Moses was already going down before Son even touched him. Stupid sliding in there, but it was still a dive.

EDIT: I will say though, 9/10 referees would still give a pen in the situation and I probably would have as well. Diving in there is asking for a pen to be given.

I thought Batshuayi had been decent. Good hold up play, decent touches, and picking out passes in the wings.

Doesn't work like that though, does it? We've had a couple this season where the attacker has stayed on his feet and the pen hasn't been given despite being clear. With how refs are now, you have to go down to be sure.

I think it is. You could even say that the player has to jump to avoid contact. If he didn't jump, the tackle would go through his ankles. Is that what the player should do to get the pen, take the tackle on his ankles? Of course he doesn't.

 
I came into this game totally neutral and hoping to see some decent footy!

Great game … but, for some reason I'd really like Spurs to win this now.

Chelsea do seem to have amassed a collection of really talented but extremely unlikeable human beings.

I dont mind going down instead of stumbling to stay up, but the way he went about it was comical, like he purposely avoided the contact

 
It was a dive from Moses but any attacker will go for it if a stupid tackle like that happens so the fault is on Son in my eyes.

And that means no contact happen so give pen for what ?
 
I can't take anyone seriously who thinks it wasn't a penalty. It's as stonewall, blatant as you'll ever see. He HAS to jump over the tackle or his ankles probably get broke. If a player has to take evasive action then you've impeded them.

Amazed at the uproar of the Alli "stamp" too. Nothing in it whatsoever.

Yeah but sliding in like that many times does warrant a foul. You'd want to avoid getting clattered but still deserve a free kick. This case is a bit different as Moses sneakily fell over at the time Son approached him.

I don't see Pep very flexible tactically to be able to cope with Conte. He'll open spaces and let Chelsea kill it on counters unless he learned from the lesson Jose gave to us. :D
 
Well.....if you slide in like that......so early....you are giving the percentage to the ref to give it. If it was Rashford going down...I'd say penalty......if it was Bailly making the slide...I'd say...no contact and dive......football eh?
