If we can't protect a goal lead, at home... etc.

I think we're probably going to win this silly tournament.

Anyone can get a flukey goal. Anybody. Lets hope that if they do get a goal, we will be four to the grid.

A 2-1 is better than a 1-0 because the chances of them getting two goals is lower.

Anderlect got a goal in the last tie.

Relieved. Please let's just see it out next Thursday.

Happy to see Pogba back as well.

Rash

Blind excellent as well.

Utd please go and work on your finishing.
Fixed for you.

Only the older viewers will probably know where I'm coming from when I say that I fear, whatever happens next week, Ajax will clean up in the final

If LVG was managing them, then I'd be concerned.
Lucky for us, LVG no longer manages them. ;)

We don't half miss some chances. So frustrating.

Injuries are ridiculous as well, something is not right & hasn't been for years.. I hope we are looking into every avenue as to why this keeps happening.

Very good result and a good away performance. Both teams created a number of chances, though I felt ours were the better ones and its a shame we couldn't go into the break with the lead, but pleased we got our goal in the end.

I can see why Celta Vigo are rated highly, they created a number of chances tonight and are perfectly capable of scoring 1 or 2 at Old Trafford. Still, we must fancy our chances of progressing now. Hopefully a strong and clinical performance next week to kill the tie off.

Celta are shite, you all had me worried.

1-0 away and we didnt stop trying to get forward and some feckwits on here think Mourinho was cowardly. I thought we always tried to get forward and took the game to them. Poor finishing at times. Also have to wonder about the mentality of those who thought it was a boring game.
We were sitting deep being in their half and attacking. That's a new one. couldn't believe some posted we're sitting deep.

Can anyone look up the yellow card accumulation for the second leg and the Final?

Today, Pogba and Felliani got yellows. Obviously Pogba would be the greater loss, but we want to have optimal options going into any round.

Why the feck were we wasting time with only 1-0 up? It's not Barcelona we're playing!!

Too wasteful (shock horror?!). Tie far from over, cause, well.. we're not gonna score at Old Trafford.
For the love of Christ :wenger:

send Lingard to Everton like Gibson and Cleverley before him. he's no better than those two.

Agree Our cast offs in King Evans Fletcher Keane and Brady individually have had better season than him.

We should definitely steal the idea of playing the A Team music at the end of he half time interval.

That or go through other classic tv show theme tunes.

Scored at Old Trafford in 8 out of our last 9 games, but yeh, good point. :wenger:

Yeah but we wouldn't be confidently talking up our chances is this had been our home leg and we'd lost 1-0, would we? We strengthened our position.

I'm just glad the mighty Celta Vigo took mercy on us and allowed us to take a one goal advatage away from Spain

I'm slightly disappointed we didn't score a second goal to kill of this tie but irregardless, this is actually a very good result away from home, our record in Spain is very poor, think we only won like 2 times in 22 times so I'd take this result before the start of this match considering a score draw is the best I hope for. Never expect Celta to be that gash, thought they would raise their game. Now as long as we don't lose at home, we are through to the final!

Quality performances all over the pitch, just our finishing let us down as it has all season. Still we got the away goal and didn't concede ourselves, we've got to be happy with that

Pogba was a beast tonight, really showed his class and physical presence.

Well, an away goal only matters if the opposition score. In this case Celta didn't, so our away goal gives us no advantage.

We're still 1-0 up in the tie though.

Very happy with the positive result, very disappointed with us only winning 1-0 against a team as bad as Celta Vigo today. If Mourinho made the right second half subs today (Mata for either Lingard or Mkhi), I think we win by a couple goals today. Instead, we relied on a special free kick goal by Rashford to get by. Hopefully we take care of business at OT but if Celta Vigo score the first goal in the home leg, I'm afraid our players might choke.

It was a good win and we didn't play badly in the first half, but I'll never be a fan of the negative tactics of bringing Young on and basically creasing to attack, inviting needless pressure onto the defense when this Celta side were there for the taking. Our finishing once again hurt us as well, the chances Lingard and Mkhi had have to be converted.

can you not look it up?

Jose right in his presser. We should be putting these teams to the sword!

If you compare Lingard to Mkhitaryan today, then you don't know much about football. Lingards finishing wasn't good enough, but he could have scored 3 goals today. He is probably the smartest footballer in our side - noone even comes close to find these positions as well as he does.

But at the end of the day if you are always missing when you get in the positions you find then you may as well not find those positions in the first place.

Looks like Mourinho is off for some sight seeing after the game

Pogba really showed his class again. We need top players to link up with him.

Bloody hell, pretty much every neutral on here and /r/soccer overrated Celta to the moon. Apparently they beat Barca and Madrid this season and that made them favourites...the gulf in class was palpable today and I'm frustrated we're only taking a 1-0 back to OT.

1-0 away means they have to win at OT to go through and they are twice as bad away as they are at home.

Looks like united vs ajax in the final, that's not bad at all for a CL place

I think Jose loves Rashers more than I do!

Very professional display, should've been more with our finishing in the first half but we played well. Celta were poor, expected better from them but we've gotta finish the job at OT now.

Easy peasy. Pogba, Rashford and Blind very good. Is Romero the best backup keeper in the world?
