People do care about things like that though.
yeah i just find it werid, i mean two days ago the bbc put an article up that half the jobs in scotland may be lost to automation over the next ten years, no one bats an eye lid, today my facebook feed has been full of anti fox hunting posts.... i just find it strange what people care about strange

This is fair, the implications of automation is just something people generally haven't begun to wrap their heads around yet.

i think most people are still in denial about the extent of the problem, for me this whole election should be a debate about we move forward as a country in which it is going to take less workers every year to run it?
right now i don't think their is an answer to that question, and like so many things that are difficult and without an answer people just ignore and worry about things like fox hunting while eating their battery raised chicken dinners......

Who was the interviewer here? His level was pretty much facebook comments debate.

It was Adam Boulton.

Never heard of her before watching that, but she did come across very well on that interview.

Very good interview, disarmed the stupid questions immediately and kept on message.

The only thing i know about her is she resigned, came back and that she has a caution for domestic abuse of her ex husband. Strong but maybe not stable

As a Conservative - I am absolutely gutted about the prospect of a return to fox hunting. I'm more socially liberal than a lot of Tories, still I can see a few others being put off voting for them on this issue alone.

I swing between Tory and Lib Dem, but bollocks to voting yellow right now either. I'm actually thinking about going for an independent this time around.
What return? It never left in practicality

Automation is just a fact of life, it's going to happen, just as the industrial revolution changed the World. It's progress, impossible to stop by any political party and will be the big conundrum of our times.

But fox hunting is a barbaric "sport" for the rich, much easier to tackle & May's stance is as expected, digusting.

your kind of highlighting my point ones a massive issues that will effect all probably everyone in the country within a decade (at most 2), that no one has answer to, that desperately needs highlighting and debating. The other is just a disgusting backwards activity obviously carried out by a few obviously backwards individuals.

Yet which one do people care about the most? which one is getting the most coverage? ........

The one that is an immediate problem and is a quick fix. Its no surprise these issues receive more coverage.

Had Sky News on in the background this morning whilst "working" from home.

Twice they've spoke over women or ignored they were on. Long-Bailey and Rayner weren't labeled and their speeches were only on whilst waiting for Corbyn.

its not surprsing but its wrong!

If we all spent all day talking about the big fundamental threats to humanity we'd never progress on the smaller stuff.

Your automation example is peanuts compared to climate change or disease control/antibiotic resistance

Might have been last chance of a proper swing, ach well.

agreed but when you talking about what should be one of the biggest issues at this election how the population of a society supports itself when it takes less people every year to run a society, an issue that is going to effect pretty much everyone in the country over the next decade or so getting less coverage and provoking less intrest then a few neanderthals wanting to engage in a backwards activity, then their is a problem.

Take a look at this. More ridiculous rubbish from the Lib Dems

Means less than min wage at full time hours, doesn't it?
Yeah, probably. I.e. less than £16k a year.

But then should just right "We will take those earning less than £16k a year out of income tax" rather than the rubbish they've written

A lot of people don't know their exact earnings, but they'll know if they are on the NMW.

A bit of fuss about nothing

Indeed, but no one earns "less" than minimum wage.

It's just annoying!

I suppose the lesson here is never to explain a policy that's defined annually with a law that's defined hourly.

Also, they've written "no one should pay tax if they earn less than the minimum wage". Does this include Council Tax, VAT, etc?

What they should have written is

"no one should pay tax on the part of their earnings, less than the minimum wage". (Maybe someone can write that more clearly).

Now that's a policy I think people can get behind!

Still, the Lib Dems remain the only sensible party

May will trump that by scrapping tuition.

Everything sounds shit out of the mouth of someone you don't like. A lesson Corbynistas are determined to learn the hard way.

Sounds like there's another lesson to be learned there.

You joke, but I wouldn't be surprised if May would love to see the number going to University drop by two thirds.

Once that's achieved, she can increase the number of government bursaries available to the top students (most of which will happen to come from Private and Grammar schools).

And then we're back in 1984

At that point she'll peel off her mask and it'll be Margaret Thatcher who managed to fake her own death. Genius. A proper Scooby Doo ending!

What's even better than an army of psychology and business studies graduates?

Taxpayer funded psychology and business studies graduates.

Does anyone have a link to a PDF of Labour's manifesto?

Exactly! It's almost like the gap year never ended. But such was the culture created over the past decade or two.

If they actually intended to specialise in their field of choice, particularly areas in which the country has a need, the debate would have more validity.
