I recently discovered that Ed Woodward is a real life leprechaun

VDS has a way of doing that to some other people we know as well...

Just heard about him offering counselling to a journalists daughter who was at the gig.

Flew her Dad home early as well.

Great gesture.

Social media in mid-2000's and now is not same and club do pay attention to reaction on social media although of course they won't change their objectives as per that. It may force them to act quicker and in transfer negotiations it can be a negative.
Whether Ed is under additional pressure or not because of quotes is not a point, it is simply that there is no reason to give details to media who can twist it anyway they like. Also 'Ed is under zero additional pressure' is not something you get to decide.
What details? No details were given. You might want to look up the word details before continuing to embarrass yourself .

If any is embarrassing himself here is you having already proven yourself to be a thick moron who can't understand simple points.

It's not a rant just a comment on what is a strong rumour, it might not be true but the wouldn't be much to discuss all summer otherwise.

If Woodward hands over 30m for Perisic he is either desperate or incompetent, no other way to describe it.
The problem is you believe the fee the paper got out from thin air. There was rumor Mkhi we're paying 40 mil or more last year. Then the official fee ended at closer to 25 mil GPB (?).

Back to Perisic, according to this source, then we didn't make a bid

Let remember that Inter Milan has no European football for next season. Some players may have clause for this case & affect transfer fee.

Also 30 mil is a standard fee for decent players to PL teams nowadays

Ed Woodward shows his class-

Woodward has taken the blame in certain quarters for some questionable signings and the failed appointments of managers David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

But last week he showed his class with an act of genuine kindness and one that deserves recognition and praise.

My daughter, who is 11, was caught up in the horrific events at the Manchester Arena, where a terrorist bomb killed 22 people including children.

She was left traumatised, unable to understand how evil the world can seem sometimes.

But when Woodward became aware of the situation, he was quick to get in touch with the offer of help in the shape of counselling.

He even invited me to travel back with the club following the Europa League final in Stockholm, so I could get home quicker to be with her.

It was a touching gesture and one I’m not too sure some other clubs would have made. In adversity Woodward, a father of two himself, stepped up to prove what a genuine bloke he is.

Feck it, ship em all off and go with a muppet warchest Woodie! It's FM time.

Smalling: 15 m gbp
Jones: 15 m gbp
Rooney off: 13 m gbp in wages (if he goes for free)
Zlatan off (15 m in gbp wages)
Fellaini: 10 m gbp
Martial: 40 m gbp
Shaw: 10 m gbp

128 m gbp on top of the 200 m gbp = 328 m gbp

Ins: 328 m gbp
Bale 80 m gbp
Griezz: 85 m gbp
Keane: 20 m gbp
Lindelof: 40 m gbp
Mendy: 50 m gbp to beat City
Rakitic: 40 m gbp
Raiola candy: 13 m gbp.
De Gea
Valencia-Bailly-Lindelof-Mendy
Rakitic-Herrera
Pogba
Rashford-Griezmann-Bale

Who would be our 8 homegrown players? Rashford, Lingard, Bale and Keane... who else?

No the problem isn't you haven't recognised the use of words like if and rumour, I feel I believed everything I would be stating it as a fact, I was commenting on a hypothetical that's all.

In your eyes maybe so but I'd prefer to trust our manager, he wants him for a reason and that's good enough for me. As for the price who the hell cares.

Well managers get things wrong and it's would be a pretty dull forum if we accepted every decision made by the manager and chairman without comment. Mourinho and Woodward have and will continue to make errors, and part of Woodward's job is to care about the money.

Ed have been brilliant for us and I think we're lucky to have a man like him in charge of our club! He's a very clever and intelligent man who adapt quickly in his new job! He came as a marketing man but have now made United a force to fear in the transfer market! We can almost get everyone we want and United have became one of the prefered destination for most star players despite the fact club like Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG have unlimited budget; and if we start winning major trophies, I am confident things will get better. Now I am confident we can easily beat Madrid and Barcelona for a player.

Yes he overpaid for some players but many clubs do it nowadays! In this inflated market, there's no designated price for a specific players and a player price depend on how much the seller club want and how much the buying player value him and are willing to pay! Was Gareth Bale a 80M player? No; was Ramos Rodriguez an 70M playeR? No; Was Gonzalo Huguain a 70M player? No; but the clubs who bought them valued them at that price and paid the money!
Beside that, the only player I can really consider we overpaid is Fellaini because it was a panic buy and he was not what we needed and have not the quality to be a United player. The other players we bought, I think he paid the correct prices to get them; for example;
(The number might not be correct because I didn't check, feel free to correct them)
- Mata 38M: previous season Chelsea best player and a star name in the PL and good playmaker. He's still here and have been one of our best players.
- Falcao : a failed experience but it was a loan and 14M was not that much as Falcao was one of the most feared striker in the world.
-Di Maria 59M: one of Madrid's best player and man of the match in the final of the CL.
-Daily Blind 14M : best Dutch league player that season.
-Herrera : we paid his released clause, no other way to get him.
-Shaw 30M : English younster and best left back the previous season! Right price if you consider that English players are very expensive.
-Memphis Depay: 26M was the right price after the season he had and considering the fact most big club were after him and PSG were preparing to offer big money to get him.
- Schneiderlin 27M: most of us were excited about this player and he was one of the best midfielder the previous season.
- Schweinsteiger : 6M was the correct price for a fading Bayern Munich legend.
- Martial : 36M good price if we consider the rumours that most big clubs were after him and Chelsea wanted to pay more to hijack the deal.
- Ibrahimovic : free.
- Pogba : one of the most tricked case; we overpaid but we also got, maybe, the best midfielder of his generation and one of the most marketable player in the world and Serie A best player.
- Mkitharyan : 27M was a still for the Bundesliga player of the season.
-Bailly : 30M was the correct price for one of the best defender in the Spanish league! He was also wanted by City, so we needed to act quickly.

So among all those names, can you tell me which one we overpaid and what is the correct price you'd have paid?

I think Ed is doing a good job and we must be proud to have him. According to some, he's the "Christiano Ronaldo" of commercial sphere. I am confident he'll deliver everything Jose want; even if it means we must overspaid, the most important thing is to get our targets and go into next season well prepared.
If we keep him it will end up around £57 million, its already up to £44 million after this season. All the others are about right.

Me too! The logic chain is crazy
It's if.. will seem.. suggests we.. is a ridiculous fee

People shouldn't believe everything they read in a paper or anything they see on the internet

We'll be linked with everyone with an agent trying to get a contract extension or more money when they join City or even Everton..

I have confidence Ed will do his job, our money & CL status will help for sure
Thats true virtually every player that goes somewhere else the press link with Utd. Today Strootmann has signed a new contract and in the headline Man Utd target.... Tottenham signed a young kid and the headline Tottenham beat Man Utd to striker.... Then the vile fans from other clubs start with the snubchester parodys

I want to see more of this. Just because we can spend the 50m asking price doesn`t mean we should. If anything it just furthers sets the precedent that we are desperate and not prone to negotiation, but just splashing. If rumours are to be believed, Perisic wants the move so clearly he will be unsettled if the move does not go through. We need to be astute about the way we go about our business and play hard ball a little more, which I`ve no doubt we will.

We have loads of money, but not a bottomless pit of unlimited funds. Spending more than necessary is never good business, on any level. Eventually it will catch up to us.

Only if he win the Ballon d'or! I'd gladly pay that money or even more for that achievement.

I just had to look the exact scenarios up and I think the last 2 we are safe with. He wont reach 25 caps before 2019, or win the Balon d'or..

So you wouldn't pay 57 million for a Ballon d'or winner to be in our team?

In fact, scrap that... you wouldn't pay 17 million to upgrade Martial to be a Ballon d'or winner?

Fantastic business from Woody.

I never said that. Of course I would love him to win Balon D'or here it would mean the team had probably won the Premiership or Ch League...or both.

Who would be our 8 homegrown players? Rashford, Lingard, Bale and Keane... who else?

That's pretty fixable. Sell Romero and sign a homegrown backup keeper, add the #3 keeper and Carrick and Young as useful depth and you're at 8. It's not so much that you need homegrown players, it's that you can't have more than 17 non-homegrown over 21s.

Greizmann stuff is not his fault, the CAS ruling meant they wouldn't sell him and he didn't want to leave Atleti without them being able to buy a replacement.

We probably got the heads-up that the ruling would be upheld and decided to brief the press in advance that we'd withdrawn our interest in the player to save face. It looks better than just being rejected out of the blue after it seemed nailed on for months.

The irony that having got CL and lost our primary target already is quite amusing after last summers perfect window, sure the cheese man will pull a rabbit out of the hat at some point though.
