Fabinho

While that might be true with Silva, Fabinho got linked with City, which suggests there is a difference. Only if our targets wrre getting linked with United but joined City it would be suspicious, but we are both in for some of the same players it seems (Mendy, Fabinho, Van Dijk, also got linked with Ederson)
It may be as simple as knowing X (player/agent/negotiator) travelled to Manchester for negotiations. Which club? feck knows.

Him and Perisic are just smokescreens for Fabinho and Dembele. Have faith.
Please, let this be true. I can't take another transfer of Fellainis. We need only the BEST to play for Manchester United.

If Jose has given Ed a list with four roles and a few options per role, do we think that Fabinho would be in the same "role category" as Eric Dier? And, if so, I wonder which of those was higher preference?
Fabinho should be higher seeing as he can back up Valencia.

They will replace all these players quickly. Supposedly their kid Allan Saint Maximin is a great winger talent, for example. Tielemens too is another they can use to replace the leavers.
Much cheaper business practise than ours it seems! The only problem is what are the chances of Monaco building a squad as talented as this one ever again?

After watching a bit of Monaco this season I'd say he's much more versatile and better on the ball than Dier. Also quicker.

Well he is still kind of new to the role, so I suppose there be enough attributes there to make him more robust.

Fabinho's definitely got more in his locker than Dier, however Dier may be able to better fulfil whatever role Jose has in mind.

Fingers crossed. We needed this kind of player for a while now and I'm pretty sure he'd fit in Mourinho's tactics.

Yeah, this one ticks all the boxes for me. He formed a good partnership with Bakayoko I think he could recreate with Pogba when we play a 2 man midfield against weaker sides and he's mobile and adaptable enough to form a nice trio when Herrera starts, or when Pogba is out or rested I think Herrera-Fabinho would be a nice hard-working, mobile and technically sound pair. 23 years old. Skilled enough to still be a starter if Mourinho doesn't last here but defensively very good and strong and so a great fit for Mourinho. Even has 15 league goals in the last 2 years despite having serious defensive responsibilities.

I think this is one worth overpaying 10-15M extra if that's what it takes.

Love the more positive news today, the overreactions on here the past few days have been ridiculous. I do like Fabinho a lot from what I've seen of him in the Champion's league and one or two Ligue 1 games. But for people who have watched him more than me, how well do you think a midfield of him, Pogba and Herrera would operate? And given that Griezmann prefers to play as a supporting striker, how would you fit all of our midfielders and Griezmann into the team? I guess a 352 could work, or maybe Jose will play Griezmann alone up top. Muppet season is well and truly on

True, although Dier can back up the CBs
With Mourinho preferring one attacking FB and one defensive, so long as he banks on Valencia that also affects our wide play upfront (an AM/ inside type right and need a proper winger left which explains Perisic).

If the hiring is predicated on that it is imperative Valencia can be backed up properly and not by Darmian, Tofu, Tuanzebe and whatnot.

Signing Fabinho would just be too good and thus it won't happen

Good news he isn't going to City though, expect him either to stay at Monaco or go to somewhere like Juventus

Would prefer Romeu from Southampton. Better at breaking up play and most certainly a better range of passing

Any update on fabinho? Why suddenly everyone is talking about him?
Yes a Journalist who is apparently close to City says they no longer are favourites, and a Monaco Journalist says we are the front runners. Looking good.

A Brazilian DLP?

Like I said probably doesn't have the range of passing, tends to play it simpler giving it to the more creative players to do the damage

Definitely more physical than Carrick as well, guess that comes from originally being a RB

The guy is fantastic. He's my pick for DM for sure, impressed me massively against City in the first leg especially. He and Pogba will rule the cm.

Funny thing, he was an attacking midfielder originally, he moved to CM because of needs and then to RB for the same reason, he liked the role of fullback and thought that it was his best chance to play for Brazil but because of needs Jardim moved him back to CM.

He's been the best player every time I've seen Monaco this season, the attacking players get the headlines but they'd be nothing without this guy in midfield constantly winning the ball back

Can he effectively play at CB as well as in DM and RB?

A reliable City journo confirmed he's not going to Man City.

People are now assuming he's United bound.

Plus Mourinho was in Monaco for the Grand Prix but never actually watched the Grand Prix. Definitely not there to top up on his tan!

So if we signed him, what do you imagine his price is going to be ?

I hope it's not higher than 50m. Will be a great signing btw.

Caf seems on a good mood today after these news.

Wait next day when City wraps another Mendy.

What good news? There's literally just rumours going around from bullshit Twitter accounts.

How good Fabinho is depends on who he signs for. If he joins City then "wow, what a player.. value for money", if he joins us then "what a fraud, complete waste of money".

That's the spirit :D

People were believing all BS news about City got linked to all players in the market and overreacting on it so why not cheer on the same news on us ?
