Seems the way we do transfers recently - all quiet before the storm, barring those mega transfers like Pogba or Griezmann (fingers crossed he comes too) where we want to generate as much buzz as possible.

I don't think Mendy is on Jose's list as he likes one defensive FB on one side, one offensive one on the other. Fabinho on the other hand, can really see it happening with the Mendes connections.

Not really, they are following the initial plan, 4 or 5 players will leave and most have been replaced a long time ago.
I'm almost certain the foreign journalists are getting city/united confused over many targets. Often we've both been reported as interested in the same players at different times. Silva kept being reported as a united target, but clearly since we had no interest. City wrapped it up pretty early.
