Fabinho

Fabinho is a Monaco player am I correct? They're not going to sell lots of players to us. I'd rather we were in for Silva.

And keep playing fellani in midfeild and let others dominate the ball?

I see the "Just because he has a fancy name" and FM players shit has started, all you need is Sky Sports and BT Sports and an interest in watching good football to know Fabinho is a superior player to Dier.

Misinterpretated my whole point.

I don't think he did. You seem to be fascinated Man Utd throwing their money around, thinking that will solve everything.

Have you not considered the possibility that Fabinho prefers City?

That doesn't mean we won't sign other options. If I could have a player from Monaco I'd rather have Silva or Mbappe. A midfield option can be sourced from elsewhere. What's the evidence that he's on our list?

Di Marzio - who is one of the more reliable journalists out there.

As for Silva, I really don't get why anyone here wants him. We create enough chances and don't score enough. Silva doesn't really chip in with goals, nor does he play in naturally wider positions. He shouldn't be high up on our priority. We need a top midfielder, striker and CB before we look at other areas.

Wonder how Pep plans on playing Fabinho and Fernandinho?

We can't sign every good player out there. Some will always end up going to our rivals. We need to prioritise. Is Fabinho really the player we need? I don't think his distribution is good enough (esp under pressure) to play a holding role. He's excellent at breaking up play and we do lack that. But if we have to spend money I rather have a player who can pass the ball and break up play.

Didn't Di Marzio also say we want Nainggolan and Kroos? Like I said we can't get all our options. Even if Fabinho is our main option we have to accept we may not always get our 1st choice, although clearly Kroos would be of the trio.

Silva is a player we could utilise to unlock compact defences, which pretty much always the case at home except for when playing the big games. His dribbling and close control is excellent and we lack that kind of player. Mata is probably the closest but he is not as skillful as Silva has shown to be. We'd also be investing in a young player with the potential to become top class. Anywho I don't wish to derail the thread with discussions on Silva, I was just making the point that I'd rather get him from Monaco than Fabinho.

Oh come on, You misinterpretated it as well.

Feel free to clear it up?

Di Marzio said we want Niangolan along with Chelsea but probably wont get him with the player preferring life in Italy. That turned out to be the case last year with him snubbing Chelsea and will probably happen this year. WRT Fabinho, I agree we can't get our top choices but to see him go to our City rival would be a worse blow.

Again, I don't know why you're talking about getting Silva over a central midfielder first. We have no troubling unlocking compact defences because we created plenty against such sides and failed to take the many chances that came our way. Silva won't change that. An established goalscorer or wide player who stretches play would. Creative luxury narrow fielded players are already well stocked in our squad.

Fabinho would be a massive addition to that City side, its their equivalent of us plugging our striker hole. Hope it doesn't materialise.

I'm not talking about getting Silva over a CM, I'm talking about getting Silva over Fabinho. If it was a choice of Silva vs Kroos or Nainggolan, then I might be inclined to consider more. That's my personal opinion. Anyhow, we could end up signing both Silva and Fabinho. I just feel Monaco will be reluctant to let too many go this season. We have created plenty against some of the sides, but recently especially we have struggled to even create the high volume of chances, let alone finish them. Plenty on here want Silva, and with good reason at that.

My original point was that we can't sign everyone and we have to concede that some players will want to go to City or Chelsea or maybe another rival. If it's true that Fabinho is on our wish list, then you can bet Jose is doing everything he can to persuade him to join United. Some factors you just can't control- he may have a preference to play for Pep for example. We just have to offer him the best we can, but at the end of the day City and Chelsea WILL sign players to be considered massive additions to our side. It's not just us who have a top manager and money to offer.

If Fabinho goes to City: He is crap, overrated, did not want him anyway, he will be a flop!
If Fabinho goes to United: Yees! Cocks out, brilliant signing, get the f**k in, great job Jose, now you're gonna believe us....

I would prefer the Belgian at Roma whose name i can't spell than Fabinho to be honest. The former is a much better player and at his peak now and wouldn't cost silly money

We want a DM and Fabinho is a better DM

I think you guys just signed Bebeto son. Questionable scouting indeed.
Ffs, even you know that, but tbf he was signed to be an backup player and this last months he improved tactically under Pedro Emanuel, and also was cheap.

Very disappointed we didn't go for him...I guess the Dier rumours are true :/

Will be a big miss, but I don't doubt we have alternatives. Would be very underwhelmed by Dier though.

I havent seen that many Monaco games and maybe te wrong ones. To me he looks like a very good right back and a very average central midfielder. Im happy with Valencia at right back for a year or two more most likely and would rather sign others in central midfield so its a good player but no thanks for me

Nah, it's usually the other way around.

People just need to relax a bit. I get that Monaco players are the flavour of the month but truth is Carvalho/Nzonzi/Matic/Dier/Romeu all will be fine behind Pogba and Herrera. So if not Fabinho, we have other options as well !

I don't see us signing more than one Monaco player anyway, so perhaps we're going for Mendy instead.

Fernandinho is a bit 'old' at 32, I imagine Pep will be looking to rely less and less on him. His role is quite all-action in it's intensity too, so that'll increase the need for more midfield numbers.

Not just midfeild, he can play at rb too. Which we also need.
