im not sure thats completely true, ive got mates who are at uni in london right now and living pretty comfortably, a lot of them are better of then people i know working full time

Not off the loan alone mate. If they appear that way they are either getting extra money from the family, working, or running up extra debts from banks and the like, which will really cost in the long run.

The future we are moving towards, education is everything. There should be no deterrents to further education and fees are a big deterrent.
True, but there are also some who deliberately misunderstand it in order to make a misguided political point, not caring that they're putting off kids applying for courses.
I agree we need to tackle these deterrents, though I think we should go about it in a gradual way (or some other initiative), rather than just abolishing the fees in one go.

Glad to see our arms deals coming up, that's going to be a damaging line for the Tories.

Finally someone pulls the Saudi arms deal into this!

Wish they didn't cut off Rudd when she said "Saudi has the right..". That was getting fun!

Youth workers aren't inside the mosque that goes rogue, or sitting next to people while they watch IS video channel online.

no maybe not of the loan alone, but i don't think its a bad thing that kids have to have a part time job while at uni. i had to, its nothing to fuss about.

I'm not sure, it's the top trending topic on twitter.

Its at the top of the "trends" because Twitter have got a live stream and agreement in place with the BBC.

Its not trending because of the amount of people tweeting about it.

Yes, but Rudd is second, and Nuttall was 4th last time I checked.

Tens of thousands are watching and tweeting about it.

I think fees were means tested before Cameron and Osbourne reintroduced them. That system was working fine.
They weren't means tested but there were more means tested bursaries. If you're spending 10bn on higher ed, that's a better target.
