Incident on London Bridge

Possibly died later. But we don't have any such info yet.

Yeah, I guess so. He also looks white to me, maybe even with a skin head and tattoos? Difficult to tell from the picture they keep showing on Sky.

*Edit.

They are showing the picture REALLY close up on CNN and he does have a skin head, definitely looks like he has tattoos too, and his left leg is covered in blood and soaked through his army camouflage combat trousers. Also, there is a fair bit of blood underneath him too, it does look like he bled out right there on the floor. It's difficult to see his face though but maybe not as white as I first thought.

Credit to CNN too for the way they are praising the response from the Police and armed response unit. Also they are praising the citizens of London and the social media campaign from the MET telling people to act calm and not panic and to run and hide etc. Also how the MET is asking people for any help via social media. Really nice to hear how they are talking about it and reporting it all to be honest.

Another terrorist attack in london?:(

feck you bastards jihadi's. And i am not sorry for the swear words here.

Don't really have anything to say...sound like a broken record as it is :(

But, I do want to commend the authorities...all 3 terrorists neutralized within 8 minutes of 1st call being placed.

Fast and decisive action saved many lives.

Daily Mail reporting someone was shot in the head by accident. Not heard anything about it on BBC news though so has this actually been confirmed?

Awful stuff obviously, but i expected the numbers to be even worse when i fell asleep around midnight. Credit to the police.

The emergency response to these events is nothing short of phenomenal. I've never appreciated how lucky we are to have such services in place.

Imagine being an armed police offer face to face with a terrorist who has (what looked like) explosives attached to himself.

To have received the call of what was happening and to have had 3 of the suspects shot and killed within 8 minutes is really quite something.

Awful horrible thing to happen to those poor people RIP and hopefully those injured will recover. Credit to our emergency services too who run towards what we would run away from. Just senseless waste of life.

Rip to those killed by these cowards

Kudos to the police for such a rapid response

Terrible stuff. It feels like that this shit will never stop, especially coming so soon after the Manchester incident. And Westminster not too long along ago either.
I honestly don't see an end anytime soon :(

Well done by the police for reacting so quickly and neutralizing those sick bastards.

Terrible loss of life and a terrible thing... :(

RIP to all killed, my prayers are with their families.

One question which may sound stupid, whats the difference with regular police and armed police. Regular police officers are not armed, just teasers or?

Hopefully there won't be any further fatalities, and people with injuries recover fully.

I can see all police having guns now and having a kill first ask questions later approach.

Regular police do not carry guns. I think they only carry batons and spray. The officers had a vote in carrying some years back and voted against it.

Would it be a wise decision to armed them?
Given the circumstances. Here the regular police carry guns.

These attacks are vicious but quite low tech. Thank God for our firearm laws. With guns these attacks would be much more deadly.

Wow, went to bed last night really fearing fatalities would be in well into double figures by the time I woke up. Six is obviously still awful but looks like the authorities have done an amazing job in preventing any more.

Dunno about that but I agree there will be a big push for every bobbie to carry a gun. Which is a real shame but arguably necessary.

Can you imagine the training that will be involved in that? Increased police budget is going to have to be compulsory for all manifestos going forward.

Yep. Imagine three people with automatic rifles on another killing spree in London.

Meh, can't really agree with this. Even though not every Muslim is a terrorist obviously, many of them actually support these attacks, a large part of them even though they do not support said attacks, agree with the reasoning. I mean you do not have to be a terrorist to be a problem, closing your eyes is just as bad.
What evidence have you got for this stupid and offensive comment?

The fake suicide vests are a bizarre detail in all of this.
It was probably to ensure the police shot them instead of capturing for questioning and subsequent trial and jail. There would be no point in their terror acts if they can't go to paradise straight after it.

I would think that the fake vests were meant to prevent crowds from overpowering them. You could potentially have dozens of people jumping on a bomb.

I think somebody here mentioned that it was to stop people from tackling them, that sounds like the most likely reason.

All terrorists were dead within 6 minutes. I'm pretty happy with that as an armed response.

Islamic texts has plenty of violent passages which advocate extreme action. Likewise, it's got plenty of passages which promote messages of peace, but if we're going to highlight one then I think it's only fair we highlight the other. Again, similar can be said for religions like Christianity - the Bible is littered with contradictions, both significant and insignificant.

Simply not true. This is the problem with
Lack of knowledge on a subject and pontification.

What your probably referring to is text describing historical events during war or a battle. Each one of them where they were being attacked.

For some reason some people think that ancient Muslims in the context of the Quran fighting in defensive wars is "extreme" yet the contemporary western world in many aggressive wars and invasions with millions killed is somehow civilised.to this very day...

Should we decide that anyone who chooses to use any book of history to falsely do the exact opposite of what it tells you is the fault of the text?

We should ban all books as it has been shown that people commit violence because of it. Ban comics and movies for that matter.

Won't derail the thread further so I will leave it there.

Probably not. It takes a special kind of person to execute people in high pressure situations, namely sociopaths. Most police are not really cut out to be carrying, you see this in America all the time.

This was a good documentary about one of the UKs top armed officers

I really hope we eventually catch one of these bastards alive.

I'd then torture them until we get as much information about people they know and what they know is possibly planned.

So do you reckon the police wouldn't have shot them dead if they didn't wear those jackets?
I think somebody here mentioned that it was to stop people from tackling them, that sounds like the most likely reason.
Maybe.
But as I said previously, I don't think they wanted to risk getting arrested either. Police will shoot on sight if they're strapped up. How else can they ensure they'll die if they don't wear the jackets?
