Incident on London Bridge

Is there anything sensible to be done, if attacking London Bridge becomes a thing? I fear it could be quite a clever tactic to repeatedly go for the same target and have a UK landmark become very much associated with jihadist attacks.

Have the released the identities of the 3 attackers yet? All UK born?
Just curious, as it tends to shape the debates one way or another.

I've been reading the updates and not found much there. Probably keeping it quiet until they make more arrests.

Since this and Manchester, I doubt there is any other western country better equipped to respond to this type of incident. Brilliant response in both Manchester and London. Now to move from response to pre empt is the next step. Whoever our political leaders are they need to notch it up a gear.

Yea fair play to the police for handling this really well. The worrying thing is the frequency in which this is happening. I feel it is impossible to predict when and where these attacks happen which is the real issue.

In terms of the perpetrators, do they generally release info on them such as how long they have lived in the UK? You would assume if they have been here for a period of time they must have crossed paths with a number of people who found them to be suspicious? My worry is that too many people worried about being declared racist/xenophobic etc to raise any doubts they may have about people

It's good you agree, I can't be arsed to argue.

They were two different bridges mate - one was on Westminster Bridge.

Is it naive to think there can't be too many people of this mindset who exist? I really hope there can only be a small, finite number of potential attackers out there. Probably naivity. :(

Ah, apologies. London is more a thing I travel through than go to.

And, um, I think the only realistic answer to that is 'feck knows'.

Pro-Islamic State social media users claimed the London attacks were revenge for the RAF’s "love from Manchester" air strike, according to the Site Intelligence monitoring group.
A photograph emerged last week of an RAF bomb with the message “love from Manchester” written on it. It was on its way to strike ISIL targets in Syria. According to Site, one Twitter user posted the image and wrote: "This is your merchandise and tonight we responded."

Because that makes sense

I was waiting for some news service in the US to post pictures of Tower Bridge.
Common enough mistake mind you, for those that are outside the UK.

Re: the statement of "Enough is Enough"; does that mean more money for the police and intelligence agencies, & the NHS and less corporate tax breaks, tax shelters, etc? Does it also mean no more huge money deals with the Saudis?

"And yes, we must have some difficult conversations starting with Saudi Arabia ... that have funded and fuelled extremist ideology"

Very powerful leadership from Corbyn.

You guys do have past experience in dealing with incidents like this, both in Manchester and elsewhere in the UK.

I can't believe anyone will be voting for anyone other than Corbyn on Thursday. Certainly over May ffs. Just my two cents.

Yeah, if we know extremists are drawn to that account, why not let them reveal themselves? Seems like a great source of information for intelligence services.

The same as all the people that claimed to have reported Abedi yet when records were checked not one call had been made giving his details..

They all come out of the woodwork after the event.
What else could they have done?
Or are you saying they are lying?

I don't like May, but Labour are nonsense.

More police won't stop these attacks. If someone decides to get in a van or go out stabbing people there is very little any amount of police can do to stop that.

Whilst that isn't to say too much has been cut out on police, isn't the same being said about the NHS and benefits and well everything and yet still the government deficit is growing and that just means a spiralling lack of control over interest payments, which means money to interest not to services.

Tougher controls over those linked to terrorism needs to be taken. If someone is known to intelligence services maybe it should be questioned if that is enough. Laws need to make it enough. There should be no free speech for extremists and those that follow them.

Corbyn is weak, he is definitely not a leader to make a difference. Not here, abroad or with Brexit. He can't balance a budget, he can't take tough measures. All he can do is make people vote based on false promises and badly calculated spending to be paid out of thin air.

Shame the 3 terrorist were shot dead... To nice a punishment for them really

They should be buried in a pigsty with pig parts in their mouths, and should get a proper sending off to hell by a special congregation of Imams, Rabbis, Priests, and Ministers. Just to make it clear to anyone else who follows Isis that you do not end up going to Heaven with many virgins to serve you, instead going to hell where they deserve.
