Absolutely not an idiot. Benzema dragged them into the final with his beautiful skill against Atletico in the second leg. In the final he caused so much havoc for the Juve defense, defenders dropped like flies. Personally taking the whole player into account, i think Benzema is much more clever, his overall movements are brilliant and despite not scoring every game, he's efficient in what he does. Personally i'd take Benzema over Morata any day of the week, but Benzema is not for sale. He's that good.

Benzema is a vital part of their attack, and has been for a long time, pre-Zidane. The job he does is incredibly underrated.
I would take the better player: Benzema. Simply using raw numbers to prove who's better, that's idiotic.
That's like saying that selling Pique from our end was a terrible long-term decision as Vidic and Rio were getting older and we would need Pique once they need replacing. Madrid would have liked to keep Morata but seems like he is determined to play more in another team and in which case it is prudent to let him go.
Not really, first Benzema is a good goalscorer but they don't use him that way, secondly Morata is replaceable and finally Morata could stay if he wants to but he allegedly prefers to play a lot right now instead of fighting for a place and playing a lot, later.

Ronaldo is getting older though and is playing less and less which lessens the need for Benzema that little bit more. Varane faced this exact scenario with Pepe and has come out the other side.
You can't really blame Morata for wanting to play more games now. Yes he could wait, but if there is a really good player about at that time you can bet Real will be in for him. Where would that leave Morata? He might as well leave now while he still has loads of potential than be shunted aside when he could be 2-3 years older and that potential has not developed.
If I was in their place, I wouldn't want to tinker with the golden formula that has given them 3 CL titles in last 4 years. Even at the cost of letting a promising player go.

He didn't really have the option if I recall correctly. Real bought him back as was their legal right, and my understanding is that he was happy to stay at Juve, who were also happy to keep him.
However, with interest from England, particularly Chelsea - Real wanted to buy him back for the pre-agreed price and then flog him to Chelsea for close to triple. I think given the chance, Morata would have stayed at Juve, but he was effectively a Real player on loan in Italy.
Zidane has just won the champions league and league double. You cant criticise his team selection at all.
And I had a problem with that theory because in the EU workers are free to chose their employer, Morata didn't had a signed contract with them since he signed one last summer.

Well that's similar to how he can't simply just choose United as his employer now, we need to find an agreement with Real.
The difference is that he was effectively a Real player last summer, as opposed to a Juve one. If he wanted to choose to be employed by Juve, they would have had to agree a deal with Real, which given the prices quoted, they were unwilling to do so.
Perhaps the fault on Morata's side was agreeing to that deal in 2014 or whatever it was. However, last summer Real were just exercising the agreement they previously agreed.

No, Juventus had a clause that they couldn't reject and that's it. What happens next is that the player will have to have a signed contractual agreement with Real which will allow Real to register him, even if Morata had a pre-contract, he wasn't forced to sign the actual contract, it would have led to compensations either already agreed or decided by courts but he wasn't effectively a Real Madrid player, it's his own doing that made him a Real Madrid player.
